Usually I'm not one to look forward to Monday, but the start of a new week during transfer season
usually means that there's plenty to talk about. Jermain Defoe has dominated the roundups recently,
but now that he's finally being sold (you can guess where), we'll have to find a new flavor of the
[.
It's a somewhat quiet day in transfer news and rumors, but there are still several tidbits to
report on from multiple leagues. England Talks between Carlos Tevez and Manchester United over a
permanent deal are reportedly at a stalemate due to Tevez's demands for £120k a week.
Analysis: The deal will get done, simple [.
Oh, the surprises that are in store! No, I'm not talking about the FA Cup third round, but the
January transfer window. The window's started, and soon, a flurry of footballers will be flying in
and out to new destinations. How many of them will end up at Manchester City? Well, at least [...]
Fabio Cannavaro, Carlos Tevez, Michael Ballack, Michael Owen, Mark Van Bommel, Fred... these are
but a few of the players whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season. And with the
january transfer window practically at our doorstep, it is time to give these "old
timers" a chance they are still [.
It's always nice when the transfer news and rumors are spiced up by speculation involving top
names, and today's transfer roundup includes a few rumors involving some of the beautiful game's
big stars. Do these rumors have any foundation? Well, judge for yourself below. England The
Cristiano Ronaldo-to-Real Madrid rumors have picked a nice [.
We're already halfway through the January transfer window, and while there has been more
speculation than signings thus far, that could be set to change in the next week. As you would
expect, we have the latest on Manchester City's attempts to sign Kaka, but he's not the only player
they're after, and there [.
After all those years in sunny southern California, Landon Donovan may have forgotten just how cold
and snowy it can be when German football enters orange ball season. If practicing all week in the
cold and blowing snow wasn't enough top remind him, playing the second half of a friendly today at
Regionalliga side Eintracht Bamberg should have done the trick.

German soccer weekly Kicker has just put out its annual mid season list of "Tops and
Flops" and Borussia Moenchengladbach's Michael Bradley made the list - the wrong one.
The annual list is complied based on interactive results from the magazine's fantasy soccer
managerspiel but the results are usually pretty reliable.
Finally, the transfer deals are starting to come through in bunches. Am I just getting my hopes up
that I'll have a lot more of these to talk about over the rest of the window, or is this is a sign
of things to come? England Could Andrei Arshavin buy out his contract to make his [...]
We're edging towards the final week of the January transfer window, and while you'll likely hear
more about a few new signings tomorrow, Sundays seem to be set aside for speculation from the
tabloids. England Manchester City are prepared to offer £70m plus either Jo or Elano for
Valencia's David Villa in the summer.
We're into the final week of the January transfer window, and there are several signings to report
on today. Nothing big, but the least attention-grabbing ones can have the biggest impact down the
line (see Zaki, Amr). And since I'm in such a giving mood today, there's a big ol' batch of spec
[...
Even without much to report on in the Kaka-Manchester City situation (besides more people weighing
in with opinions, talks of meetings between the Kaka camp and AC Milan, and possible fan protests),
there's still plenty to run over in transfer news and rumors. England Manchester City are close on
deals for Craig Bellamy (£12-14m - [.
Stuff to read while you make an arse of your newspaper (answer is in the comments)..... Top 50
young rising stars in football. (Times) Interview with Bill of the excellent Bill's Sports Maps.
(EPL Talk) The hilarity of Chelsea's next away locker room visit. (Unprofessional Foul) The
Bundesliga's goalkeeper-cum-pirate.
In case you hadn't heard or read already, Manchester City have failed in their bid to sign Kaka
from AC Milan. However, the January transfer window has not come to a stop, and there's plenty to
talk about in today's roundup of transfer news and rumors. Spain Though Kaka has turned down City
(or [.
Today's transfer roundup isn't light on the latest news and rumors about who definitely will be
headed to new clubs and who could be in the near (or distant) future. England Manchester City have
opened the bidding for Newcastle keeper Shay Given, tabling an offer of £8m for the Irishman.
(Daily Mail) Analysis: Newcastle might [.
Bayern Munich won its second straight winter break friendly last night, beating Al-Wehda 3-1 in
Jiddah, Saudi Arabia. Making his second appearance for the Bavarian juggernaut, American Landon
Donovan came on as a second half replacement for Luca Toni at forward.
Goals by Frank Ribery and Tim Borowski in the first half had the visitors up 2-0 before Al-Wehda's
Al-Kuwaikabi made a brilliant carry through the Bayern defense to slot home a 53rd minute goal to
make it 2-1.
acabado [.
The clock is tick-tick-ticking, and the end of the January transfer window is one day closer. If
you haven't signed that top target by now, you need to get a move on, because just like the month
has flown by, Monday evening will be here before you know it. With the futures of [...]

