The Offside Rules had a bunch of these and turned me on to the YouTube channel of Volkswagen. These

The Houston Dynamo will look to take a step closer to a third MLS Cup title in four years today
when it hosts the Sounders in Game Two of their Western Conference first-round series (3pm,
Telefutura).
The Dynamo held off Seattle's dangerous attack in Game One, posting a scoreless draw in a
sold-out Qwest field.
Major League Soccer announced the league's Best XI yesterday, as voted for by media, players,
coaches and GMs. Here's what they came up with: GOALKEEPER (1): Zach Thornton (Chivas USA)
DEFENDERS (3): Geoff Cameron (Houston Dynamo), Wilman Conde (Chicago Fire), Chad Marshall (Columbus
Crew) MIDFIELDERS (5): Dwayne De Rosario (Toronto FC), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy), [.
And Sounders fans are not happy.
Boy, I'm glad I live in a peaceful, law-abiding city. I can't imagine what it would be like to live
where people riot over any stupid little thing.
The final voting stats...or at least, the stats that Major League STALINISM feeds to the corporate
media to be spoon-fed by the sheeple.
As we await the latest on Ricardo Clark's situation (last updated yesterday about 4:05 p.m.), let's
bring put the focus back on today's MLS All-Star Game. I called up Dynamo defender Geoff Cameron
yesterday for today's Chron feature on today's...
I wanted to offer a comment on the Gael Kakuta case. This is a follow-up / extension of a post from
fellow writer Cameron, so hopefully he can comment on my thoughts.
To give some background on Kakuta, in 2007, when the player was just 16 years of age, he
transferred from RC Lens to Chelsea.
The MLS All-Star First XI selections were announced today: Goalkeeper: Kasey Keller (Seattle
Sounders FC)* Defenders: Geoff Cameron (Houston Dynamo)*, Wilman Conde (Chicago Fire)*, Chad
Marshall (Columbus Crew)* Midfielders: Dwayne De Rosario (Toronto FC), Stuart Holden (Houston
Dynamo)*, Shalrie Joseph.
Before the season, I examined the average age of each MLS team in league history. That's done by
taking the average age of all the players for the season (using July 1st birthdates) and
multiplying it by minutes played. It's then divided by the total team minutes. I think it was one
of the more interesting posts I've ever had on this blog.
I have seen a few of you include links to your own blogs when commenting. I'm not above letting
someone use this forum to promote their own site. Would you be interested in posting here, as a
guest?
Now I can't let just anything to be posted here. We all have limits, some more than others.

OTFATT is short for "On the field, all the time." In these updates throughout the season, I'll be
keeping track of which MLS players have played every minute of every game (regular season only).

There's nothing like kicking off a week with a good in-state derby. Tonight we get just that for
week 21's kickoff as the Houston Dynamo travel to Frisco, TX to face FC Dallas. Both clubs are
coming off big wins from last weekend and look to take ownership of El Capitán, the prize given to
the winning club in the season series.
In the wee small hours of Sunday morning, a 10-man brawl broke out in the RnB Room at Bambu club
in Birmingham where Wolverhampton and Birmingham City players were partying after their respective
matches on Saturday. Those involved in the brawl, including Wolves backup keeper Carl Ikeme and
Birmingham striker Cameron Jermone, were banned from the club for life.
Playing on the road against Group A's worst team, the Houston Dynamo couldn't get the win to send
them to the quarterfinals. Instead, they exited the CONCACAF Champions League on Wednesday night,
losing 3-2 to Isidro Metapan at the Tiburcio Carías Andino. Metapan opened the scoring through
Elian Montes in the 7th, and were up 2-0 a minute later when Anel Canales scored.
So, the Dynamo fell 3-2 to Isidro Metapan. After a 7th minute goal from Elias Montes, plus an
8th minute goal from Anal Canal Anel Canales, the Metapan side gained plenty of momentum to push
their way past the Orange.
Geoff Cameron managed to skip a ball past the opposing keeper after a perfect feed from Brian
Ching who, in a weird entertainment twist, played the entire game while doing a spot-on
Frankenstein impersonation (pictured right).
Liverpool hosted Birmingham City on Monday, November 9, 2009 in the English Premier League. The
Reds needed a victory after they've been struggling while Birmingham is in a fight against
relegation. Here's a recap of the match along with video highlights.

