Can someone please try to explain to me what is going on? Rafa Benitez bought a footballer who
was suffering from a long term injury, in fact he invested £20m (albeit in installments) in said
player, and yet when he finally gets himself fit and ready for action, he isn't picked!
Jay DeMerit made a second half appearance in Watford's 3-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers on
Monday, completing his comeback from eye surgery.
DeMerit was subbed in at halftime, and helped Watford post a scoreless second half en route to
a 3-1 win that pushed Watford to sixth place in the Coca Cola Championship.
Critics of Arsene Wenger often accuse him of having a utopian view of football which can never
realistically be put into action. They point to events like our defeat to Chelsea and argue that
this is evidence, that playing beautiful passing football does not work as it is 'powder-puff' and
the bigger teams can simply bully Arsenal.
Given - Little to do but always well positioned. 6
Richards - Strong in the tackle and purposeful going forward. 7
Bridge - One of his better games of late. Offered much going forward. 7
Toure - Controlled things at the back and distributed well. 7
Lescott - Impressive performance.
Time to shine. Better late than never
Today is a very different and special day. While we don't normally fret ourselves over the visit
of the likes of Stoke but today isin't any normal day. Today is the day we came off 2 consecutive
league defeats and also the end of our 100% winning record at Ashburton Grove.

Unbearable really.
Skilled Park is a much better place to play A-League than Suncorp. 10,000 there sounded like 30,000
at Suncorp. Brisbane - if it is to survive - needs a new home ground.
Amazingly, there were more than 2 people in orange for every 1 in yellow. Perhaps even 3 to 1.
Given the 10,000 crowd this would suggest say 7,000 Roar supporters to 3,000 for the Gold Coast.
I said yesterday that it hadn't really felt like boxing day. In all truth, despite getting lots
of free stuff, it hadn't really felt like xmas. Perhaps that had more to do with the fact that I've
hardly been out of the house for the last two months due to my mad cow disease and had not been
able to immerse myself in the xmas spirit.
Arsenal 3 (Fabregas 65, 81, Diaby 90) Aston Villa 0
(Premiership)
Before yesterday, Villa were the only regular Premiership side we hadn't beaten at the Grove,
and after a first half performance that was decent but lacking in the final thrust, we were in
danger of extending that run thanks to some terrific last ditch defending from the visitors.
Arsenal 3 - 0 Aston Villa
Kevin Palmer: The Joy of Cesc
Richard Williams: Fab cameo fires Gunners
Hull City 1 - 3 Manchester United
James Drucker: Rooney finds atonement
The Arsenal captain came off the bench to give the Gunners more conviction and penetration after
a blistering early exchange between the two clubs.

It may have been slightly swept under the rug after the masterful cameo provided by the Arsenal
skipper but before Cesc Fábregas' inspirational display, it was Abou Diaby who was the key
man.
Christmas is my favourite time of the year and I hope everyone had a good one. Personally, all I
asked was for a seemingly impossible win against Aston Villa. The West Midland giants have smashed
Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool and are threatening to break into the top four.
The Arsenal apparently, the poorest out of these teams were expected to roll over and let the
speed-demons take over at The Emirates.
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez may have his fair share of problems at Anfield at the moment, but he
has hailed the first-team progression of a young player as a positive for the Reds.
Dani Pacheco made his Premier League debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers last week with a late
cameo from the bench.
