There really is little else around so I thought I'd reflect on the start to the season, and one
player in particular who looks re-born -Tomas Rosicky
This summer he was close to leaving, not of his own will I hastily add, but there has always
been big interest from Germany in him but Werder Bremen and Everton both inquired over his
availability as Arsenal were pursuing defenders from both the clubs, Phil Jagielka and Per
Mertesacker were the targets on the Arsenal side.
Will it ever end?
I'd say it's just me being dramatic, but I think we all know that I'm not prone to histrionics.
Not one bit.
Yesterday proved to be a fitting testimonial for Jamie Carragher, as the match drew a great
turnout at Anfield and was marked by the return of more than a few familiar faces.
Doom and gloom surrounded many circles at Villa Park after James Milner's departure, but could
there be an instant successor. The emergence of Marc Albrighton at Aston Villa this season has gone
some way to lifting the mood at the Midland's club and the winger is already showing real
promise.
The return of David Beckham to the Los Angeles Galaxy lineup looks more and more likely to
happen this weekend.
Los Angeles activated the 35-year-old midfielder Thursday, meaning that he will be available for
this Saturday's clash with the Columbus Crew in an important match for the Supporters' shield --
both sides are tied for first in MLS, with 44 points apiece.
Josh McEachran became the first player to make a Champions League appearance having been born
after the competition's debut in 1992. His 20-minute cameo Wednesday against M K Žilina a 4-1 win
was one in which the 17-year-old did not look at all out of place.
Well done, Josh. Following the jump, Carlo Ancelotti touches on the appearance, as does
McEachran himself.
The front page of Corriere dello Sport is something of an internet wasteland. Beyond the calcio
and moto, it's dotted with some of the more ludicrous videos you're find even quasi-related to
sport, along with the undying belief that every news story is an excuse to post half-naked women of
little to no relevance Larissa Riquelme makes a cameo every third day.
From his disastrous tragi-comedic cameo during the final hours of Cumbrian killer Raoul
Moat's fatal stand-off with the Rothsbury police constabulary back in July or the car
crash in Newcastle's quayside district that left him hospitalised for best part of a week the month
previous, it seemed that former England star Paul Gascoigne was unravelling a
little further with every headline he stumbled his way in to.
There's something very, very worrying going down in the general region of Blackburn, more
specifically the palpable odor of someone being completely full of himself emanating from Sam
Allardyce's office. An odor so strong this has gone from pure comedy to a general worry Big Sam is
having a genuine break from reality.
