This morning FC Barcelona revealed their new look for the 2009/2010 season. The home kit is the
classic blue and claret with vertical stripes and edged with a yellow line. The Catalan flag
appears on the back of the neck. The away kit is "a bright mango" according to the FCB site with a
round neck and blue edging.
Barcelona are set to make their first summer signing and it is the one that they wanted most,

After weeks of leaks, FC Barcelona's website has published pictures of the La Blaugrana's Nike
2009/10 home, away and first goalkeeper kits. According to the website Barca will wear the new home

OK, so Barcelona were parading new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the Camp Nou, and everything
seemed to be going swimmingly until at 0.42 on this video when an insane person decided to stand up
and start making some noise. This is not normally a problem but if you're wearing a Real Madrid
shirt then chances are you are a tad mentally challenged or simply in desperate need of a good
punching.
ESPN released their match schedule for the weekend and it is highlighted by the start of La Liga
and Barcelona's appearance on ESPN on Monday afternoon. The Spanish and European champions open at
the Camp Nou against Sporting Gijon at...
I don't know whether to congratulate Chelsea for deactivating the explosive Barcelona attack. Or
chastise them for playing a very negative, defensive brand of football that has nothing to do with
the reasons why we call this the beautiful game.
The reality is that if Chelsea played their usual brand of attacking football, they would have
been torn apart by the attacking prowess of Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto'o.
With the door apparently shut for DAVID VILLA at REAL MADRIDdue to the foiled transfer attempt
weeks ago with Valencia CF &the signing – although not officially confirmed as yet – of
KARIMBENZEMA by Real Madrid, FC BARCELONA has gone knocking at the"door" of Villa to convince &
shut a deal with the player sohe can end up playing at "Camp Nou" next season.
It's been like two days since the international break kicked off, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic has wasted
no time in going and getting his hair cut. Normally we really don't like it when players spring new
haircuts on us, because more often than not they are horrific (think Pique). But, we are quite
liking this look on Zla.
To commemorate the 50th of anniversary of the Camp Nou, Barcelona contracted English architect
Norman Foster to re-structure the stadium in 2007. His plan was to spend around €250m on
remodelling and to expand capacity by 10,000. However... not everyone is impressed with Foster's
plan, as it apparently fails to solve some access problems.
El Pais has a fascinating article (It is in Spanish) about Barca's manager.
He is obsessive, intelligent, passionate, a legend in a legendary city.
His impeccable sartorial style comes from his companion, Cristina Serra, whose family runs a
well known boutique. She has cultivated the couple's interest in photography, travel, and
reading.
Samuel Eto'o was in the shop window last summer. He was on then new manager Pep Guardiola's
'clear-out' list from day one. There was talk of a move to AC Milan. They plumped for Ronaldinho.
There was also speculation that crosstown rivals Internazionale, with new manager Jose Mourinho,
were very interested.
Pencil in the weekend of November 28/29. That is when Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and the rest of
Real Madrid's high-priced roster takes on Lionel Messi and the defending Champions League Champions
Barcelona at the Camp Nou. The return leg is April 10/11 at the Bernabeu.
It is usually the matchups between the big four in the Premier League that we look for first,
but Real's spending this summer has been unprecedented and these two La Liga giants might well be
the best two teams in Europe at the moment.
It's about an hour from kick-off and live updates will begin at about 19:15 GMT with the
starting line-ups. After the first leg, the tie is 0-0 after a scoreless first leg at the Camp
Nou.
Starting Line-ups are in for tonight's matchup.

Anelka, Drogba, Malouda

Messi, Eto'o, Iniesta
Only a few minutes until kick-off as the teams line-up on the pitch and the UEFA Champions
League theme plays.
Rumors that Leo would be marrying his girlfriend Antonella had us pretty excited, but now Leo's
stepped up to deny it... saying that he isn't thinking of marriage right now. All focus on Roma,
Leo? That's our boy!
He just talked about how comfortable he is in his relationship with her, having known her since he
was five years old, but that the prospect of marriage is still far.
Pepe Reina has revealed that he would like to rejoin Barcelona if the chance arose but admits that
the Catalan club are not actively looking to sign a goalkeeper at the moment.
The 26-year-old custodian rose through the ranks at Camp Nou before leaving to join Villarreal in
2002 after making just 30 appearances for the Blaugrana.
When the dad entered Camp Nou for the home game against Bayern Munich, he said to his son: "One
this is crucial. What ever happens...don't cry. And don't get nervous, ok?". The dad is a typical
Barca-supporter. Always counting on the negative, the potential of a defeat. Even with the almost
With the recent appointment of Carlo Ancelotti as the new Chelsea manager and the recent
announcement that Andriy Shevchenko will be coming back to the Bridge now that his one-year loan
deal with AC Milan has expired, there are questions being asked of what Ancelotti / Chelsea will do
with the 32-year-old striker.
It looks increasingly likely today that Samuel Eto'o will be
joining Manchester City after Barcelona president Joan
Laporta confirmed that the world's richest club have made a 'stratospheric'
offer to the player.

