SEA Games: Thailand 1 - 1 Vietnam
Thailand drew 1-1 in their opening SEA games fixture against Vietnam in Laos. Keerati Kaewsombat
opened the scoring for Thailand in the second half. Vietnam equalised late on, via a disputed
penalty. There was certainly no love lost between the two sides, as the game became more fractious
the longer it went on.
Today sees the AFC Challenge Cup Qualifying Group A kick off in Dhaka featuring the hosts
Bangladesh alongside Cambodia, Myanmar and Macau.
Wouldn't ordinarily mention but it features a couple of countries I have soft spots for having
spent lengthy periods in them in the past, Bangladesh and Cambodia.
Bangkok Glass' style of play is similar to what we saw by their fellow Thai side - TTM Samut Sakorn
on last Friday.
Glass Rabbit fans... Wondering we would get to see the famed Glass Rabbit cheerleaders anytime
soon?
Patient is the key in orchestrating any attacking play, a logic never seems to adapt by many of the
local clubs who would prefer that "kamikaze" style of football (kick and rush before allowing your
opponents to hit you hard when at vulnerability).

Where would ASEAN football be without players attacking match officials 'cos they can't take defeat
or decisions going against them.
Some Australia named Scott O'Donell was the coach of the Cambodia national soccer team.
Well, until the sponsors that paid his salary suddenly stopped and he had to become a TV pundit to
pay the bills.
Turns out the grassroots program raised some money and got their man back!
"I'm happy to be back," O'Donell told Reuters.
Two Vietnamese football teams will vie for the Cambodia Royal Cup and a prize of US$20,000 from
November 8-13. The runners-up will take $10,000 and $5,000 respectively.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Vissai Ninh Binh will take part at the invitation of Cambodian Prime Minister
Hu Sen and Cambodian Football Federation chairman Sao Sokha.
SEA Games: Thailand 4 - 0 Cambodia
Thai Port striker Sompong Soleb scored a hat-trick in Thailand's 4-0 victory over Cambodia.
Thailand were 3-0 up at half time, thanks to 2 goals from Sompong and 1 from TOT striker Keerati
Keawsombat. Sompong completed his treble in the second half to complete to the rout.
Mohammed Enamul Hoque scored the only goal of the game as Bangladesh defeated Cambodia 1-0 at the
Bangabandhu Stadium in Dhaka in front of 8,060 fans in their opening group game of the AFC
Challenge Cup.
Myanmar however lead the group after beating Macau 4-0.

Andy Brouwer is another English expat with a big interest in the local football scene. In his case
Cambodia. Here he has a chat with new Cambodian national team coach, again, Scott O'Donnel ahead of
their friendly on Sunday against Singapore.
Check out the rest of his blog for pictures of the Cambodian players etc.

Today Indonesia take on Singapore but it's not being shown live. Them lousy organisers went and
priced themselves out the market apparently
I think I would have preferred Group B rather than Group A, but as you know, there are no easy
games for Cambodia at this level.
The tournament here is going really well. It is very good preparation for the SEA Games. A good
opportunity to play against strong opposition, and playing every second day, like we will do at SEA
Games.
So we approach the end of another Asian Cup qualifying round and how much closer are South ast
Asian nations to qualifying? In 2007 thanks to some political compromise there were four countries
in Asia's flagship national team competition; Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. For 2011
in Qatar they may be just one.
Why are we waiting...