Reports out of Germany this morning indicate that Bayern Munich is close to sending Lukas Podolski
back to his old club, 1st FC Cologne. The five-million euro deal will open the fourth striker space
on the Bayern lineup, a space which Donovan will be filling during his loan period.
This long-expected development could open a new opportunity for Donovan to stay in Munich longer,
perhaps until the end of the Bundesliga season (if not longer).
We gave you the Greatest Teams of All Time. Now, it's time for the worst! Without further ado,
let's go over the criteria that I used: Expectations are Everything. Look at it this way. If you're
from Luxembourg, and you know that the only way you're qualifying for the Euros [...]
Anyone a fan of underdogs has surely loved Hoffenheim's run as pacesetters for the Bundesliga this
term. From small village team to cream of the German footballing crop, Cinderella stories get no
bigger. And if we were to label one player as Cinderella herself, it's hardly a contest: Vedad
Ibisevic, the Bosnian striker leaving the [.
After 3.3 million votes cast by 256,000 online users (slightly less than last year), the uefa.com
Team of the Year 2008 was revealed earlier this week. As can usually be expected with these things,
this starting eleven will please many and disappoint others (especially those whose favorite player
was not selected) but this being said, [.
Bayern Munich put the league on notice that they are taking no prisoners when Bundesliga play
resumes this weekend after tonight's 5-1 thrashing of VFB Stuttgart in a German Cup quarterfinal
match. Bastian Schweinsteiger opened up scoring for Bayern with a 14th minute goal followed two
minutes later by Franck Ribéry in the 16rth for a 2-0 lead.
Most transfer rumours make me want to spit. It's usually players wanting money and clubs throwing
it at them. And even though we ultimately don't care for the people involved, we wind up following
the drama as it unfolds on newspaper back pages and Sky Sports News. See Cole, Ashley, 2006, or
Berbatov, Dimitar, 2008.
If you haven't already taken our weekend quiz on Bundesliga and La Liga players, stop by here
first. Then come back to this post for the answers. Player 1 Eric Abidal, FC Barcelona Player 2
Timo Hildebrand, Hoffenheim And while I was looking for that photo, I found this one of Timo, which

I'm sick as a dog today so here are a few things to keep the you hungry vagabonds satisfied.
DaMarcus Beasley is not ready to leave Rangers in Walter Smith's January fire
sale.
In yet another sign that Fulham's Clint Dempsey is finally coming into his own, a
London paper calls him the "One to Watch" in this weekend's match against West Ham.
So if Bayern was royally pissed a CGI Allianz Arena was blown up on TV for the purposes of a movie
trailer (a Keanu Reeves movie at that - vid below), how do you think they'll feel about their star
left back climbing through a steel fan? Probably not too well, eh? Because magic's totally [...]
On the same day when Cristiano Ronaldo wrecked his Ferrari in Manchester, Bayern's top star Frank
Ribery has damaged a bit bigger vehicle in Dubai. German giants' star midfielder felt it was a good
idea to take a wheel and give his teammates a ride around the block, but his joke didn't end the
way he wanted to.
The Catalan giants have been given the chance to sign the Argentina international in the summer.
Carlos Tevez's long-term future at Old Trafford has been in question for some time now, with
Manchester United thus far failing to agree a fee with his owners. MSI, the owners of the Argentina
international striker, have offered his [.
The German striker could be on the move.
The German striker had just scored Stuttgart's consolation goal in the 5-1
cup defeat to Bayern Munich, and was doing the sad slow walk to the center circle that only
consolation goalscorers know. But Martin Lanig added an extra layer of misery by inflicting some
testicle-pain on his goalscoring teammate, instantly making Lanig [.

Fans of the Bundesliga have been waiting for this one a long, long time, and were they ever
rewarded for their patience. Though the scoreline would indicate otherwise, it was a wide open game
with a plethora of chances at either end - and quality chances at that. You'd think it's just a bit
of [...]
Manchester United ace Carlos Tevez has risked the wrath of Sir Alex Ferguson by reacting to the
manager's comments over his contract situation. "I want to stay but the club have not made any
offer. I've been waiting for them for a year and a half." More... COLOMBIAN striker Hugo
Rodallega is on his way to [.
