The Timbers Army, through their charitable affiliated groups 107ist and Operation Pitch Invasion, will be hosting a benefit on April 4 at Hollywood Theatre for a pitch building project within the New Columbia development project in North Portland. The benefit will feature highlights of the Timbers during their NASL days in the 1970's and 1980's with commentary provided by several of the players from that golden era of Timbers soccer.
The United States Soccer Federation announced the tournament rules and format for the 2013 U.S. Open Cup field that will feature both the Portland Timbers and the Timbers U-23 teams within the 68 team field. For 2013, there is more prize money for the winners, while rules put all decisions for hosting matches between the two sides within a round to be determined by a coin flip.
The Portland Timbers announced their official local broadcast partners for television and radio coverage for 2013. As with the past two season, every Timbers home and away match will be available through one of the national brodcast partners of MLS or a local affliate. The team was also able to announce the official kickoff times for three matches that originally did not have start times with the January official schedule release.
There was other news about soccer from two other local sides. The Portland Thorns FC selected four players during the NWSL College Draft, while the Timbers U-23s announced their full 2013 playing schedule. The U-23s will have three special daytime matches at JELD-WEN Field, while also playing at other locations throughout the Portland metro area for some home dates.
The Portland Timbers will be playing at home for the opening weekend of the 2013 MLS regular season, as the New York Red Bulls will visit on Sunday, March 3 as part of the league's opening weekend. Considering the history between these sides, it should be a rather entertaining affair.
With the events over the past few days, its easy to feel like the Bleus have turned
their back on the fans
*Post written to the tune of Everybody Hurts by REM...audio at bottom of post (below

I've been a fan of the Bleus since 1998, ever since the team's infamous World Cup win in ParisÂ
– I became a passionate fan of the Bleus after their infamous first round exit in the 2002 World
Cup.
It's only game 1 of the World Cup, but I feel like its D-Day. Â And, I honestly don't think
that's an exaggeration- because how we perform in this initial game will most likely determine the
rest of France's World Cup adventure.
Uruguay's coach has already picked his starting XI to start against France on Friday. The only
two surprises in the lineup appear to be Mauricio Victorino (defense) and
midfielder Egidio Arevalo (midfield) who replace Andres Sotti
(defense) and Walter Gargano (midfield).
Today the Bleus take on Tunisia in their second friendly before the World Cup. Â Their first
game against Costa Rica was largely a success last week, and the team will be establish a positive
streak of games going into the tournament this summer. Â If you missed the Costa Rica game, check
out Jean-Francois' post-game review and player ratings.
Rayray I knew you were into astrology, but who know you could channel spirits as
well?
You've probably heard that France's head coach, Raymond Domenech, released his preliminary list
of players today for the World Cup- to see that list, see my previous post. However, since he
announced the group of players live on French TV, there has been an barrage of responses, criticism
and probably a few death threats.
What do we know so far after seven games? The Timbers defense is even stingier in 2008 than it was
in 2007. Through seven games last season the squad had given up five goals. Through seven games
this season the...

