Here's a bizarre one: before 'investigative reporter' Glenn Mulcaire decided to find out what was
going on in the celebrity world by listening to their voicemail messages, he was a tidy non-league
footballer.
The man they call 'Trigger' retains a special place in the hearts of all AFC Wimbledon fans as,
astonishingly, he scored the club's first ever goal, against Bromley, back in 2002.
It's time for a bit of a non-league round-up (as is our wont at this time of the week), with
highlights of three matches from the last couple of weekend's worth of matches. First up, we're
taking the opportunity to catch up with one of the matches from the weekend of the 15th of January,
with the FA Trophy Second Round match between Blyth Spartans.

Palace's plans are for a 25,000-seat stadium, which could be expanded to a capacity of 40,000, and
includes provision for an indoor aquatics and sports complex as well as a community sports facility
on the present Crystal Palace National Sports Centre site in Bromley.
Eddie Johnson started and played 54 minutes in Preston North End's 1-1 draw
with QPR on Saturday. He registered one shot on goal. Last Tuesday he started and played 64 minutes
in the Lilywhites' 2-2 draw at Watford.
Bjorn Helge Riise started and played 90 minutes in Sheffield United's 1-0 loss
at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
(Unless stated otherwise, all games occurred on Saturday)
We have another loaner to join the merry ranks! Blue-chip teenager Lauri Dalla
Valle joined League One side Bournemouth last week on a one-month loan. He came off the
bench in the 70th minute and scored a goal on his debut, 10 minutes in.
There are just four weeks left to go of the season in the Blue Square South, one of the two
feeder leagues to the Blue Square Premier, and there is still all to play for at the top of the
table. This week's Non-League Videos Of The Week features six of the top eight in the league, and
with the battle for the title and for the four play-off places still wide open, there is still all
to play for.

The Easter weekend is traditionally the weekend during which most non-league promotion and
relegation issues are sorted out one way or the other and, with a round of fixtures to be played
this afternoon, we're going to take a moment to catch up with some of Saturday's matches. Our first
match comes from the foot of the Blue Square South.
There is a lot of money flying about in the Blue Square South this season as the teams jostle to
fill the void at the top left by Braintree Town and Ebbsfleet United. The gap between those with a
decent budget and those without seems to be growing a bit more in the southern half of Step 2 than
in the northern half.
It doesn't take much to bring out the obsessive in many men of any age, and this is something
that advertisers and hawkers have been aware of for a long time and acting upon this sort of
impulse with greater and greater sophistication in recent years. Football supporters, of course,
can be amongst the worst for obsessive behaviour, and one of the more obvious manifestations of
this comes in the form of football programmes.
Some people out there make me laugh harder than when I'm watching Harry Redknapp having a twitching
fit when S*urs are losing.
Many said Arsene Wenger needed to add to the squad and 'spend some fucking money' or Arsenal would
free fall into the Orpington and Bromley Division 5 Sunday league in no time.
There was a full round of matches in all three divisions the Football Conference this week, and
it looks like being a very tight season in the Conference South. Today, there are just ten points
between the team at the top of the table and the team in fourteenth place, and there seems little
between the top three sides, with others lower down the table looking more than capable of joining
them.

This weekend's non-league videos of the week come from the Blue Square Premier and the Second
Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. In the Blue Square Premier, AFC Telford United have reacted
positively to their promotion from the Blue Square North at the end of last season and sit in
mid-table in the division at present and they were at home against Hayes & Yeading United, who were
the beneficiaries of Kettering Town's generosity and subsequent implosion on Tuesday night.

The football clubs of the Premier League and the Championship had a break for another round of
international matches this weekend, but there were few such luxuries for the butchers, bakers and
candlestick makers of non-league football with a round of fixtures which included the Preliminary
Round of another competition which has suffered a little damage to its reputation in recent years,
the FA Trophy.

This weekend, the FA Cup reached its final qualifying round and the introduction of the clubs of
the Blue Square Premier adds a little extra spice to the competition as well. Everybody that took
to the pitch in this competition at the weekend went into their match knowing that a live
appearance on ITV and a sizeable pay day could well be on the cards if they could just get over
this hurdle, and this evening we have four matches from this round of the competition.

QR ya? Players from non-league Bromley are getting some interesting new haircuts ahead of their FA
Cup tie against Leyton Orient on Saturday. Online betting site Betfair are sponsoring their players
to have QR codes shaved into their hair! Midfielder Danny Waldren was the first player to entrust
his barnet to Wayne Rooney's hairdresser for [.
