MLS Notebook: Colin Clark out for the season, Montero belongs to MLS and more

Soccer By Ives 13 August @ 10:25 AM EST

By TRAVIS CLARK

With Wednesday's qualifier behind us—and most U.S. fans want to move on as soon as possible—it's important to remember that the MLS season is in full season and the playoff race is just starting to heat up.

Add to that the start of the CONCACAF Champions League next week and it's going to be a trying time for Columbus, Houston, and D.

MLS and Seattle Now Own Montero’s Full Rights?

WVHooligan 13 August @ 09:15 AM EST

Some good news perhaps this morning for Seattle Sounder FC fans. Reports out of Columbia say Deportivo Cali president Rodrigo Otoya came to the U.S. with VP Cesar Caicedo where they negotiated the transfer of Cali's portion of Montero's rights to Major League Soccer.

From what we already know, Montero wants to be in Europe and Cali nearly sold his rights to Europe this summer.

City's Looming Problem

Part-time Pundit 22 July @ 12:32 AM EST

I've been a little reluctant to bring up Manchester Ciy's summer of spending and thats mainly cause all they seem to have bought with their Emirate oil money, is a bunch of overpriced strikers! At last count I'm pretty sure they had about 9 of them (Adebayor, Bellamy, Benjani, Robinho, Santa Cruz, Tevez, Bojinov, Caicedo, Evans, and a couple of midfielders who can also mix it up front). What is Manchester City doing?

I Know Soccer 14 July @ 05:26 PM EST
Carlos Tevez has signed with cross town rivals Man City...good for him, bad loss for the Red Devils, trust me! Now it has been reported that they are after Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor...WHY?Don't they know that playing with 10 forwards and a keeper is just not going to work? They now have on their squad, officially:Robinho, Bojinov, Santa Cruz, Tevez, Caicedo, Evans, Benjani, and Bellamy. Strength in depth

Bitter and Blue 14 July @ 03:43 PM EST
Much is made of the strength in depth of the top four in comparison to rest of the Premier League, with an indication of this strength being the quality of your substitutes bench.
During 2008/09, the bench would routinely feature the likes of Hamman, Etuhu, Garrido, Evans, Caicedo, Gelson, Vassell and Glauber. Click to continue reading...

Bid for Adebayor reported

Bitter and Blue 14 July @ 06:04 AM EST
The mornings press is dominated by news that we have bid for Emmanuele Adebayor, with The Independent, Telegraph and Mail all reporting bids of between £20-£25 million for the Arsenal forward.
It does appear that Arsenal would be in selling mood, and Adebayor will in all likelihood be keen - seeing his wages likely doubled less than a year after his previous 50% hike in salary. Click to continue reading...

Eto’o and Tevez Potentially Agree To Join Manchester City

EPL Talk 29 June @ 08:54 AM EST

Well, two days are left until the transfer window opens again and Manchester City look like they've signed two strikers to help Mark Hughes drag them up the table. I suppose they need some good news down at Eastlands after the ground flooded on Saturday due to flash floods. With both signings, City could have an incredible 12 strikers on their books at the last count, but that number will fall by one on July 1st as young prospect Daniel Sturridge has agreed to join Chelsea.

City Fall But Can Hold Their Heads Up High

SoccerLens 17 April @ 12:22 PM EST

The night started badly, conceding after only 10 minutes, but what followed was one of the bravest and most pulsating performances in European football, in a week full of brave and pulsating performances.

Manchester City's game against Hamburg was a sensational spectacle for the first minute to the 94th and will rightly go down in history as one of the best City performances of the season.

City 2 Hamburg 1 (Hamburg win 4-3 on aggregate)

Bitter and Blue 17 April @ 02:28 AM EST
A fantastic performance then. Full of the passion, purpose and vigour that has largely been missing for the most part this season. Given the criticism directed at the players and management over the past few weeks (much of it justified) they are due credit for their approach and performances in last nights defeat, which left many players literally dead on their feet at the final whistle. Transfer deadline watch

View from the Shelf 01 September @ 01:53 AM EST
I generally hate the transfer window because it's an excuse for all bad papers to print simply made up rumours rather than attempt any actual journalism.  However the last day is always good fun.  I think that's mainly because I am a Spurs fan and we have a penchant for concluding deals at 23.58 in [.
