Anderlecht opened the next chapter in their Europa League campaign at home with a convincing win
over of AEK Athens in Brussels.
So we play in Brussels against Anderlecht on thursday, our first game in the group stage of the
Europa League. A very important game ofcourse, and a chance for retribution after last years Euro
League games against the Belgians. But things don't look very good for us. We didn't get to play
one game in the Superleague, so we lack playing rythm.
As you can probably tell, I've been grabbing a semi-breather since returning from wacky Brussels
with a chest cold mandated by the Belgian FA repeatedly having us stand in the rain. It's better
now and I promise to stop slacking soon. At least, I made away with some of their finest sweets.
That shop is crazy, it's like browsing for nosh at a ritzy museum.
Sacha Kljestan will be playing at home in Brussels this weekend, while Tristan Bowen will hope to
make his Roeselare debut this weekend in Belgian action.
Jürgen Klinsmann's winless streak as USA Men's National Soccer team manager continued into his
third match in charge when his team feel 1-0 to Belgium in an international friendly in Brussels on
Tuesday. The loss follows a 1-1 tie with Mexico and a 1-0 loss to Costa Rica in the USA's previous
two matches under [.
Fact: Brussels is Europe's most boring city. I spent some time there back in my single days and the
only good things were A) seeing Darren Emerson DJ and B) making out with an English lady I had had
my eye on for a while. Other that that is was whack as hell.
Our Sacha and his Jamie Lee seem to be having a much better time of it though.

Different opponent, different location, same result.
Four days after losing 1-0 to Costa Rica in California, the U.S. men's national team fell to
Belgium by the same scoreline in Brussels on Tuesday afternoon. The hosts won the game through a
second-half goal from defender Nicolas Lombaerts.
The first game on European soil for new head coach Jurgen Klinsmann ended in a 1-0 defeat at the
hands of Belgium on a wet and soggy Tuesday evening in Brussels.
By J Hutcherson - WASHINGTON, DC (Sep 3, 2011) US Soccer Players -- The United States lost 1-0 to
Belgium in Brussels on Tuesday. Here are five things, a few game specific and a few general, to
consider as the National Team moves onto the October friendly window. The Goalkeeper Nothing buys a
team time to get other aspects of their game together like a goalkeeper stopping shots.
The United States historic difficulties winning in Europe continued on Tuesday, with a loss at
Brussels's King Baudouin Stadium. Nicolas Lombaerts scored the game's only goal in the 55th minute.
Both teams had would-be goals called off, with the United States thinking they had an 86th minute
equalizer only for the referee to decide otherwise.

difficulties.

Larentowicz and Dempsey with Revs teammates in 2006
Two former New England Revolution midfielders met up for the first time in nearly five years as
Clint Dempsey and Jeff Larentowicz are in camp together here in Brussels.
The two were teammates for two years in 2005 and 2006, Larentowicz signing up as a rookie in the
first year and Dempsey departing for Fulham following the second.
I've talked to Gertjan Verbeek. He can be an intense dude. And now he's mad at Klinsi for dragging
Jozy Altidore to L.A. and back. Of course, I questioned the logic of scheduling friendlies a half a
world and four days apart, but it seems a bit much for the respectable AZ coach to take to the
media mic in this manner.
Jurgen Klinsmann, still looking for his first victory as coach of the United States soccer squad,
wants to see more nastiness from the Americans as they prepare to visit Belgium on Tuesday.
Costa Rica upset the US team 1-0 on Friday at Los Angeles, denying the former German coach and
international playmaker his first victory since being named coach of the Americans on July 29.
Still looking for their first win under Coach Klinsmann the US Men's National Team will take on
Belgium Tuesday in Brussels. This will be the first games the American's will play away from home
since November of last year. Once again Klinsmann will have to work with an incomplete roster. Teal

Rica, the United States takes on up-and-coming Belgium on Tuesday in Jurgen Klinsmann's first test
on European soil as US National Team coach. Belgium - 37th in the FIFA World Rankings and 22nd
among European teams - has something to prove in front of a home crowd in Brussels.
The full roster of players has now arrived in Belgium. All 20 players trained this morning but not
before a late dash to the field by Kyle Beckerman! Kyle arrived on the overnight flight and went
straight from the airport to the training pitch. A set of gear was waiting for him, and once he dug
his boots out of his suitcase he was good to go.

The Jurgen Klinsmann era as USA national team head coach is getting off to a tough start with a
draw and lose at home to two of their biggest CONCACAF rivals.

A: A winner winner winner chicken dinner. Duh. I'm still hunting for the elusive clip, but Chris
Rolfe did in fact fire Aalborg up to second place with a 2-1 decider against Odense BK. The guy I
hope to see in Brussels next month capped off a counter attack 11 minutes from time to put his side
up two, rendering OB's late strike as mere consolation.

The United States Soccer Federation announced a September 2nd friendly against Costa Rica and
another four days later against Belgium. The USA will play Costa Rica at the Home Depot Center,
with the Belgium game scheduled for Brussels at King Baudouin Stadium. "The matches against Costa
Rica and Belgium represent another great opportunity to continue the building process as we move
towards the start of 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying," US coach Bob Bradley said.

off on September 6th in Brussels. This long-rumored friendly was confirmed by the USSF today as
well.

set for Sept. 6th in Brussels.
UPDATED- U.S. Soccer officials confirmed to Fox Soccer on Friday evening that the USA-Belgium
friendly will take place and an announcement will take place next week.
Going into the Turkish national team match against Belgium this past Friday, much of the
speculation was on how the Turks would do against Belgium. Turkey needed maximum points against the
Belgians in order to consolidate second position in Group A of the Euro 2012 qualifiers. With
Belgium to play three matches after their match against Turkey, and with Turkey having four matches
left after the match against Belgium, the Turks needed maximum points.
On June 2, 1985, UEFA took action against English clubs, banning them from European competition
after the riot at Brussels' Heysel stadium during the European Cup final between Liverpool and
Juventus in which 39 people died. The repercussions of the tragedy saw stringent changes in the way
hooligans were dealt with and formed the basis for a framework of measures to ensure nothing
similar would ever happen again.
Just to give you a sign that I'm alive I'm posting how our players performed at the weekend.
I've just returned from Easter holidays and I'll shortly leave for the May break. Therefore, I
don't have as much time as I'd like to. I promise to do better after I return from my May holidays
in Brussels (I've got the tickets for the Anderlecht game, yeah!
