Former England manager Kevin Keegan has added his five-penneth to the debate
over the slump in Wayne Rooney's form, inferring that the Manchester United
striker's 'confidence has been shot' following the torrent of tabloid bulls*t that has recently
fallen in his lap.
After the US Open Cup play-in victory over the Colorado Rapids, Hans Backe
addressed the media in his usual postgame q&a. One question came up asking who amongst the Baby
Bulls had earned their way to first team minutes.
The answer was revealing, more so for the omission than for the players named:
"Danleigh Borman was a defender on the outside and he is playing better and
better as a left back.
With Rafa Marquez, Dane Richards, Bouna Coundoul and Roy Miller all out on international duty, the
Red Bulls put in a dominating performance against a strong Toronto FC team, taking three points at
home, and ending their five game winless streak with a 1-0 victory last night at Red Bull Arena.
The Bulls lineup had a [.
DBAP/ DURHAM I think I mentioned the Chris Richard-Ben Jukich connection a sufficient number of
times over the last couple of seasons to summon, finally, the event that highlighted last night's
8-1 Bulls win over Louisville. In May of 2009, Richard tied a rare record, hitting two grand slams
in a single game.
One thing Gombak United have had going for them over recent years has been stability but that is
over now with players like Gabriel Obatola and Kingsley Njoku not having their employment passes
renewed for whatever reason.
Both players have impressed during their time with the Bulls, alongside Agu Casmir, and there were
hopes that they would follow in his footsteps.
Gombak United slipt into second place in the SLeague after overcoming Young Lions last night. Goals
from Chang Jo Yoon and Fazrul Nawaz put the Bulls ahead of highflying Balestier Khalsa and Etoile,
just a point behind Tampines Rovers
Dear Readers, Fans and Soccer Lovers,
I will be doing two things I have not done in a very long time:
1 I'm going on vacation . . . well, more like my Honeymoon. I got hitched back in October, and
this winter allowed me no breaks. The last vacation I had was a trip to Boston two years ago hardly
a getaway if you ask me.
Edson Buddle is here to stay after a wonderful performance against the Expansion Union of
Philadelphia. I can honestly say that I didn't see this coming, but I am pleasantly surprised at
how wonderfully this dude is playing for a Galaxy team that looked to be dead-in-the-water because
of the loss of David Beckham.
I slept 12 hours last night, and I still feel like crap. But the cure?! Seeing Red! and our 10th
Episode Anniversary, featuring the one and only Shep Messing!
Lots of show highlights, including:
-
- Sheps scathing thoughts on Dane Richards (you would think he was a part of
our show with that kind of rant!
Al margen de los Raptors, su actual equipo, se encuentran Bulls, Lakers, Heat y Knicks. Leer

SAFFC v Gombak United 0-1 (Park Kang Jin) 2,652
SAFFC missed the opportunity of moving within 6 points of leaders Tampines after falling to the
Bulls at Jalan Besar Stadium.
Geylang United (pictured above) after their exit from the AFC Cup, notched up some impressive
result only until recently they lost to Balestier in the Cup SAFFC on last mid-week and Etoile over
the week.
SAFFC's (pictured below) topsy-tury form continue after bounced back to beat Geylang, lost to an
impressive Bulls in front of live TV audience, despite coach Bok claimed his team worked hard which
was something for all to convince if that's the case.
No-one can explain football. Where you have a relatively even playing field where a team's finances
and quality cancel each other out then anything can happen. And that has to be a good thing surely?
Or Shirley?
It's boring when the same teams dominate year after year. Teams like Chelsea, Manchester United,
Barcelona, SAFFC.
A Sun Times piece today reminded me that the Fire still has a long way to go in terms of
coverage and simple respect among the local the media. Here are some random observations and
comments on the Sun Times piece and a few others.
Today's online Sun Times sports section featured an article asking the question, "Which Chicago
team will win the next championship?
Whether it is a source of pride or the origins of angst, former Metro Bulls are killing it at
this years World Cup!
