Seattle Sounders FC's leading goalscorer Fredy Montero has received offers from at least two teams
overseas, according to a Colombian report. One of the potential suitors was revealed to be Turkey's
Fenerbahce; the other team, an unidentified club from Russia.
Montero, 22, appeared in 27 games in his first season in Major League Soccer after joining the club
from Deportivo Cali in his native country.
On 27 May 2003 Argentine giants River Plate travelled to Colombia to defend their 2-1 first leg
lead against América de Cali in the 2nd leg of the Copa Libertadores quarter-final. There was
already a lot of history between the two clubs, River Plate won both of their Copa Libertadores
titles by beating América in the finals of 1986 and 1996.

Hamilton Ricard playing for Middlesbrough. In 1998 Middlesbrough FC signed 24 year old Colombian
striker Hamilton Ricard from Deportivo Cali for a fee of £2 million. Ricard had been in a rich
vien of form, he was the top scorer in the Colombian league in 1996-97 with 36 goals and had
starred for the Colombia national team at Copa América 1997 and at the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