According to all the major Spanish news outlets this morning the Eto'o/Ibrahimovic transfer is
almost complete. After three hours of negotiating between Samuel Eto'o's agent, Josep Maria
Mesalles, and Inter officials the two sides finally came to an agreement.
thegoonblog.com understands that Arsenal will sign Lionel Messi in the
January transfer window after it has emerged to Barcelona that Messi contains Arsenal DNA,
reportedly shocking Barcelona president Joan Laporta so much that he had to be locked up in a
padded cell whilst he exploded in a mix of rage and disappointment.
Got to love this video. No flashy effects, freeze frames or replays. Just Google Earth zooming in
and the out of the world's 10 biggest soccer stadiums, and "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by
The Proclaimers on the soundtrack. The most interesting thing is that these stadiums aren't
necessarily the ones you know.
Barcelona trashes Bayern Munich 4-0 at the Camp Nou. It was another easy day for Barcelona in the
Champions League, as they didn't have to struggle to beat their German opponents Bayern Munich in
their first leg match of the quarterfinals. The Spanish giants had a comfortable 4-0 home win; but
a controversial decision from the [.
- First off, we're really starting to get suspicious about Cesc Fabregas and our Gerard Pique.
They've been getting quite cuddly on the Spanish NT together lately - it's alarming. We know
they've been bffs ever since they were toddling about in Barca's youth, but... we fear Bojan will
be jealous. He and Pique have been the team's royal couple.
Before I begin let me make it clear that the deal between Barcelona and Inter Milan is not yet
complete. So the following is purely speculation on my part. And, as a fan of Barcelona, I hope
with every fibre in my body, that the deal falls through.
Zlatan, a consistent underachiever
For those of you who are not aware of the situation the proposed deal is that Barcelona would swap
Samuel Eto'o and send Hleb on a year loan, on top of a 45m euro fee in order to bring Zlatan
Ibrahimovich to the Camp Nou.
- As it turns out, the chica vacationing with Puyol is none other than Romanian model Claudia
Neghina (photo) - more pictures of them together here.
- The deal with Inter Milan for the signing of Ibrahimovic and departure of Eto'o is almost
complete. Reportedly, the two clubs have reached an agreement and the only step that remains is the
paperwork.
Well so much for posting fewer Top 25 lists! Turns out so many things happened this weekend, most
of them flying in the face of our predictions, that we felt an update was in order. Here it is:
1. Real Madrid
Last ranking: 1
Record (wins-losses-ties, in all competition; two-leg match-ups count as one): 1-0-0
Results of note: None yet.
Pep Guardiola cannot believe it either.
After a workmanlike 1-0 victory against Almería and a mediocre showing in their 0-0 draw at the
Mestalla against Valencia CF on Saturday, FC Barcelona looked to reverse their form in the
Champions League against a supposed weaker team in FK Rubin Kazan.
Another Barca youngster reportedly on Wenger's radar.

We are reportedly now looking at snapping up yet another one of Catalan giants top notch
youngsters just days after being linked with Israeli teenager Gai Assulin we are now supposedly
interested in Jeffren Suarez, Barcelona's 21 year old winger.
You will see that only 2 out of the top 10 are in Europe. I'm sure that when reading the title you
would have thought the rest of the world doesn't have 100k or over stadiums. Or at least, not that
many.

To take a line from one of the greatest rappers ever, Rakim. "Its been a long time, since I
left you without a Top 5 to step to." Okay Rakim didn't say Top 5 but it has been awhile since
the last edition so I had to bring back. You know with all the talk [...]
Our midfield ace Xavi Hernandez launched his auto-biography, called "My Life is Barca", at Camp Nou
yesterday. His family and representatives of the club, including president Joan Laporta, all
attended the event.
Xavi explained that he had doubts about writing the book at first, but that everyone convinced him
to go through with it in the end.
With their typical class, Chelsea players and staff asserted their belief, following their 1-1
agg defeat to Barcelona, that UEFA conspired against them to prevent an all-English final in the
Champions League.
Players, such as Didier Drogba, displayed their sentiment by all but physically assaulting the
referee as he left the pitch.
We all know that the Premier League is coming down to the wire with two matches remaining, but
here's what going on around the rest of the continent:
Spain
There are three matches remaining for clubs in La Liga, but like the Premiership, one team is
stealing all of the headlines. Barcelona have just won the Copa del Rey, and are now just one point
away from clinching the La Liga crown.

Dmitri Seluka, the agent for FC Barcelona midfielder Yaya Touré, had some harsh words for the
team and management after his meeting to discuss contract negotiations last week. Touré who has
been with the team for two seasons is still making the team minimum and is growing frustrated with
the "lack of respect" he is being shown by the club.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta talked about the current situation regarding Samuel Eto'o's
contract negotiations. The two sides have been at a stand still since seasons end with daily rumors
in the media linking the Cameroon striker with every major team in Europe.
If late night media reports are to be believed, as I type this Samuel Eto'o is most likely being
relieved of his post at the Camp Nou and being replaced by none other than that long haired
half-bred douche... Zlatan 'F**k Im Good' Ibrahimovic!
The only thing that remains is for the club to reach an agreement with the
player.
Real Madrid may have signed Cristiano Ronaldo for a staggering £80 million to set a new world
record, but Inter Milan manager is hailing his sale of Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a "£100 million
deal." In case you missed it, Barcelona acquired Inter Milan's Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a deal that
saw Samuel Eto'o and a fat wad of cash head the other way.
After all the drama surrounding the international games (specifically one hand ball by one
Frenchman in overtime of one World Cup qualifier playoff match) it's good to get back to the
relative serenity of club football. Granted this weekend was really just warmup for the week ahead,
which besides Champions League action will also feature Barca v.
