Joining KYW's Greg Orlandini and PSP's Eli Pearlman-Storch on the latest edition of the Philly
Soccer Show podcast is Philadelphia Union first round draft pick Chandler Hoffman.
The UCLA/Generation adidas forward scored 18 goals in 24 games during his last season with the
Bruins, and hopes to bring that scoring touch to PPL Park.
On Saturday night, Kelyn Rowe put on his cheerleading hat as he watched the UCLA Women's Volleyball
Team compete for the NCAA Championship against Illinois. OK, it wasn't actually a hat, but he was
following the entire game, even during his interview with Zarek Valentin for an upcoming podcast.
(Zarek gave his blessing, and even asked a couple questions .

These days, Kelyn Rowe and Enzo Martinez have a great deal in common.
Both are playmakers for their teams with field vision that has pro scouts raving, and both are
candidates for Generation adidas deals following this NCAA season.
For our second player profile we look to the midfield, a certain trouble spot for New England in
recent years. After catching a little of the College Cup this past weekend, I've got a new midfield
crush. We head out west, to perennial powerhouse UCLA, and take a look at their dynamic midfielder,
Kelyn Rowe, recently named Pac-12 Player of the Year!
Craque! Kelyn Rowe in full gallop with head up. The Bruin #10 looking to lead UCLA back to
College Cup.
Westwood, CA Made another trip to Westwood to catch the NCAA 3rd round matchup between UCLA
and Rutgers. Gary decided to tag along since watching UCLA meant seeing Kelyn Rowe parade his
quality all over the field.

It's the kind of stuff Hollywood was built on.
Last season, a staggering nine goals were produced in a snowy quarterfinal clash between
then-No. 1 Louisville and No. 8 UCLA, as the Cardinals squeaked out a 5-4 victory on their way to a
runner-up finish.

LOS ANGELES -- Chandler Hoffman can't stop scoring and thanks to the junior forward's incredible
run of form, UCLA sits just one win away from the College Cup.
Hoffman tallied two goals, making his total 18 on the year, as UCLA defeated Rutgers, 3-0, at
Drake Stadium in the NCAA Round of 16 on Sunday night.
*Today's 64-team NCAA Tournament draw has immediately thrown up a Southern California coastal
clash: Long Beach State against Pepperdine at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Malibu.
Long Beach qualified for the tournament for the third time in four years after beating
24th-ranked UC Irvine Sunday and winning the Big West.

There's still a week to go until the brackets for the 2011 NCAA Tournament are revealed but
several teams have already seen their postseason hopes extinguished.

Westwood, CA The clash to determine who will enter the second half of the league season with
momentum and a clear path to the Pac 12 title took place Sunday evening at UCLA's Drake

Editor's note: While this game occurred last week, we still find it worthwhile to publish.
If anything to continue demonstrating what form a simple match breakdown/recap could take, what
things to look for in a game, give praise or criticism to the coaches and players involved, and

Conference battles begin to heat up but a looming West Coast match may prove to be the biggest
game in college soccer this weekend.
Below are some of the bigger games this weekend that I'll be keeping an eye on.

UCLA midfielder Kelyn Rowe knows a thing or two about trying to live up to high expections.
Rowe, who will have no shortage of professional options after his sophomore season with the
Bruins, starred for the United States Under-20 national team during its failed attempt to qualify
for the Under-20 World Cup, scoring three goals and one assist in leading the U.
In a word: disappointing. Considering I ditched the majority of my friends back in Boston and
trekked down to Foxboro, through commuter traffic and all, to see the Revs play out to a 0-0 draw
against Toronto while the Bruins were off winning the Stanley Cup, I was quite disheartened last
night.
They must be so bummed he missed the Revs' match
IN THE TUNNEL:
With Boston area fans geared up to watch their Bruins in the Stanley Cup Final, this may be one of
the lowest attended MLS matches of the season. Although... how will you tell? Gillette Stadium
usually looks that empty.
Vancouver has plenty to cheer about as the Canucks could beat the Bruins this Wednesday to take
the Stanley Cup. And Eric Hassli gave the city's soccer fans a delicious treat over the weekend
scoring without doubt MLS's goal of the year. The stunned look of disbelief sweeping across Qwest
Field says it all.
There's nothing like a USA National Team loss to get the fingers on the keys.
Sure, there are parallels to the New England Revolution's loss last night, with both teams
frustratingly not turning it on until it was too late. However, the emotion surrounding the two,
for me at least, isn't the same.
I have to get this off my chest: on my DVR sits the New England Revolution game versus FC Dallas
from this Saturday night, and I have no plans to watch it. Ever.
On Soccer Soap Box, I don't attempt to capture news before other blogs. I don't analyze every
game and every touch. If you are looking for a scoop or play by play coverage, you are unlikely
to get it here.
Both regional quarterfinal games will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, the same time as the
Champions League Final. For those of you who will be watching the international match, please
refrain from tweeting or posting status updates on Facebook about your glee or the the games
progression. Allow those of us who are supporting the local game to catch the game on a delayed
basis without spoiling it!

The LA Galaxy defeated UCLA, 2-1 in their final preseason warm-up before the start of the
season.
Landon Donovan and Juninho provided the goals for the Galaxy while Victor Chavez scored for the
Bruins. Los Angeles dominated the early part of the match when Juninho cracked the UCLA defense
with a goal through a number of UCLA defenders.
