LeToux: Not Bolton, VC-be?

The Philadelphia Union looking to deal yes deal perennial MVP candidate Sebastien Le Toux in the wake of Bolton taking a pass on bringing him across the pond.

Rumored destination? None other than the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Faryd Mondragon is officially no longer a Philadelphia Union player. The goalkeeper will return to the team that he began his career with, Deportivo Cali, as soon as the player and his family can move to Colombia.

"It has been an absolute honor and a privilege to be part of the Union family," said Mondragón told PhiladelphiaUnion.

Faryd Mondragon's out-of-the-blue transfer saga may be at an end, according to a Colombian media outlet.

The 40-year-old has signed a contract with Deportivo Cali, Nuevo Estadio reports. Mondragon began his career with the Liga Postobon club in 1990-1991, before moving to Real Cartagena, another Colombian team.

If Colombian media is to be believed, Faryd Mondragon is set to made a dramatic return to the country to end his career.

Golcarcol is reporting that Deportivo Cali has begun discussions to bring Mondragon back to the team. Deportivo is the team with which Mondragon began his career, which now spans over two decades, during the 1990-91 season.

To kickoff 2012, my first (and only) blog entry centered on a plea for the New England Revolution to be "blog worthy" in 2012. A hope that it would "show the fanbase how big the Revolution dream is, and steps you are taking to achieve it."

Given a week of activity, I'm concerned the team still cannot explain the vision of the team's future the way I'd like, but its actions actually give me hope.

Major League Soccer announced on Tuesday new Designated Player rules for players aged 20-years-old or younger and players aged 21 to 23-years-old.

Under the new rules, which will go into effect in the 2012 season, players in the first group will count as $150,000 against the salary cap while players in the second group will count as $200,000 against the salary cap.

La Selección de Brasil se coronó campeona de la Copa Mundial Sub-20 por quinta ocasión, al imponerse 3-2 a Portugal en la gran final disputada en el Estadio El Campín de Bogotá.
Participaron del certamen 24 selecciones que jugaron 52 partidos en ocho estadios de ocho ciudades: Armenia, Barranquilla, Bogotá, Cali, Cartagena, Manizales, Medellín y Pereira.

El Santos liderado por la leyenda Pelé, se midió en la final de la Libertadores contra el Peñarol hace 49 años, después de casi cinco décadas, estos clubes tendrán que verse la cara nuevamente para disputar la final de la Copa Libertadores 2011.

Colombian newspaper El Pais reported today that striker Andrés Ramiro Escobar is set to have his future decided by the "start of business on Friday." The just-turned-20-year-old (his birthday is today) will go to either the Portland Timbers or Philadelphia Union, according to the report.

Luis Moreno has struck again, and this time he chose an opponent. The Panamanian defender currently plying his trade in Columbia with Deportivo Pereira faced widespread condemnation back in February after fatally booting an injured owl off the field of play. The mascot of their opponents and hated rivals Junior Barranquilla, the owl had landed on the field and was struck by a pass.
