Men have outside shot at division crown
Plainview, NY (July 17, 2009) – The Long Island Rough Riders men's and women's team will take to
the road on Sunday and play their final matches of the regular season. The women will end their
season with a visit to the Washington Freedom, while the men travel to New Hampshire before hosting
a PDL first-round playoff game sometime next week.

Official Press Release (Long Island Rough Riders)
South Huntington, N.Y. (July 8, 2009) – The Long Island Rough Riders men's team defeated the
Brooklyn Knights 1-0, clinching a playoff berth for the first time since 2003. In the opening game
of the doubleheader, the Rough Riders women's team fell to Hudson Valley 4-2.

Luis Robles, a strong candidate to make the US World Cup Team in 2010 played two
seasons in the PDL
Last week we discussed on this site that two of the key players in the (arguably) USMNT's most
remarkable run Jay DeMerit and Charlie Davies had played in USL as well as College Soccer but had
not played in MLS.

Actually, no Rafinha can't fly and he isn't levitating in this picture. He just has been very busy
playing soccer locally and has just completed a free kick in this picture. Things are going very
well for him. Besides his opportunity to train with the Newark Ironbound Express, he also has
tryouts scheduled with the Long Island Rough Riders and Brooklyn Knights as well as some
opportunities back in Brazil including the possibility of a tryout with Flamengo!
