Because I've got nothing on our pulseless ex-Veep, I thought I'd share some WPS news. It's
certainly gotten a lot more interesting and gratifying for Breakers fans, as they continued their
lossless streak against Philly this past Sunday. Yes, it was a draw ... but Boston remains one of
the few teams that the Independence haven't beaten this year.
Sorry it's a bit late, but it's a story that is definately worth mentioning. New Year's Day saw
Stevenage go top of the Blue Square Premier after they beat Cambridge United 4-1 at Broadhall Way.
Boro took the place of Oxford United who didn't play because their game against Rushden was
postponed due to the recent poor weather.
Saturday's FA Trophy clash with Vauxhall Motors is likely to be postponed due to the poor
weather conditions over the last few days. Stevenage announced that there would be a pitch
inspection at 1pm on Friday to determine whether the Broadhall Way pitch had a chance of recovering
in time for Saturday, but I've been told it's almost certain to be called off because of the snow
and ice.
Boro's game with Vauxhall Motors tomorrow night looks likely to be postponed again as the
freezing conditions continue to disrupt the club's fixture list. The initial game was called off at
the weekend due to snow and ice both on the pitch and around the ground. Conditions have improved
since then, but the game may come too quick for the pitch to recover totally.
Reports surfaced tonight that Torquay striker Tim Sills is about to sign for Stevenage Borough.
Sills has said on his facebook profile that he is leaving the Gulls after nearly 3 seasons at
Plainmoor to join the Blue Square Premier leaders. It's a great coup for Boro, who are now looking
serious title challengers to Oxford United.
So it's Friday ... and the "true colors" theme continues to be apt, as I see that ... Roy
Ashburn, a rabid anti-gay GOPer ... was arrested for DUI after leaving a gay nightclub, according
to sources. Here's his voting record ... a profile that's becoming more and more familiar, eh?
I mean, might we safely begin to assume that a rabid anti-gay stance is a sort of back-handed way
of coming out?

Downham Market, also known simply as Downham, is a town Norfolk. It lies on the edge of the Fens,
on the River Great Ouse, south of the town of King's Lynn, west of Norwich and north of Cambridge.
NH B-ball fans will get to see their favorite son, Concord's own Matt Bonner, play into the next
round of the NBA play-off's. Yep, the Spurs beat the #2 seeded Mavericks last night and will move
on to play the Phoenix Sun in round 2.
I'll be torn on this one, as Steve Nash is such a good guy, with his politics and philanthropic
activities and staunch WPS support and all.
JordanCornblog was unaccountably down (I mean the blog ... not the blogger) in the early part of
the AM when I was all set to write ... and now the day is moving on ... and me with it.
So I note, quickly, that all of this weekend's WPS games are being played today ... with FC Gold

The defeat to Cambridge in the second leg of the play-offs last year left a massive void on
Stevenage's season. Boro, who were 3-1 up from the first leg, collapsed and lost 3-0 to put the U's
through to a Wembley final against Torquay United. All sorts of things went through my head walking
out of the Abbey Stadium that day.

Stevenage have made their second signing of the summer with the aquisition of Scunthorpe
midfielder Peter Winn. The winger joins Stevenage on a one year deal with an option of a further
year should the club wish to. Winn spent last season mostly in the Blue Square Premier with
Gateshead, who attempted to sign him permanently.
It's the news that everyone has been waiting for and today it was finally announced that Graham
Westley has signed a new two year contract as Stevenage manager. I don't think there was any real
doubt whether he would stay on or not, it was just a matter of time. However, GW has had long talks
with Phil Wallace and made sure that everything is sorted before putting pen to paper which is
understandable.

After weeks of trialists, it seems that Graham Westley has finally found his man. Chris Holroyd
is the striker that the Boro boss hopes will be able to fire the Conference champions back up the
League 2 table. The Argus reports that Holroyd is set to sign for Stevenage on a 3 month loan deal
and that it should be finalised by Thursday evening.
We didn't quite realise just how much of an event it was until we arrived at the ground itself.
St Albans City had finished in second place in the 2005/06 Blue Square South table behind
big-spending Weymouth, but the team had hardly set the local populace alight (the average home
crowd for that season remained less than 600 and the club didn't record a home crowd of over 1,000
people for the whole of the season).

Even if Dion Dublin had gone on to achieve diddly squat in his career, Cambridge United fans would
