Real Madrid have become an 11-headed hydra on the pitch: swallowing their opponents whole.
4.5 goals/game in the last 4 matches. The biggest head of this 11-headed monster has thus far been
Ronaldo.Last Tuesday, as the referee blew the final whistle in our commanding win
(despite the fluke-ish goals) over AC Milan, the Sky Sports announcers covering the match, Gerry
Armstrong & Rob Palmer ended the match with a haunting statement that should have echoed across the
Spanish Countryside and across the European continent:
‘What a monster Jose Mourinho is
building here in Madrid.
You all must have heard the news that Florentino Perez wants to sell Higuain to make way for
another Galactico and because he was bought by Calderon and so Perez does not want any mention of
Calderon if Higuain turns out to be one of the star players for Real Madrid in the future to [...]
Maxi Rodriguez's agent has confirmed Liverpool are in talks to sign the Atletico Madrid winger.
Liverpool have lined up a move for the Argentine international as they look to bolster their squad
during this month's transfer window.
Atletico are prepared to let Rodriguez leave as he has dropped down the pecking order at Vicente
Calderon and his current contract is due to expire in the summer.
So it looks like Rojiblancos have done Potter Perez and
friends a favour by handing Barca their first defeat of the season. No no
estés triste... there's nothing to panic about yet, Los Cules, because no
one expected you to be invincible.
So in a week of mourning, the yin-yang repeats itself, with the 0-3 win at Xerez preceding
Barcelona's much-predicted (and eventual) defeat at Atletico Madrid in the late Sunday game at the
Calderon. The leaders had lost Alves, Abidal, Pique. Marquez, Yaya and Chigrinski before the game,
only to lose Seydou Keita in the second minute.
Rafa Benitez hopes his inside information on Atletico Madrid will help to prolong Liverpool's
European adventure.
The Reds tackle Spanish opposition in the semi-finals of the Europa League, with the first leg at
Vicente Calderon scheduled to take place on Thursday.
Liverpool's preparations for the game have hardly been helped by the travel chaos sweeping the
continent, caused by the volcanic ash problem, but they will be ready for action by the time
kick-off arrives.
Rafa Benitez last night threw his future as Liverpool manager into fresh doubt by revealing he has
NEVER received assurances over his job.
But, with Juventus waiting in the wings to capture Benitez, it could well be the last big night of
his six-year reign.
When asked if anyone from the Anfield boardroom had sat down with him and given assurances over his
future, he replied pointedly: "No.

After a busy summer for Quique Sanchez Flores, in which six (well five, Tiago was there on loan
last season) new players arrived at the Calderon, the hard work now begins. This Friday Atletico
Madrid will face Internazionale in the European Super Cup before starting the 2010/11 La Liga
campaign against Sporting de Gijon only three days later.
Two first half goals is enough to hold off Atlético Madrid at Vicente Calderon and ends a three

After four years of failing to beat Atlético de Madrid at the Vicente Calderón, the last time
being in 2006, Barcelona knew that this match would not be an easy one. Especially after last
Saturday's defeat at Camp Nou against Hércules, hopes were not high.
