One of the tricky parts of any new FF season is choosing players from promoted teams that could
represent good value. Established favourites like Cech, Lampard, Gerrard and Torres are always
going to score points and be selected by thousands of managers. But its the new squads that often
have the cheaper players that hit form early and whose value rockets as players jump on board the
bandwagon early - think of Geovanni's early success at Hull last season.
A selection of talent from Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United, Chelsea, Everton,
Stoke City, Burnley, Sunderland and Aston Villa who should get more in the way of plaudits.
Yossi Benayoun (Liverpool)
A player who only seems to get his chance when someone is out injured or badly off form.
Many great strikers have scored hat-tricks for Liverpool down the years but which player has
achieved the incredible feat of 17 hat-tricks in nine full seasons?
Between 1926 and 1936, South African striker Gordon Hodgson scored an incredible 17 hat-tricks for
Liverpool, including a stunning 4 hat-tricks in a single season (1930-1931).

This gameweek is a double for a few teams including Fulham, which makes Brede Hangeland a fine pick
for the next couple of weeks given Fulham's forthcoming fixtures (Bolton, Sunderland and Burnley
after this week's double GW). Hangeland does well every season as a bargain priced defender, and is
a key choice for those looking to hone in on Fulham's potential clean sheets.

Graham Alexander is Burnley's captain, is £4.5m, and best of all is likely to line up in front of
his stated position. Alexander is listed in the game as a defender but he's really Burnley's
defensive midfielder. While he likely won't be earning clean sheet points every week, every little
bit helps.
Houston Dynamo star Stuart Holden has attracted interest from several clubs in the UK and the
latest news is that Burnley of the English Premier League is ready to make a move. Manager Owen
Coyle has stated his intention to have talks with Holden when his contract expires with the Dynamo
at the end of December.
Burnley, a "Lite" version of a real Premier League team
With the tech world abuzz today over the announcement that Facebook has created a Facebook Lite
product to take on Twitter, I figured we'd take a quick look at the Premier League's "lite"
offering: the newly promoted clubs Birmingham, Burnley, and Wolves.
The English Carling Cup began its second round of play on Tuesday August 25, 2009 with several
matches. The story taking center stage was violence breaking out between Millwall and West Ham
United outside Upton Park. One fan was stabbed but is in stable condition and there appear to be no
other serious injuries.
According to EPL Talk.com, ESPN has acquired the TV rights to two of the weekly Premier League
slots on US television for the 2009-2010 season. With FSC now having Champions League soccer and
ESPN Prem games, it seems that soccer on TV in the US has been turned on it's head. Beginning on
August 15, 2009, each week ESPN will feature the 6:45am CT Saturday game and the 2pm CT Monday
game.
Up until the past week, ESPN has been the golden child of Premier League coverage in the United
States. We've been spoiled by pictures in HD, match coverage that begins when the players enter the
tunnel, Monday evenings that bring us the UK feed of ESPN's coverage, and Saturday
mornings with Georgie Bingham and company.
Well, ladies and gentlemen. Another weekend of Premier League football beckons. Saturday Chelsea v.

We find it hard to concentrate on Cristiano Ronaldo's love life when he shows us thighs like
this. But for those who can focus, he's now dating Luana Belletti, sister to Chelsea's Juliano
Belletti.
Burnley's going to the Premier League. Certainly this is an occasion for novelty pants and short
tents?
By all accounts, Chelsea's tour of the United States thus far has been a rousing success both on
and off the field.
After playing in front of 65,289 fans on Saturday against Seattle Sounders at Qwest Field,
Chelsea played in front of another massive crowd Tuesday night at Pasadena's Rose Bowl.
Darren Tilley's Rochester Rhinos will not repeat their feat of 1999. The US
Open Cup Final will feature two MLS teams and two coaches who are part of the US system. USL-1 with
its British flavored football and coaches who tend to promote defensive tactics have been
eliminated from the tournament.
As one would expect in a game between a newly-promoted EPL team and the Ventura County Fusion,
which play in the fourth tier of American soccer.
Quite a different atmosphere than the one 90 minutes or so away in Pasadena, but no doubt
considerably cooler at Buena High in Ventura.
Thanks to loyal 100 Percent Soccer reader Evan Z from Camarillo for sharing some of the pics he
shot during the game.

