Earlier this week we speculated that Real Madrid's Christoph Metzelder was dating Marie Wellman,
a German public relations gal with a serious head of hair.
Looks like they're out and proud - they were photographed together at Berlin Fashion Week in
cuddle mode.
The German media has gone all a buzz about their boy Metze, (who plays for the German NT), being
all loved up.
With all the hype surrounding the UCL final, I almost let the ball slip on posting about the new
F50i Tunit's that Lionel Messi will be kitted in for tonight's match. FINALLY, Adidas have made a
boot that will compete with the slickness and sophistication of the Nike Mercurial Vapors and
Superflys!
From this video it sure sounds like it (3m in).
Currently FC Dallas holds the top spot in the allocation order. Buzz Carrick from 3rd Degree
wants it done, can you blame him? I wonder if Dallas would really pass on him if he came back to
the league. I also wonder if he'd be enough to get Dallas back into the playoff hunt this season
(doubtful).
Yes this Friday is the big day for us all, we learn who exactly the US will be grouped with in
next summer's World Cup. I recall the 2005 World Cup draw before the Cup in Germany the following
summer, that was a stressful day as we learned the group of death was going to involve the US.
Hopefully this time around things will go a little better for the US.
Ok, so Thursday and Friday still feel like a blur and well today, all that's left is the smell of
two day old vomit in a bucket and pictures to remind me of the mess Manchester United made of the
UEFA Champions League final. By now though, you've probably seen and read just about every report
in the world analysing the match so I'm going to take it from another angle.
This may come to be a bit of a surprise to most that follow DC United. According to Steve Goff
the club has removed interim New York manager Richie Williams from their shortlist of coaches that
they are looking to hire.
Goff says the club is looking to make a hire this week and is looking currently at former Kansas
City manager Curt Onalfo, some college coaches and some from overseas.
ESPN has released its first video to begin its promotion of the 2010 World Cup which it'll be
broadcasting in the United States.
The video is targeted at the average American mainstream sports fan and explains how global the
game is and destroys some of the typical criticisms about soccer such as the low scoring games, why
the United States isn't a soccer giantpower, and other stereotypes.
With super-secretive MLS contract terms making the research for this a real bastard, I finally am
here to submit my picks for the players who look most set to head to Europe in the offseason.Yura
Movsisyan and Chris Rolfe have already signed pre-deals to hop the pond, and they won't be alone in
augmenting the MLS alum association.

Grecia completó el rubro de los participantes europeos. Un único tanto de Dimitros Salpingidis a
la media hora del primer tiempo le sirvió para vencer a Ucrania y clasificarse para el segundo
Mundial de su historia 16 años después.
Afternoon all,
as everything has gone a little quiet in the last couple of days I have compiled a few players
that Arsene Wenger could look at to fill our defensive and defensive midfield vacancies.
First up a little round-up of the news: Andrey Arshavin has been bigging up Jack Wilshere and
has even gone on to suggest that there are more players in the youth system as good as he is, if
there are, this Arsenal team will be frightening in a few years.
A couple of weeks ago at the MTV Europe Music awards, rockstar Katy Perry turned the West Ham
United Umbro 2009/10 home kit into ultrasexy basque outfit to catch the eye of boyfriend Russell
Brand. Now to cash in on the buzz created by Perry's Hammers attire, West ham United FC is
launching a "limited run" [.
As soon as the season finishes, all attention is automatically turned to transfers, and about a
dozen new rumors and reports arise every day. Barca's been linked to just about every footballer
under the sun, we couldn't keep up with them if we tried. The most talk, however, has been in
relation to Inter Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahomovic, and the possibility of his coming to Barca;
there's also been a lost of buzz around the possibility of Eto'o being sold and Bojan leaving on
loan.
Oguchi Onyewu out for sushi with the lads. I fully support his decision to get rid of the corn rows
and go with a buzz cut. Muchos caliente! The boys from the USA keep fans up to date with their day
to day activities via Twitter. Today, Charlie Davies posted a few photos from the past few days

Danny Califf set to return to Major League Soccer. (Getty Images)
One way to be sure a new club is good is to get some solid defense and Peter Nowak is trying to
do just that. According to Soccer365.com Philadelphia Union is set to make a deal for the MLS
player rights to US National Team defender Danny Califf.
Stuart Holden deserves a raise, but will he get it? (Getty Images)
For a few weeks we've learned that Stuart Holden and Major League Soccer have been in serious
discussions about him staying in the league with the Houston Dynamo. Scotland's Evening Times is
reporting that the league has offered Holden a "ten-fold increase" in his salary.
Stuart Holden has plenty of offers now. (Getty Images)
We know MLS is trying to keep him but some clubs overseas want to have him pretty badly.
According to multiple reports out of England and Scotland, Premier League side Blackburn Rovers
is now in hot pursuit of Stuart Holden.
Of course that goes with Holden's other possible suiters in SPL clubs Aberdeen and Rangers.

