Bryan Robson's first taste of Asian football came last Saturday when Thailand traveled to
Singapore. He came through that test with flying colours as the Thais comprehensively beat the
Kallang Roar-deficient Singapore 3-1. That win boosted his credentials as a legitimate national
team coach. What was even better that Saturday was that Noh Alam Shah, Singapore's best player
would be suspended on Wednesday (today) when Thailand hosts Singapore at the Rajamangala Stadium.

First 20 minutes the Thais showed why they are best side in ASEAN as their slick passing and
intelligent moving tore the Singapore rearguard to shreds.
Prompted by the impressive Datsakorn Thonglao at the heart of the midfield the Thais spread the
play and often had the Singaporeans chasing shadows.

SHORT SCRIBE OF THE GAME
The first thing you noticed at the ground was the heavy security at the stadium.
Given the stakes were high and big crowds were expected that the organizers had decided to
segregate both groups of fans from one and other.
And like most games played in Kallang in the recent years, it would always be the away fans that
drummed up the atmospher (Why are we the passive lot?

After 27 years supporting Middlesbrough Football Club, I could be forgiven for thinking I had
seen it all. Cup finals, relegations, promotions. Liquidation, Europe. Memorable victories and
crushing defeats. I thought nothing about the club would ever truly surprise me again. Tuesday
night, I was proven wrong.

The Thai national team, under the watchful eyes of coaching duo Bryan Robson and Steve Darby are
heading down to Phuket for a few days.
They have a kick around on 24 October before playing against HAGL, newly crownd Muang Thong United
and some teams from Myanmar in the Word Cup.
I guess all this means Arsenal will have to wait a bit longer for Kosin who they had hoped, and
told the media, would arrive this weekend.

This mini tournament takes place late October and sees the Thai national team taking on Muang Thong
United from the Thai Premier League, HAGL from the V League in Vietnam and Yadanarbon from

Bryan Robson is currently sitting at home with a piece of A4 and the DVD playing non stop. What
he's doing is learning the Thai players nicknames so when he arrives in a couple of weeks to
formerly take charge he will have at least some idea of who will be in front of him.
Thai names are a mouthful with four, five, six or more syllables making them a real mouthful for us
big noses.

Morning, hope your weekend was a good one. An Arsenal win always helps. A birthday also helps.
Helps you lie around all day Sunday going 'Bleurgh' after too much Havana Club the night before,
but I'm not complaining.
Mostly because today is Monday. Tomorrow night sees the second Champions League group stage game
with a home tie against Olymiacos.

The £5million signing of Arsenal's Paul Merson signalled this intent, but as transfer deadline
day approached promotion was anything but certain. Robson decided to dig in to the chairman's
pockets with a further four major signings: Paul Gascoigne, Marco Branca, Alun Armstrong and the
enigmatic Columbian Hamilton Ricard.

point and the team then went onto reach the semi-finals of the tournament that arguably saved
English football from itself and ultimately elevated it to today's dizzy heights.
