What a bittersweet final day for Juve fans as their side got to lift the Scudetto and beat
Atalanta, 3-1 in the season's last match. It was also the last day for Alessandro Del Piero, their
talismanic striker, who spent almost his entire career at the Old Lady, spanning 19 years.
Del Piero made 704 appearances and scored 298 goals becoming the club's top scorer.
D.C. United will play Serie A champions Juventus at RFK Stadium on Saturday July 28. Kickoff is
set for 6pm (might be changed for TV). Tickets go on sale next week.
This game was originally planned as part of a doubleheader at FedEx Field, with the other game
supposed to be AC Milan v Chelsea.
Juventus won the scudetto this past weekend, and deservedly so as they were the best team in the
peninsula this year. Sometimes, that's just how it works. In celebration, they're hoisting all
sorts of glittered beacons of success, including the scudetto tally for their brand new
stadium.
The Serie A season isn't quite over yet, but Juventus defender Paolo De Ceglie has already had
his Jeep repainted in honor of his club sealing their Scudetto win last weekend. With the front of
the otherwise black car painted green white and red, De Ceglie also added three stars across the
hood to signify Juventus' (unofficial) 30 league titles.
A 2-0 win against Cagliari gave undefeated Juventus their first Scudetto since being forced down
to Serie B after the Calciopoli scandal in 2006. Officially, this is their 28th title (not counting
the two they were stripped of), but Juve have made it clear that they consider this to be a
historic No.

Mirko Vucinic's cool finish and Marco Borriello's strike ensured Juve's 28th Scudetto as Inter
played spoiler in the San Siro derby. It was their first Scudetto since the 2006 Calciopoli scandal
saw them stripped off their title and resulting in relegation.
The title was also coach Antonio Conte's first and it came in his debut season with
Juventus.
Juventus are champions of Italy for the first time since the Calciopoli scandal. They beat
Cagliari 2-0 in Trieste with a Vucinic strike and an own-goal by Canini to get the party started a
week before the end of the season. It is Juventus's 28th league title, (30th according to some of
their fans who still count the two Scudettos struck off for the Caciopoli scandal).
Juventus moved to within 2 points of Serie A leaders AC Milan after a comfortable 3-0 win over
Napoli at the Juventus Arena last night. The win ensures Juventus maintains their unbeaten streak
in the league with only handful of matches left.
A proud Antonio Conte praised his team for their performance saying that the result had given
them hope of winning their first league title since the infamous calciopoli scandal.
Italian football is on a high. After years in the mires, more than partly brought about due to the
calciopoli scandal of 2006, there is reason for hope. One aspect of this hope is embodied in the
fact that the Serie A, for the first time since the mid-1990's, has more representatives in the
Champions League knockout stages than either England's Premier League or Spain's La Liga.

On this site there has been often referred to the Calciopoli scandal in Italy. In short this was
the system where a few top clubs like Juventus had a system where they conspired with the people
who decided which ref would get which game.
The reasoning was that they knew/hoped which ref [.
The last time they finished first and second in Serie A has been cancelled from the record books by
the Calciopoli scandal. Prior to that, you have to go back 16 years to find a time when they filled
the champions and runners-up spot in the league table. So we should really give a warm welcome to a
Juventus versus Milan Scudetto fight it has certainly been a while.
First it was Luciano Moggi the former Juventus director who was sentenced to 5 years and 4
months in prison for his role in the 2006 Calciopoli scandal, then former Roma midfielder Mancini
was found guilty of sexual assault and sentenced to 2 years in prison, now Sevilla President Jose
Maria del Nido becomes the latest big shot football executive to trade the plush setting of his
office suite for a cold hard jail bed.
Michel Platini has said he is at last confident Ukraine can host Euro 2012.
After several 'last chance' warnings over the past three years, the UEFA boss can tear a few fewer
hairs out now the four stadia do seem to be on track for next summer.
"A year ago, we were deciding whether to leave four or two cities," Platini told reporters on a
tour of Kharkiv.
It has been a troublesome time for Juventus since the 2006 Calciopoli scandal. Financially, the
club has suffered greatly and its reputation has been seriously tarnished too. Forced to play in
the Serie B as punishment for its involvement in the scandal that rocked Italian football, Juventus
enjoyed an extremely fruitful period prior.

Attendance at New England v Toronto game on Wednesday night in Foxborough MA was 6,680! The Revs
now officially have the lamest ownership group in all of MLS. They should be embarrassed to have so
few at their games. Shame on them. The fans, players, and staff all deserve better than the support
given to them by the Krafts.
In what has become a habit for Juventus, the Bianconeri dropped two points and settled for a
draw with Catania. Juve could not defend a 2-0 lead over the visitors who have yet to register
their first away win of the season. The Bianconeri squad is lacking in quality and this is evident
when the legendary but aging Alessandro Del Piero is the main source of creativity for the
team.
