Finally, we have some signings, because it can get a little boring talking about speculation
sometimes. Reports indicate that Chelsea have beaten Manchester United and Juventus to the
signature of Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic. Chelsea have agreed a 8.9 million GBP deal with
Lokomotiv Moscow for the 23-year old, who looked to be [.
I'll get today's transfer roundup started by getting your obligatory Berbatov tidbit out of the way
first. Juande Ramos has slapped a 31 million GBP price tag on his prized asset. So, if you want to
get him, you'll have to pay an arm and a leg to get him, or, if you're [...]
Michael Bradley, son of US Coach Bob and the great hope of the US National Team, will probably be
leaving Holland this summer for a bigger pond (and presumably more money.) The twenty-year-old, who
scored his first goal for the senior team over the summer in the Gold Cup, is apparently not
interested in [.
All over Europe some strange happenings have transpired so far this year, eliciting massive amounts
of drama. Some of it warranted, some of it not so much. But what would the media sport be without
drama? Nothing, I say. And absolutely nothing gets the drama pumping like a good benching. From Jen
Lehmann to Ronaldinho [.
Real Salt Lake is trying to build their defense up before Friday's SuperDraft. According to this
article on MLSnet (near the bottom) RSL is about to sign Ian Joy(left) from FC St. Pauli of the 2.
Bundesliga. Kinda a random piece of information in that article to throw out there for the readers.
Joy is American [.
venden humo.
Just when you thought it was safe to assume the Premier League would be free from a certain mad
German goalkeeper, the Daily Telegraph have reported that Jens Lehman is staying put at Arsenal -
for the time being at least. It appeared the German number one was bound for Borussia Dortmund but
'personal reasons' [.
I think somebody should do a study to determine whether the amount of money a club has is directly
proportional to the amount of drama. I suspect it is - partially, at least. The more money you
have, the better players, the bigger the egos, and the more the locker room begins to resemble the
[...]
It happens every single transfer window. One of more potential transfers begin to turn into a soap
opera, and it leaves the rest of the world hitting that "overexposure" button fervently. Alex
Ferguson did his best last summer to avoid another Owen Hargreaves incident by waking up one
morning, calling Portugal and poaching two big [.
Match fixing doesn't pay in Germany. Or rather, it does pay, to the tune of €67,000 and a plasma
TV. But if the German soccer federation has its way, it will cost you in the end. German referee
Robert Hoyzer was convicted in 2005 of manipulating or rigging several German games back in 2004.
I don't know what's in the water in Gelsenkirchen, but whatever it is it isn't good. As you can see
in the picture to the left of Ozil, disasters are abound; and it appears this isn't an isolated
incident, as former Schalke 04 product Timo Kunert, currently of Hamburgler SV, rocks a similar
coiffe (picture [.
(We're bringing back the series.) Ivan Rakitic isn't exactly a complete unknown, but he's still
flying under the radar when it comes to the casual fan. He's a 19 year old attacking midfielder
currently playing for Schalke 04, with a much improved haircut over their other midfield phenom.
Before his move to the Bundesliga this [.
Contrary to earlier reports, Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann will be staying at Arsenal until the
Summer. I reported on Wednesday that the keeper had all but signed a deal with Borussia Dortmund
with only minor details to be sorted out. However, Lehmann has decided to stay in the Premier
League, promising to fight for a starting spot rather than be ensured regular first-team football
in the Bundesliga.
Those stubborn Germans are still refusing to fussball spielen, claiming it's too cold outside for
that sort of thing. But the Italians and the Dutch are a little tougher. So Serie A returns with
the debut of The Duck while the Eredivisie brings us a mouth-watering top of the table clash.
Meanwhile in England and [.
Reports are out that Juventus manager Claudio Ranieri is interested in signing Werder Bremen and
Brazil midfielder Diego. Claudio Ranieri was reported saying that they must get their signings
right this summer because previous signings did not live up to expectations.
