FCD's brand new signing from their Juniors program, Bryan Leyva, has been named to Mexico's side
for the U17 World Cup in Nigeria this October. Leyva has been a top tier prospect for years having
first trained with the Mexican senior side when he was 14.

Youth development is often considered at the level of the US Soccer federation, but what
progress has there been this year from MLS and its clubs?
It flew under the radar, but MLS' Board of Governors' decision in July to allow clubs to sign
two "homegrown" players from their academies who would not count against the 24-man roster limit
this year (though nor can they play in league matches) is starting to bear fruit (last year, a few
clubs faced dilemmas over whether to sign an Academy player who might not be able to contribute to
the first team, risking losing them abroad).

I guess once one club does it they all decide to take part in the fun that is signing home grown
talent. Just last week New York signed their first academy player and now FC Dallas is doing the
same. Today the club announced the signing of Bryan Leyva of the FC Dallas Juniors Program to a
Generation adidas contract.

FC Dallas has announced the signing of FCD Junior's player Bryan Leyva. Leyva is a highly regarded
midfielder who training with the Mexican National team at the age of 14 and is currently with the
Mexico U17s. Multiple foreign professional clubs have attempted to sign the player since then, but
none of the deals has worked out.
