Mildly exciting research published this week has revealed which football clubs sell the most
shirts around the world. You won't be surprised to find out that the list is dominated by
sportswear giantsNike and Adidas. In reverse order then...

Juventus (Nike): 400,000 - 600,000 shirts per season, on average

There is the ol' La Liga vs Premier League debate that has been going for a couple of
years now, but no one ever mentions Serie A in Italy which used to surprise me. Well according to
UEFA's coefficients the Serie A has slipped and another league is now considered 3rd best in
Europe..
Be prepared to flinch when you watch the above video from the Women's Bundesliga in Germany. The
thrower is Taoba Kemmy of FFC Turbine Potsdam, the woman in the way is Kerstin Garefreke of FFC
Frankfurt. Kemmy felt Garefreke was getting in her face while trying to a throw, so she threw the
ball straight at hers.

Bastian Schweinsteiger was finding girlfriend Sarah Brandner's attempts to capitalise on Sara
Carbonero's success a little wearing. Oh, fine. They're just messing about at the FC Bayern
Basketball vs. USC Heidelberg game in Munich. Love her polish.
In case ESPN don't know - this is what Eintracht Frankfurt look like
No doubt that not a lot of people will know, nor actually care, about what I'm going to write
but I shall do it anyway. During the current Bundesliga campaign this season there has been a live
game shown every Friday night.
The Montreal Gazette's Pat Hickey (via @jasondevos) doesn't seem to think so. While he pithily
writes that the problem with the CSA is that it's "run by amateurs," he immediately follows that
with "the biggest problem may be the failure to recognize that Canada simply isn't a soccer
nation."
If anything, it's the other way around, i.

Hats. An easy, functional, one step solution if you've been too drunk and/or lazy to wash your
hair. We've all been there.
But a little known bonus fact is that hats are also capable of elevating an individual's hotness
quotient by up to 30%**.
Whether Robinho (above) and Mario Gomez (left) have brought out their headgear in order to
conceal an outbreak of ‘party' hair or simply want to avail themselves of a cute boost, we
neither know nor care.
Bayern Munich sporting director Christian Nerlinger, who is in charge of the comings and goings
regarding the transfer market with the Bavarian giants, has launched a scathing review of two of
Germany's most promising young players. Under Joachim Loew, Sami Khedira and Mesut Ozil made
massive impacts in South Africa this summer at the 2010 World Cup, and attracted interest from the
biggest clubs in Europe.
Does football punishment get meted out equally across leagues, teams, and over time? That is, are
there patterns to penalties in football or are they fairly random? Most coaches will tell you that
home teams have an advantage - they often complain about biased referees after the match. And while
some of it may be whining, some of it may well reflect a pattern observed over years of watching
and playing in soccer matches.

DeMerit was released by Watford at the end of last season, but played in all of USA's games at the
World Cup and the defender is believed to be keen on a move to the Bundesliga where he would join
new signings Simon Kjaer and Arne Friedrich in the backline.
Chris Seitz raises his hand and apologizes for letting that softie in against KC this weekend.
Philadelphia soccer fans everywhere ask that he raise that hand when the ball is floating over his
head next time.
Peter Nowak offered words of support to the Union number one, but also criticized him for
failing to step up and make the big save.
If it doesn't concern Adrian Mutu, legal proceedings and the courts in general don't usually
concern us. However, the Bundesliga does concern us, largely because it's excellent and gaining in
excellence by the year, seemingly.
The two have combined today, with an EU court determining Germany's monopoly on gambling,
effectively keeping football clubs from benefiting from an increasingly present sector, is
unlawful.

While offensive production has been one important story of the Premier League season so far - in
particular for leaders Chelsea and Arsenal - matches aren't won with offense alone. At the end of
the day, it is the difference in goals that matters, and for that, defensive production is
important. Here's how the Big Four leagues stack up, using data from the 2009-10 season (no good
reason to assume this year will be any different).

Magonza avanti tutta.

Where will he fit in at the Lane?
Confirmation came tonight that Spurs have indeed signed Rafael Van der Vaart from Real Madrid.
The Dutchman is a decent player, a poor man's Wesley Sneijder in my view, but that doesn't make him
a dud by any stretch of the imagination. I wonder though where exactly he'll fit into the Spurs
lineup, with the excellent Luca Modric already established as the club's main playmaker, and Van
der Vaart lacking the pace or power to really impose himself on the Premier League from wide
areas.

The transfer window (finally) has ended. Even within minutes of the deadline, many teams were
scrambling to make some last minute trades, purchases, and loans. In fact, the final 10 transfers
for all the leagues were dominated by Turkish sides, such as Gaziantepspor, Trabzonspor, and
Kasimpasaspor, accounting for 7 of the top 10 transferred finished before the deadline.

national team-mates and battle it out for European Championship qualification.
Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez has revealed that he was on the verge of a loan switch to
Liverpool on the last day of transfers before the Bundesliga outfit prevented him from doing
so.
The 25-year old, who arrived at the Allianz Arena as Bundesliga's record signing from Stuttgart
last season, failed to hold down a starting place.

Aston Villa appears to have found its next manager.
According to reports, former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier will be named as the Villans'

most recently coached Lyon in 2005-2007.
