As we all know, tonight the Portland Timbers will take on southern California side Chivas USA is
round 2 of the Timbers' tournament. Tonight is an important game for both the Timbers and Chivas
USA as each will want to prove that Monday's performance was a fluke, not a trend. Not to say the
Timbers were terrible, but their performance left something to be desired.
All in all, the only way the weekend could have been more perfect for the Timbers is if they had
won against the Philadelphia Union and DC United had tied with Chivas USA. Other than that, the New
York draw, Houston loss, Dallas loss and Columbus loss all benefit the Timbers in their hunt for
one of those play-off spots.
Tonight's match will be our last home game for over 3 weeks as the Portland TImbers then head
off to D.C. United and the Philadelphia Union for a couple of away matches while taking a week long
break at the beginning of September (probably much deserved after this August's string of 7
matches). So take it in as much as possible and prepare yourself for some withdrawals.
