Rafa Benitez said he would quit Liverpool if Fernando Torres is sold. The Spanish striker could
have been sold last summer to Manchester City if Benitez had accepted their offer – and there
will no doubt be more enquiries coming in for Torres until the day he does actually leave.
But what is remarkable about the offer made to Liverpool last summer is the scale of the City bid:
£70million for Torres plus and additional £30million for Javier Mascherano.

Rafael Benitez has held talks with his Liverpool bosses over the implications if the club fail to
reach the last 16 of this season's Champions League.
Discussions were also held on if the club fail to qualify for next season's lucrative European
competition.

Chelsea's transfer ban has been temporarily suspended by the Court of Arbitration for Sport
(Cas) pending a final decision on the matter.
Fifa had ruled the club could not sign players until 2011 after inducing Gael Kakuta to break

Him and Martin Skrtel have had a shaky start to the season and again at West Ham he didn't have the
best of games.