the 2009-2010 season. Beginning on August 15, 2009, each week ESPN will feature the 7:45am ET

Those two weekly timeslots were previously held by Setanta Sports who in the past had
sub-licensed those games from Fox Soccer Channel.
The English Premier League continued it 2009-10 season with a full weekend of matches. On
Saturday August 30, 2009 there were seven matches inlcuding Manchester United v Arsenal, Bolton v
Liverpool, Chelsea v Burnley, and Tottenham v Birmingham. Here's a recap of all of Saturday's
matches along with video highlights.
The English Premier League starts back up after a few weeks off due to World Cup Qualifying in
Europe. There are several interesting matches this weekend in the EPL, including unbeaten Tottenham
Hotspur hosting Manchester United. In the USA, there are several matches that will be broadcasted
on Fox Soccer Channel, ESPN2, and Setanta Sports.
The Premier League returns this weekend and that means it is time to bring out the crystal ball
again. Last time out I went 7 for 10 and that brought my score for the season up to 20 out of 36
(56%). The weekend after an international week always thoughts up some upsets and this is how I
thing that this weeks games will go.
Winter is coming. The evenings are starting to feel a little fresher and the sun no longer
affords the heat that it did. After a break for the international matches, the Premier League is
back and it is back with a weekend of fixtures that might have been designed by a panel to show up
the best that club football has to offer.
Now that the Coca Cola Championship has come to a halt (temporarily, at least, with the playoffs
still to be played), us Premier League fans have three new teams to look forward to seeing next
season. While only Wolves and Birmingham have locked up promotion spots for next season, within the
next few weeks we'll know who out of Reading, Burnley, Sheffield United, and Preston North End will
be playing top flight footbal come August.
Wembley, the venue for Monday's Championship play off final.
Well the epic survival Sunday is now over and it included tears flooding in Newcastle and
Middlesbrough - not to mention Fulham qualifying for Europe and Ricky Sbragia quitting as manager
of Sunderland.
We now turn our attention to the Championship final tomorrow at Wembley between Sheffield United
and Burnley, contesting for that precious final place in the Premier League.
Holy Owen Coyle and co reach the big time Congratulations to Burnley on winning promotion to the
Premier League. Manager Owen Coyle was recently hailed as being God by a banner at Wrestlemania 25,
and he has certainly worked wonders to get the Clarets into the top-flight. And who could forget
the Miracle of Turf Moor?
This may not be all that news-worthy, but it does appear that Sky Sports inadvertently posted
Arsenal's early season schedule on their website before realizing their mistake and taking it down.
At any rate, their screw-up is our gain. This isn't official, but it seems to be legit while they
haven't apparently finalized the schedule yet, GoonerTalk, which broke the story, does have a
screen grab of Sky's site, and it would seem odd if Sky just made this up out of thin air.
After splurging £150,000 on a brand new Lamborghini Gallardo as a personal gift for Burnley's
promotion to the Premier League, former Manchester United player was left red-faced on the roadside
after cops seized his car for not being insured. And who said we only cover the big clubs? Posted

The Charity Shield illustrated several points of concern for EPL FF managers looking to Man Utd
defenders, and has started to turn decisions on players into something of a headache. Vidic has
been ruled out for up to two weeks with a calf injury, Ben Foster had some shaky moments in goal
which may have opened the door for Kuszczak.

It doesn't get much better than Manchester United vs Arsenal, arguably one of the biggest
rivalries in the entire world and by far the most prestigious match to the new campaign. Arsenal
has gotten off to an exceptional start this year, dominating Celtic, Everton, and Portsmouth with
goals galore and from unusual sources, such as William Gallas, their leading goal scorer.
Replace Seedorf with Van Persie's face and Adebayor definitely connects
Alright,
this is somewhat of a weak Funny Feeling Friday - because this player is a proven fantasy commodity
- but just hear me out on this one.
Adebayor is only owned by 6% of fantasy managers. Six percent.
Pompey mount revival. Following a miserable season start of 7 losses, conceding
13 goals and netting just 3 in the process, the South Coast club, rooted in last place, were
everyone's early season pick for relegation. But how quickly things change in football. In the last
4 matches, Portsmouth have scored 10 goals, conceded just 2 and amassed 7 crucial points
on the way to Premiership survival.
