One of the things about the World Cup is that it puts the sport into perspective. With 64 games
in one month, it's easy to get a cross-section of where a country is. How well it's doing relative
to the other teams in the tournament. What the level of officiating is. And what improvements are
necessary.

You're looking at a leaked design sheet for Bayern Munich's new Adidas kits for next season. Two
words: tiny socks.
The home kit sees a switch to red-and-white vertical stripes their home kit this season
features an all-red shirt whilst the away kit sees another change of colour scheme (I've lost count
of the different away kits sported by Bayern), with horizontal white-and-sky blue stripes.
The 2010 World Cup is heading into the knockout stages, and just as the action in South Africa
is getting ready to really heat up, so are things on the transfer front.
Manchester United had a relatively quiet summer last year, but it doesn't look like that will be
the case this summer, as United look set to strengthen their squad in multiple areas.
I was seriously geeked for that Red Bulls-Royals game. And now...I mean, is it me? Am I just not
able to appreciate a tense game where not a heck of a lot happens? I just saw a lot of fouling and
a lot of diving, many times on the same play. If that's an MLS Cup preview - and it very easily
could be - Toronto's in for a terrible disappointment.
Inopportune moment caught on film via Getty Images.
Well, this certainly has us scratching our heads.
Sarah Brandner, longtime girlfriend of Bastian Schweinsteiger and recent body paint model, was
seen drunk cuddling/harassing his Bayern Munich teammate Holger Badstuber at their club's Champions
League banquet.
After all the hype and speculation surrounding a major transfer for Michael Bradley in the
aftermath of the World Cup, the 23-year-old New Jersey native stayed put at Borussia
Monchengladbach, and the Bundesliga club couldn't be happier to have him.
There is the ol' La Liga vs Premier League debate that has been going for a couple of
years now, but no one ever mentions Serie A in Italy which used to surprise me. Well according to
UEFA's coefficients the Serie A has slipped and another league is now considered 3rd best in
Europe..
Awwwww, Major League Soccer. If anyone should be an MLS fan it should be me. I grew up playing
the sport; I love watching the sport; I've covered the sport at the high school, college and
professional level; I have a blog called IntelligentSoccer.com. If the MLS can't win me over
there's something seriously wrong.

Here's the round-up...
Rumour No. 1: Despite only being in the job for less than a morning,
newly-appointed Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is already drawing up plans to spend
the £15 million transfer budget he has been handed.
He skipped out on MLS to head to Europe, is not even USMNT-eligible yet, and plays in a league with
none of the cache of the Prem or Bundesliga; but Yura Movisisyan is a player US fans should keep a
vigilant eye on as the next cycle of international soccer begins.
Yura scores goals, and is doing so with regularity at Randers in Denmark.

I'm a big fan of Sampdoria's kit in general, but I think Kappa have done a great job with it
this year.

Lionel Messi had the weekend off, putting in a relatively quiet shift, but Gonzalo Higuaín scored
again as Real Madrid kept up the pace in La Liga. Elsewhere two Argentines got their hands on the
French League Cup, Martín Demichelis donned a face mask to return to action for Bayern München

Sergio Aguero is one of the many high-profile transfer prospects on the market this summer
The World Cup will dominate the world's football focus this summer but that doesn't mean the
usual wheeling and dealing of the transfer market won't be in full force. Last summer saw the high
profile departure of Christiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid and Emmanuel Adebayor trading in the red of
Arsenal for the blue of Manchester City.
U.S. national team defender Jay DeMerit (Green Bay/Bay Port) could go in any
number of directions with his club career.
The 30-year-old is out of contract, having amicably parted ways with English club Watford after
six seasons with the London-area team, mainly spent in the second-division Coca-Cola
Championship.
By Clemente Lisi - NEW YORK, NY (Mar 4, 2010) US Soccer Players -- Thomas Dooley became a US player
almost by accident. After years of playing in the Bundesliga, and failing to get the call-up to
represent Germany, Dooley finally got a chance to play for the United States in 1991. Just as US
Soccer began scouring the world looking for eligible players to don the American jersey ahead of
the 1994 World Cup,.
Like a gambler in a casino, Sir Alex Ferguson went through a full range of emotions as he
watched his side crash out of the Champions League last night.
There was the initial euphoria of seeing his bets pay off as two surprise starters, Wayne Rooney
and Darron Gibson, were key to Manchester United storming to a three-goal lead against Bayern
Munich.

horizontal thin black pinstripes down the shirt," according to Todo Sobre Camisetas.
What do you think about the new Borussia Dortmund jersey?

Former FC Dallas striker Kenny Cooper could be on his way back to Major League Soccer this summer,
according to a report in the German publication Bild. With prospects of getting meaningful playing
time for 1860 Munich fading, Cooper is allegedly interested in returning to the United States to
get his career back on track.
Congratulations to German NT captain (for now, anyway), and Bavaria Munich player Phillip Lahm. He
married his girlfriend Claudia today in a two-part ceremony near Munich. Apparently, the tears were
flowing during the civil ceremony, but it's not clear whether they were from the bride, groom or
Lahmy fangirls across Germany and beyond.
The World Cup is over. The majority of fans had their hopes dashed and their expectations
disappointed. Time to shift our focus to a new season of Bundesliga football. One that will
invariably dash the hopes and disappoint the expectations of a majority of fans come May 2011. But
for now, everything from trophies, relegation, promotion or the birth of a new superstar is still a
possibility for every fan of every club.
Be prepared to flinch when you watch the above video from the Women's Bundesliga in Germany. The

Bastian Schweinsteiger was finding girlfriend Sarah Brandner's attempts to capitalise on Sara

Soccerlens bring to you: The Cheaters XI which is basically just the England squad of

Clint Dempsey is the model American player in Europe right now. Having gone through three
managers at Fulham after rejecting any and all overtures to stay in MLS, Deuce is the inverse of
Landon Donovan. Now Donovan appears ready to assert himself in a loan spell at Everton.
Rejecting his comfort zone for a challenge that would raise his quality and relevance as a
player, Dempsey has become the signature American player for fans of the European game.
An intriguing topic to so many who follow MLS is just how good is this league? I commonly refer
to it as between the 15-25 range, but that is a wide range, and highly subjective. Without the Holy
Grail of statistics finding a unified number across leagues though can there be an objective study
on league strength rather than the classic arguments centered on the top third of a league or its
middle third?
For most Europeans, the January transfer window is all tease and no touch. Very few moves of
true import happen in January, and that is especially true in a World Cup year, where players would
rather see if the tournament can up their stock. However, for American soccer stars, the January
transfer window, which occurs during the MLS off-season, is their best chance to find a new
home.

For the US to find success at the FIFA World Cup this summer, Michael Bradley will have to play a
large part in it.
Luke Cyphers of ESPN writes of the emerging workhorse in the US midfield.
Unfortunately, "enough" isn't a word Bradley understands. About matters of soccer, he is never
satisfied.
The German Bundesliga season kicks off tomorrow, when current champions Bayern Munich host
2008/9 champions Wolfsburg (who will be managed by none other than Steve McClaren). Things are
looking pretty rosy for the league, with a mix of big names and exciting young talent, a shiny new
logo and now kerching a more lucrative international broadcasting deal.
