Andy Najar
by Vlad Bouchouev
There's been a lot of buzz lately about Andy Najar and which national team he will eventually join.
Much of this attention can be seen as a result of what I like to call "post-Rossi syndrome"; after
the USMNT lost out on Italian-American striker Giuseppi Rossi, the US media and US Soccer are
trying to make sure no more young US talent slip through our fingers.
1. Germany are through. That's the bottom line. Germany's proud record of always surviving the
group stage of a World Cup remains intact. Germany top their WC group for the sixth time in a row,
culminating in a Round of 16 clash with England. Not really what you wish for as a reward for
finishing first.
The Acrobatic Miroslav Klose Will Be Germany's Spear In The Heart Of The Three Lions.
So the big game has arrived at last. And for God's sake, don't mention the war!
Schweinsteiger, Ozil, and Jerome Boateng have all reportedly been passed fit, but striker Cacau
has been ruled out with an abdominal muscle strain.
So the only name you should be chanting today is
Cacau! (and Senor Pep, of course).
Cacau is a Brazilian-born German national team player (ah, a
concorrência!) who scored four goals in Stuttgart's 5-1 win last night
against Cologne.
Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris (Lyon)
With six saves against Real Madrid including a fine save off of a Ronaldo strike, the French
international was a major player in Lyon's victory.
Left Back: Per Kroldrup (Fiorentina)
Kroldrup scored the important away goal for La Viola and couldn't be blamed for either Munich
goal.
By Dominic Vieira, writing from Portugal
Playing at a World Cup is the pinnacle of any footballer's career and they're all desperate to
play in them. Many footballers possess dual nationality which is granted through their parents or
the country they are born in.

The Germans are ready
I may have been wrong in my pre-World Cup assessment about Germany.
I may have been really wrong.
Though it's just one match, Germany looked incredibly strong in a 4-0 dismantling of Australia
in the Group D opener.
Lucas Podolski, Miroslav Klose, Thomas Muller and Cacau all scored as Germany looked like the
best team to take the pitch so far in this World Cup.
Germany 4-0 Australia
2010 FIFA World Cup Group Stage
13 June 2010
The third place finishers from the 2006 World Cup, Germany, kicked off their 2010 Group Stage
with an impressive 4-0 win over Australia.
Overall, it was a solid performance throughout the German side as they had goals from four
different players and kept a clean sheet.
Germany looked strong in this game when they dismantled the Aussies 4-0. Lukas Podolski, Miroslav
Klose, Thomas Mueller and Cacau were on target to help Germany notch impressive win.

Ana is on her way to South Africa, so I'll be doing the games recap today. I hope you like
it!
Algeria x Slovenia
I can't say it was a great match, but I wasn't expecting a great match. The two supposedly
weakest teams in group C played a game without much excitement.
Lukas Podolski, Miroslav Klose, Cacau and Thomas Muller. Four goals. A comprehensive win. This
is the World Cup. This is Germany. Why did we all think it would be different?
Calm in possession, fiery in the tackle, good movement between the lines and technically sound,
the German crop of 2010 is hardly any different to any other German side presented in the last 14
years.
Both the England and United States will learn their second round opponents as Group D's final
round of games are set to play (ESPN/ESPN2, 2:30p.m.).
All four teams are mathematically alive and able to qualify from the group, depending on how the
results play out. Germany advances with a win, but so do their opponents Ghana.
Defending European champions Barcelona held out for a 1-1 draw in Germany against a a very
impressive but unlucky Stuttgart. This was the first time in a very long time that i have seen
Barca outclassed.
The Catalans were reduced to mere spectators in the first half as Stuttgart tormented Barca
defenders Puyol, Pique and Busquets for long periods of time.
Stuttgart 1-1 Barcelona:
I do not know why but this was the worst game of football I have seen from Barcelona during the
Pep Guardiola era. They gave the ball away far too cheaply and did not defend with their usual
aggressiveness. Academy product Sergi Busquets was a train wreck, to put it kindly, but they still
escaped with a 1-1 draw getting the all important away goal.
A sampling from 101gg's Goals of the Week. matias fernandez le génie What Craig Bellamy holding
the moral high ground says about your character. (Studs Up) Germans stampeding on Italy for that
fourth CL spot. (Bundesliga Talk) European refereeing just gets better and better. (Sid Lowe) If
video games were real, this guy would rule the world.
If I'd eventually got round to writing a Bundesbag last week the theme would have been on missed
opportunities after Bayern Munich's defeat at Frankfurt. While the leaders unbeaten run was coming
to a halt, the door was open for Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke to walk through. As it happened they
both declined.
No one particularly stood out in Spain or Italy last night (and in England, we presume everyone
from Louis Walsh to Tevez's milkman is talking about this kiss...
Oh sálvame, mío Dios!) So we decided to turn our attention to Germany because
Cacau from Stuttgart scored twice in their 2-1 win over Bayer
Leverkusen.
THIS is what we call Italian football passione! Of course,
following Roma's 2-1 victory over Lazio, Ranieri Doubtfire isn't the only one
they're going to be smothering now. Mirko Vucinic, who scored two goals, is the
Uomo del momento (and probably the more deserving Sunday
Senor.
Germany eased past Malta in this international friendly that included a virtual second string
line up selected by Joachim Low. Brazilian born Out of contract Stuttgart striker Cacau scored
twice before Malta's Kenneth Scicluna scored an own goal to seal the win for the home side.
Michael Ballack's injury in Saturday's FA Cup final was both ironic and damaging. Ballack was
injured by Kevin Prince-Boateng a former German youth international who now features for Ghana,
Germany's first group opponent. Adding to the irony is that Boateng's brother Jerome will likely be
on Germany's final 23 man squad.
Goals from Lukas Podolski, Mario Gomez and Cacau helped Germany to an easy win in Budapest.

Germany coach Joachim Loew is likely to stick with out-of-form Mirolsav Klose ahead of
Cacau in the lone striker's role.
Germany addressed the lack of goals in the World Cup in style. Die Mannschaft put on an impressive
display of attacking football to thrash Australia 4-0. The intelligent movement off the ball was a
joy to watch and a big change from the low-key affair seen so far. Mesut Oezil, Schweinsteiger,
Podolski and Khedira played with an understanding and fluency that was almost telepathic.
Germany 4
Australia 0
Germany strolled to victory over ten man Australia to instill ominous fear to the rest of the
world. A thundering strike by Lukas Podolski after ten minutes, flew past Mark Schwarzer who didn't
have a prayer stopping the powerful drive that went right through his laces.
We finally see a match with some goals in it, of course there have been some great matches so far
but they were nothing in comparison with Germany's imperious showing.
Germany - Australia
It was a great game, while Germany are a much younger and more technical team (read about that more
here), Australia are an aging, physical team.

Alemania 4 - Australia 0
convirtieron Podolski, Klose, Muller y Cacau.

Good afternoon everyone. The final action World Cup action is set to get started as Germany and
Australia (ABC, 2:30pm) wrap up Group D's opening round of games.
Germany seems to always enter a World Cup as one of the favorites, but a young, injury-hit team
might be vulnerable this time around.
orden.