There might not be a lot of football going on this weekend, but just as soon as the weekend is
over, we have a very full month of footie ahead. Here's a brief look at everything coming up in the
world of football, so you can plan your couch time appropriately. There are many more league games
than the ones we've listed, of course we've tried to pick out some highlights.
This post specifically replies to the many requests via emails that Spanish Football Sports Blog
has been receiving in the past days from readers solicitating the REAL MADRID & FC BARCELONA "LIGA"
season 2010 - 2011 match schedule / calendar. Below are the full 38 Rounds match schedules for both
teams.
Team websites make managing and administrating a team so much easier than old, pre-email and
pre-Internet days. WePlay.com is one such that offers much more than just the ability to share
rosters and schedules.
I'll have a complete season review up sometime in the next few days, but to tide you over until
then, here is next season's schedule. For obvious reasons, only league games are listed, as
Champions League, Coupe de France, and Coupe de la Ligue dates haven't been decided yet. Also to be
determined is Lyon's summer schedule.
The title to this article might suggest that I am providing some late coverage on Arsenal
striker Nicklas Bendtner's recent car accident while driving to practice in his Aston Martin. In
reality, though, this article is written in vehement defense of the player, who has certainly had
more than his fair share of critics, to put it bluntly.
Despite forcing Barcelona to sweat big time in recent weeks, defending champions Real Madrid fell
off the pace in their pursuit for a third successive La Liga title earlier tonight. At their
storied Santiago Bernabeu stadium, the Los Blancos came from behind through a Klaas Jan Huntelaar
strike but failed to change the 1-1 stalemate against city rivals Atletico Madrid.
With January turning into February on the Gregorian calendar, the football calendar switches from
"Silly Season" to "Squeaky-Bum" Time. Ah, yes, the time of managerial wars of
the words is upon us, and this past week's headlines have been full of such statements. There's no
doubt about it - it's time for a title run-in.

While most of us are anxious about Sunday's Big Four matchup between Manchester United and Chelsea,
the entirety of the footballing world is awaiting FIFA's big announcement. This upcoming Monday,
January 12th, FIFA is set to announce who the best footballer on the planet is; the World Player of
the Year award will be handed out.
No word yet on Lyon's pre-season schedule, but that's to be expected because half our players
will be involved in either Euro 2008 (looking at all the Lyon players spread throughout the Euro
2008 squads, one of them better return as a tournament winner) or FIFA World Cup qualifying. The
players that will remain behind will be traveling to Dubai next week to help Al
Shabab football club celebrate their 50th anniversary.
Premier League fans in the United States will once again get the chance to see Burnley take on
their new Premiership opposition. This week it comes in the form of Sunderland at Turf Moor.
When the schedule was initially released before the season started, I doubt that many people
were circling this date on their calendars.
To people all around the world, I wish you a very happy New Year! To football fans around the
world, I wish you a very happy and hopefully fruitful silly season! Yes, at long last, transfer
season is here. January 1st not only signals the beginning of a new year, but for many teams in the
world of football it signals a new beginning.
With the heavy fixture load coming up in the next month, I thought that before things get too
serious around here, I'd share the pictures from the OL 2009 calendar. As I mentioned earlier, Lyon
got creative this year and had the players dress up in a way that reflected some aspect of the
player's personality, either hobbies, persona, background, or running gags.
Just the other day, the LFP published the summer schedule of friendlies for both Ligue 1 and
Ligue 2 clubs. Nearly all of them will be busy this summer - Marseille have nine
friendlies planned while Bordeaux have a respectable five (fyi, PSG will be playing against Porto
in August - fun).
The CONCACAF Gold Cup is a significant competition on the international calendar, and with the United States hosting the 2013 tournament, there are plenty of available venues for matches. In a significant honor for Portland and JELD-WEN Field, it was selected amongst 13 host venues for the month long tournament in July.

decidieron hacer un calendario 2011.
La verdad que para estas fiestas se agradece el esfuerzo de quitarse un poco de ropa en pleno

Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear. Bradford City have requested that their 2012 calendar be removed from
stockists after being alerted to the fact that it featured Dele Adebola on the cover Adebola beingÂ
a Hull City player.
The Serie A calendar has been revealed, and like many the first matchday I wanted to check was
the one between Inter Milan and Roma. If you're interested in seeing the entire calendar, you can
check it out here. Here are the so called "big matches":
Roma - Inter Milan 5th matchday
Inter Milan - Juventus 6th matchday
AC Milan - Juventus 9th matchday
Inter Milan - AC Milan 12th matchday
Juventus - Roma 12th matchday
AC Milan - Roma 17th matchday
It's especially important to note that the title race will take a definitive turn after Inter
Milan play Roma and Juventus back to back during the 5th and 6th matchdays, and there will be
plenty of excitement on the 12th matchday with the Milan derby and Juventus playing Roma.
