The 40-year-old has signed a contract with Deportivo Cali, Nuevo Estadio reports. Mondragon began his career with the Liga Postobon club in 1990-1991, before moving to Real Cartagena, another Colombian team.

Colombian newspaper El Pais reported today that striker Andrés Ramiro Escobar is set to have his future decided by the "start of business on Friday." The just-turned-20-year-old (his birthday is today) will go to either the Portland Timbers or Philadelphia Union, according to the report.

Escobar is currently with Deportivo Cali in the Colombian top league, Categoría Primera A.

Major League Soccer announced on Tuesday new Designated Player rules for players aged 20-years-old or younger and players aged 21 to 23-years-old.

Under the new rules, which will go into effect in the 2012 season, players in the first group will count as $150,000 against the salary cap while players in the second group will count as $200,000 against the salary cap.
