Guess Who’s Back? Back Again…

Futbolita 16 November @ 09:04 PM EST

Bruno Alves may be Portugal's Man of the Moment, but our sad and forgotten hero is Greaseano. He returned to training with the Pellegrini Pack yesterday, after witnessing his national team's narrow 1-0 victory over Bosnia. No one came to ask him if he wanted M&Ms during half time, so do forgive his bitterness.

Click to continue reading...

Portugal 1 - 0 Bosnia Herzegovina: Skill & Determination

Euro 2008 on World Cup Blog 14 November @ 06:11 PM EST
We did it. First solid step towards South-Africa has just been taken. Bruno Alves scored and helped give us a momentous scare just before the final whistle as Bosnia hit the iron twice. Overall I think Bosnia showed very little of what it's capable of and we always looked a Click to continue reading...

Bruno Marioni dice adiós a las canchas

FutblogMexicano 12 November @ 01:36 AM EST

A Tale of Two Agents

There's no Arsenal news today. So this will be a very very short one and it's only a hint of Arsenal related stuff. A toast for my shortest ever posting.

Secret meditation room helping Chelsea players put mind over matter

bridge views 28 October @ 09:52 AM EST

In July I wrote a piece about Bruno Demichelis, a sports psychologist Ancelotti brought with him from Milan. Judging from his experience in setting up the venerated MilanLab, it seemed he had moved to London to help extend the careers of Chelsea's older players. The latest from Cobham suggests that he's turning to an unlikely source – meditation – to take the science much further.

Brasileiro: Palmeiras Has Company…

See The Cup 26 October @ 02:54 PM EST

.... Lots of it. After looking like the virtual champion of Campeonato Brasileiro, Palmeiras lost points and the chances of confirming the title. And with that, 4 clubs have now the chance of taking the title away from the side headed by Muricy Ramalho. In the 31st round of Brasileiro, Atletico-MG, Inter, Sao Paulo and Flamengo won their matches and are just a few step away from jumping to first (something that can happen in the next round).

Thanking your away support is forbidden

The above picture depicts what Reuters describes as a "sit-down protest" from Hamburg after stewards at Celtic Park would not let them celebrate their 1-0 win over the Scottish side with their traveling fans after the game. Tempers flared among the visiting team when stewards also wouldn't let them leave the pitch, causing some angry players to sit down near the corner flag as police moved in.

THIS IS LIKE 2003 ALL OVER AGAIN

Friends of Liverpool FC 17 October @ 07:03 PM EST
Oh God! I am beginning to get a sense of history repeating itself at Anfield.
Remember back in 2002 when we finished in the League to Arsenal, they finished on 87 points while we gained 80 points well ahead of the chasing pack, but no title.
We were all expecting the team that time to push on the next season and win the League, having come so close but it didn't happen. Click to continue reading...

Brasileiro: The Tournament No One Wants to Win

See The Cup 13 October @ 03:06 AM EST

After the 29th round of Brasileiro, it seems no one wants to take the title home. Like in the last round, when only one club on the top won, the leaders collectively failed again. Palmeiras, Sao Paulo and Atletico-MG lost. Inter and Goias tied at home. And, in this way, Flamengo, the 6th side on the table, was the first team on the top to win.

A Win is a Win

The Offside: Valencia 05 October @ 08:39 AM EST

Ok i dont think anybody will disagree with me when i say that yesterdays match was far from pretty.

Our midfield was not fluid.

Our attack was lackluster.

Our wings fairly ineffective.

Our defense and goal tending however was vastly improved.

While i will say that Bruno is no substitute for Miguel on most days, he was sufficient on sunday.

Dramatic Video: Nautico 1 – 2 Sao Paulo

See The Cup 01 October @ 01:28 AM EST

It was one of the most dramatic victories of this year's Brasileirao. Sao Paulo had all the reasons to see its visit to Nautico end up in a sound defeat.

1)Sao Paulo did not have keeper Rogerio Ceni and two of its main forwards;
2)Nautico had a penalty with just 4 minutes into the match;
3)Sao Paulo had 2 players ejected one in each half;
4)Nautico scored (through Bruno Mineiro) a goal early in the match.