Liverpool had a strong start but was inconsistent on Monday against Birmingham.
As I was cruising around the internet tonight, I came across this - mighty Houston Head Coach
Dominic "The Dom" Kinnear speaking on the latest edition of MLSNet Extratime. A number of topics
are discussed including Houston's perennial slow starts, Holden in the middle, Cameron at the back,
how generally wonderful we are and Akinbiyi "the horse".
The Social Security Administration released the list of top baby names for 2008. Beckham debuted
among the top 1,000 boy names, making the list at 893. As stated in the SSA press release, this was
"undoubtedly influenced by the arrival in the United States of British soccer star David
Beckham."
But the press release fails to acknowledge the names "undoubtedly influenced" by the Orange.
The top two teams in Major League Soccer are set to meet tonight in a mid-week Western
Conference clash. Chivas USA, holders of the best record in MLS (8-2-3), take on the Houston Dynamo
(6-2-3), the hottest team in the league and riders of an eight match unbeaten streak.
There are plenty of great match-ups in this one, from Stuart Holden vs.
These are the eleven players selected to the MLS All-Star roster through a combination of fan,
media and extra-terrestrial voting.
GK: Kasey Keller (Sounders FC)
DEF: Geoff Cameron (Houston), Chad Marshall (Columbus Crew), Wilman Conde (Chicago Fire)
MID: Shalrie Joseph (New England Revs), Stuart Holden (Houston), Guillermo Barros Schelotto
(Columbus Crew), Freddie Ljungberg (Sounders FC), Dwayne De Rosario (Toronto FC)
F: Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Conor Casey (Colorado Rapids) .
Major League Soccer announced the winners of the vote for the All-Star First XI to represent MLS
against Everton at Rio Tinto Stadium on July 29th (9:30pm ET - ESPN). The vote was split between
media, coaches/GM's, players, and fans. Kasey Keller (Seattle) Geoff Cameron (Houston) - Wilman
Conde (Chicago) - Chad Marshall (Columbus) Dwayne De Rosario (Toronto) - Stuart Holden (Houston) -
Shalrie Joseph (New England) - Freddie Ljungberg (Seattle) - Guillermo Barros Schelotto.
It's true. The MLS All-Star First XI (not necessarily the starting eleven...) was unveiled on
Monday, and our very own Dwayne De Rosario was included in the team. He won't have the opportunity
to play though, as our CONCACAF Champions League match against the Puerto Rico Islanders is the
same day. Cuauhtemoc Blanco replaces DeRo in the First XI.
The weather was nasty in Dallas last night but thank goodness the soccer wasn't!
A few of my friends and players were at the game. Below is a pic of Jordan and Rob Gaudet.
Jordan is one of the kids I coach in Shreveport, Louisiana and Rob is his Dad.
Another friend of mine Cameron Bielstein from Austin, Texas was there.
The Battle of Texas kicks off tonight as the first-place Houston Dynamo take on FC Dallas at
Pizza Hut Park.
FC Dallas is coming off a 6-0 thumping of the Kansas City Wizards, but must now face a Dynamo
team that has welcomed back Brian Ching and Stuart Holden from national team duty.
Plenty of good goals this past week in Major League Soccer. Some were better than others but
that is for you all to decide. I've took out what I thought were some of the best from this past
week including one hat trick.
Order of video: Geoff Cameron, Nate Jaqua, Kheli Dube (hat trick), Juan Pablo Angel, Dax
McCarty, Dane Richards, Chris Wondonlowski, Sacha Kljestan, and Landon Donovan.
Now why would you think I am worried about RSL making the playoffs?
But sometimes, you have to face reality. Real looked awful out of the blocks in Houston. It was
as if RSL was still working at fifty percent effort at the start of the game while the Houston
Dynamo was playing at high tempo.
So I'm kind of bummed that yesterday's post fetched zero responses from the Offside readers. The
picture of Stuart Holden had me laughing for a good bit of the day, but to each his own.
If you looked at the Dynamo's picture gallery from the charity match against Monterrey then you
saw this strange goal celebration by Geoff Cameron.