Ranieri also admitted that Tiago and Sergio Almiron have failed to live up to expectations.

In the wake of Ottmar Hitzfeld's resignation as Bayern Munich gaffer (effective at the end of the
season), Franz Beckenbauer is now officially on the hunt for a new victim, and he's starting with a
certain Portuguese.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that Jens Lehmann is free to leave the Gunners during the
transfer window, but maintains that the veteran stopper has not yet decided on his future.
Rumors had it that Borussia Dortmund, the player's former club, were set to announce Lehmann's
signing yesterday, but the day passed with little transfer movement of note, and Lehmann still at
Arsenal.
This is the only photo I've ever seen of Bayern Munich goalkeeper Olli Kahn that didn't make me
want to shriek in fright, cover my eyes, and run away. Must be love. (Pictured with Munich teammate
Willy Sagnol.)
The news of recent on the Brazilian front has circled around the rotund duo of Ronaldo and Adriano,
as they try and get their careers back on track in the homeland. Well before them came a legend in
the world of unfulfilled expectations and rotundness with a career which could be slipped into Days
of [.
About a month ago we posted a link in the Daily Dose to a very good column by Ralph Hogistein (he's
good, you should check him out, really) regarding the dominance being displayed by the little men
in Germany; specifically three names: Diego, Rafael van der Vaart (yes, he's still somewhere in
Germany, not [.
I'm beginning to imagine Rafael van der Vaart's life in Hamburg consists of being followed by a
team of beat reporters, most of whom hail from the northwest corner of Italy, who rumble for the
day's quote du jour in a Linus-like cloud of dust. Either that or he's masquerading as a member of
the [...]
Forget the long search, the flirting with Mourinho, and the months spent feeding the rumor mill:
Franz Beckenbauer already has his man, and it's Jürgen Klinsmann.
•The best 3 v 3 tournament of all time. •Klinsmann is back! •We're off to see the wizard (in
Seattle). •Buy yourself a coaching gig. •Hands up, who wants to be Giuseppe Rossi? •What went
wrong for Big Sam? •Streaker pwned! •The continuing saga of that classy Rafael van der Vaart.
For the second summer in a row, Werder Bremen will lose one of their best players to their rivals
from Bavaria. After Miroslav Klose famously pulled an Ashley Cole with the Bayern hierarchy late at
night in a foggy train station on the outskirts of town, Tim Borowski will be taking the road from
Bremen [.
This is not what you want from your club's record breaking transfer purchase. After splashing out
8.5m last summer, Carlos Alberto has gone from phenom to enfant terrible in the span of the time it
took to get from the airport to Bremen's training facilities. The most action Carlos has seen on a
pitch is [.
Bayern, and to a certain extent Inter Milan, are the 2 other clubs that I've supported apart
from Arsenal. WHY? Because my favorite player used to play for both teams. When I first started
following football (1990), the country I supported in the group stage went on the win the World
Cup, and their captain became my favorite player until he retired in the late 90s.
Earlier this month, Urawa Reds took another step in their effort to replace the goals they lost
when Jefferson left, securing the signature of Eintracht Frankfurt striker and Japanese
international Naohiro Takahara, and it's now being reported that they're set to send midfielder
Makoto Hasebe back the other way, to Bundesliga side Vfl Wolfsburg.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z29_fBo6WCM Question: How bad-ass do you have to be to have a song
like this named after you? Answer: Ollie Kahn bad-ass. That's how bad-ass. And the best thing about
this song comes from an Wikipedia. (It's unsourced, so accept or reject based on whether or not you
want to believe it):
German Bundesliga teams were back in action for the first time in more than a month today, with a
quartet of games in the DFB Pokal Round of 16 on the docket. Half were upsets, with a third turning
on three goals scored in the waning minutes. Table toppers Bayern Munich were the only favorites
spared the ignominy of defeat.
