Faryd Mondragon is officially no longer a Philadelphia Union player. The goalkeeper will return to the team that he began his career with, Deportivo Cali, as soon as the player and his family can move to Colombia.

Faryd Mondragon's out-of-the-blue transfer saga may be at an end, according to a Colombian media outlet.

The 40-year-old has signed a contract with Deportivo Cali, Nuevo Estadio reports. Mondragon began his career with the Liga Postobon club in 1990-1991, before moving to Real Cartagena, another Colombian team.

If Colombian media is to be believed, Faryd Mondragon is set to made a dramatic return to the country to end his career.

Golcarcol is reporting that Deportivo Cali has begun discussions to bring Mondragon back to the team. Deportivo is the team with which Mondragon began his career, which now spans over two decades, during the 1990-91 season.

Major League Soccer announced on Tuesday new Designated Player rules for players aged 20-years-old or younger and players aged 21 to 23-years-old.

Under the new rules, which will go into effect in the 2012 season, players in the first group will count as $150,000 against the salary cap while players in the second group will count as $200,000 against the salary cap.