Of all the MLS post-season awards up for grabs, there may be no tougher one to call than 2009
MLS Defender of the Year.
Last season, Chad Marshall was the clear-cut winner, topping a strong field of candidates with a
career year.
Chivas USA 0 Houston Dynamo 3
This one really is over now. Paulo Nagamura uncharacteristically lost the ball in the box,
Dynamo midfielder Geoff Cameron took advantage and fed Abe Thompson who put the ball in the net at
the far post for the third Dynamo goal.
This will be Chivas USA's worst home loss of the year if the result stands.
Fredy Montero hopes for better success in front of goal in Houston
The Seattle Sounders and Houston Dynamo played a highly contentious match on Thursday evening to
a 0-0 draw. A capacity crowd of 35,807 at Quest field in Seattle saw a match that contained 6
yellow cards (3 for each side) and countless missed opportunities on both sides.
Make that two straight Defender of the Year awards for Columbus' Chad Marshall. The league
announced today Marshall won the award for best defender.
Marshall helped lead the Columbus defense that only allowed 31 goals during the regular season,
a record low for the Crew. What's more impressive is that he only played in 18 games for the Crew
this season as he missed a few games with the US National team and a few others to injury.
On Tuesday, Major League Soccer announced the League's Best Eleven players for 2009. Zach Thornton
(Chivas USA) Chad Marshall (Columbus) - Wilman Conde (Chicago) - Geoff Cameron (Houston) Dwayne De
Rosario (Toronto) - Landon Donovan (Los Angeles) - Stuart Holden (Houston) - Shalrie Joseph (New
England) - Freddie Ljungberg (Seattle) Conor Casey (Colorado) - Jeff Cunningham (Dallas)
Garber gave an earlier and less formal state of the league address than he has in years past in
a teleconference with reporters today.
Garber announced the MLS Best XI during the call, which includes one player apiece from the
Galaxy and Chivas USA:
goalkeeper - Zach Thornton
defenders - Chad Marshall, William Conde, Geoff Cameron
midfielders - Dwayne DeRosario, Landon Donovan, Stuart Holden, Shalrie Joseph,
Freddie Ljungberg
forwards - Conor Casey, Jeff Cunningham
Other major talking points included:
*A reiteration MLS is looking to become a 20-team league.
What now?, I hear you quip, glibly. Actually, as you may or may not have heard, the Orange
officially announced the signing of 22 year old Canadian International Andrew Hainault from FK
Banik Most of the Czech Republic league (ah, yes, the Czech Republic league, powerhouse of Europe)
yesterday. Hainault is apparently good young defender of the Eddie Robinson mould and much needed
so we can stop playing the awesome Geoff Cameron back there.
Jeff Carlisle shows some Orange love on his West notes column (click here) over at MLSnet.com,
focusing primarily on Geoff Cameron and Andrew Hainault.
My favorite part of the piece is in this quote from The Dom:
"You always try and put your best team on the field," said Kinnear.
Say hello once again to Jerome Cameron One Mirror journalist will be suitably annoyed this morning
that a sub-editor writing the headline on his story on Birmingham City striker Cameron Jerome
decided his name would be better the other way round. It seems the newly-named striker will be
hoping to continue to forge partnerships with Phillips [.
According to Sky Sports News, Aston Villa have signed 16-year-old
Northampton academy graduate Courtney Cameron. The fee of the
deal is undisclosed.