Michael Bradley, Tim Howard, and Jozy Altidore have been key components to a dangerous American
side. At one point during the legendary England match, the team featured five former Metro Bulls on
the pitch.
It's going to be very difficult to write this because I am sat near a French person who cannot stop
talking about himself in, admitedly bloody good English, but I just wish he would shut the rubber
duck up. Anyway this post is best read in an 'Allo 'Allo accent.
Qiu Li may have got the plaudits with his two goals but at the heart of this win was Japanese
midfielder Akihiro Nakamura.
Interesting game tonight in the SLeague when Gombak United take on Etoile at Queenstown Stadium.
The Bulls' title challenge has disappeared in a season of frustrating inconsistency but they are
the only team to have defeated the French team this season.
Since that defeat in April they have gone 10 unbeaten (8 wins) and not conceded a goal in the
SLeague.
Phil Jackson is posed to make a run at a Los Angeles Lakers three-peat. The Lakers head coach
told the team that he'll be returning for his 11th season with Los Angeles. It will be an even 20
in his NBA coaching career.
After receiving a clean bill of health, Jackson made the decision to return to the bench for the
2010-11 NBA season.
Come blow your vuvuzela! It's time to get on the horn as the Rapids stumble into midseason
following a promising start. (Photo by Jonathan Ingraham/ColoradoSoccerNow.com)
I feel like the old announcer in "Bull Durham" when he proclaims that it is time to call it like
it is.
While he rails on it being the worst Bulls team in a half-century, my concern is on a Colorado
Rapids squad that is stumbling toward the All Star game after starting the season with such
promise.
-Y es que Alberto Contador ya gano tres Tours. En está ocasión le acompañaron Andy Schleck y
Denis Menchov, Manuel Sanchez termino cuarto.
Mark Cavendish gano su quinta victoria de esta edición del Tour y por otro lado Armstrong se
retira definitivamente del Tour y declaro que pensaba estaba mas preparado.
Thai Port have been drawn against Bangkok FC (formerly Bangkok Bravo) in the first round of the
Toyota League Cup. I am not familiar with the format of this hastily arranged competition, so I
cannot say for certain if the tie will be played over one leg or two. We are definitely scheduled
to play Bangkok FC on Sunday 29th of August @ '72nd Anniversary Stadium', with rumours of a second
leg @ PAT Stadium on either the 1st or 2nd of September.
Mungo time again. This week, our heroes bounce back from their opening day disappointment with
a corporate gig at a dairy farm. Peril, inevitably, ensues. Fans of teams who have had a
stuttering start to the new campaign may be able to take heart at the knowledge that there are
worse things in life than losing football matches.
Stevenage travel to Edgar Street to face bottom of the league Hereford tomorrow night. It's
just 3 days after Boro recorded their first ever away win in the Football League on Saturday
against Lincoln. If there was ever a perfect opportunity to get consecutive results away from home
then this is it.
My goal this Sunday is to run the phrase "Nut Cuttin' Time" into the ground.
Sitting in my cubicle, calm and collected, feeling that gotta get mine perspective, I turned to my
co-worker and announced that I was feeling such a sentiment and that my work life was getting
pretty crazy with a ton of projects and launches all due out at the same time.
Well, you can add this one to the catalog of gut wrenching, disappointing ends to a New York
season. It's tough to put into words what this loss means. Bobby Convey and
Chris Wondolowski were the difference tonight as the Bulls, up 1-0 on aggregate
coming into tonight's match, fell 3-1.
Lucas Leiva, one of the most hated Liverpool personality by its own fans. In the 2009 to 2010
season in the English Premier League, I could read a lot of negativity about Lucas.
"Lucas is? f**kin s**t. He should go home and quit."
"This guy is a bulls**t? player, just like Babel and Voronin.
At the very second the alarm went off my hand reached and in one smooth movement hit the button
for snooze. Another 9 minutes of blissful dozing.
"Wow", said Jack Wilshere from the other side of the room, "that was impressive".
"Jack Wilshere! What are you doing in my bedroom?", I asked.
