The Southend area saw heavy snowfall in the second week of January as temperatures dipped well
below freezing. Icy blasts led to treacherous driving conditions with some people telling us that
it took up to an hour to drive just two miles along the London Road (A13) at the height of the bad
weather.
Commuters in the Southend area have been left frustrated after trains on the National Express East
Anglia line were delayed by up to an hour this morning (Monday 4th).
The delays were due to the late finishing of engineering work around the Liverpool Street Station
area - despite
assurances yesterday from Network Rail management that services would be
running as normal this morning.
Travellers using the c2c service between Shoeburyness and London Fenchurch Street have the most
punctual service in Britain, according to the latest figures from Network Rail.
97.5% of trains on the London, Tilbury and Southend line ran to time during the month of March -
way ahead of the national average of 93.