The buzz of qualification is starting to wear off, and the overcast skies match my mood this
morning. So with that cheery thought in mind, let's plunge into some of the stuff cluttering my
desktop... Major League Soccer Clearly, Uncle Sepp's...
Freddy Adu's time at Portuguese club Belenenses appears over, likely for good according to
reports out of Europe (via SBI).
Belenenses has a new manager and he is cutting some dead weight, including Adu.
Adu had struggled for playing time with Belenenses since his arrival in the fall, but will now
face even stiffer competition for minutes at Benfica.
No notes from your doctor needed this time. The stage is set for you to join fans across the nation
to watch one of the biggest matches in Men's National Team history when they take on Brazil in the
final of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, live on ESPN and Univision, with coverage beginning at 2
p.
It's flying under the radar even by American soccer standards, thanks in part to the extensive
coverage of the cash cow "World Football Challenge" going on across the country, but the final
stages of the Gold Cup the CONCACAF confederation's biennial championship are upon us. Tonight I'll
be attending the semi-finals of the Gold Cup at Soldier Field, Chicago.
In a way I guess the writing has been on the wall for a while for this move (or any for that
matter) for Kenny Cooper. Today we have learned that FC Dallas has sold the star striker to German
side TSV 1860 Munich of the 2. Bundesliga pending a medical examination.
Not official word yet on how much the deal is for.
If you ask Joan Seivold, she will tell you she never meant to break records and push limits. But
that doesn't mean she's not competitive. She certainly is, and along with her experience and care
for her players, she nearly got an unexpected Blake School back to the Minnesota State High School
Tournament for a 3rd year in a row.
Time for more thoughts on the World Cup draw from yesterday. Most seem to still be happy with
the US draw in Group C with England. Hell even the folks across the pond in England love this draw
for themselves of course. I just wonder how long it will be before we see Tim Howard, Clint Dempsey
and Landon Donovan in Revolutionary War uniforms hyping this opening match with the Red Coats.
Since FC Barcalona gave up on Miami soccer for Major League Soccer the fans in the area have had
little to get excited about when it comes to MLS talk. Turns out today the supporters down in Miami
are trying to do something about it.
Mad About Futbol and Miami Soccer Fan have begun a drive to return MLS to Miami.
Photographs of Germany's football kit for the 2010 World Cup have been leaked.
As is always the case with Germany, Adidas have designed a beautiful jersey for the German
national team to wear when they play in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The new Germany World Cup jersey is white with a black trim.
For once the US Open Cup is getting it's just due for some hype going into tonight's final. It
sure didn't hurt that two of the league's best PR teams are in the final. DC United has done it's
best hyping the match against expansion side Seattle Sounders FC. Oh and there's been a fun back
and forth thing between the club's front offices.
Given - Solid presence once again and made a couple of important saves. No chance with either of
the goals. 6.5
Richards - Impressive both in defence and going forward. Linked well with Wright-Phillips and a
constant threat. Best game of the season. 8
Toure - Defence qualities are better than first thought.
According to Rob Beasley at News of the World, Tottenham boss Harry
Redknapp wants £30 million so that he can go after three players. Redknapp said,
"I really want to try get this club back to how it was, put us back to where we think we
should be. And if I can get the three players I want in the summer I think we will have a terrific
team that can really push on next season.
The last time I had a right buzz about football, Chelsea had just knocked Liverpool out of the UEFA
Champions League last year at the Semi-Final stage. Today's Lynch's FC v Baton Rouge Classics game
gave me an even bigger one.Today's USASA Region 3 US Open Cup qualifiers were interesting to say
the least.
Things are going all right, I would say. I think everyone now, for the most part, is completely
adjusted to the time. Maybe there are only a few left who are struggling to sleep. Thankfully, I'm
not one of them. The first night was definitely rough though. I was up at 4 am and couldn't fall
back asleep for the life of me.
It seems like all the buzz these days in comments at the Seattle Times, or at GoalSeattle, or even
in the seat right next to me is how much Fredy Montero sucks. Words like lazy are thrown out. Poor
passer. Bad Touch. Lucky first week. While certainly all of these may apply [...]
I thought I would higlight an interview done recently by my friend Kartik Krishnaiyer over at
Major League Soccer Talk. Kartik interivewed Misha Sher, a name I really wasn't very familiar with
but some Minnesotan's who have been involved with the game for a while may know.
Misha moved from the Ukraine to Minnesota back in the early 90's playing youth soccer here and
spending time on Minneosta ODP teams.
Arsene Wenger may be one fifth place finish away from the end of his reign as Arsenal
manager.
This time last year such a statement would have been laughed at, but is it really inconceivable
that the Arsenal fan's faith in Wenger would be permanently fractured should his young squad who he
has for so long talked up fail to claim a Champions League spot?
Arsenal opened their Emirates Cup participation with a last gasp win against Atletico, with 54,
224 in attendance. Both goals were scored in exquisite fashion, particularly the second, by our
own Rusiian magician Andrei Arshavin. Arsena's Starting XI Mannone Sagna – Gallas – Djourou
– Traore Eboue – Ramsey – Denilson – Bendtner Rosicky – van Persie There was a lively
buzz around the stadium before [.
When Buzz asked me to drop him a few articles on the state of soccer, I couldn't decide what to
name my articles and was stuck on "You can't handle the Truth," but thought it was to pretentious.
As a professional coach you always find yourself being second-guessed. At the same time you usually
surround yourself with people you trust for a second opinion.
With the impending addition of franchises in Philly, Vancouver and Portland, I thought it would be
interesting to see how much of a "sophomore slump" expansion franchises experienced in regards to
attendance.
Here are the numbers for the recent expansion teams, as well as Houston who moved from San Jose in
2006.
You know, soccer, there are codes of conduct in this world. One of them is that if you want to
end a relationship with someone you supposedly care about, you deal with them honestly. You don't
promise excitement and entertainment only to bore the hell out of them. But of course, that's what
you did with me, and I'm not real happy about it.
After an excellent performance against Canada on Memorial Day, playing under the adverse conditions
of a hard turf field and 10,000 hostile Canadian fans (ok, they weren't hostile. Canadians are
actually really nice folks), the U.S. players have returned to their WPS clubs, where they shall
stay until mid-July when the team regroups for another two matches against Canada.
