Dateline NBC Calls Out Two Local Collection Agencies

Buffalo has a ton of collection agencies. Most are reputable companies who follow the rules and laws while trying to collect old debt.

But Chris Hansen of Dateline NBC did a 6 part series on "the Debt Trap" and included two local debt collection companies who were caught on hidden cameras engaging in some not so tasteful tactics.

Unemployment in WNY Jumps to 9%

The revised figures for the year-over-year period from January 2008 to January 2009 were released today and they don't look very good.

The state Department of Labor says unemployment jumped to 9 percentin February, compared with 6.3 percent in January 2008 and 7.1 percent in December.
