Bayer Leverkusen defender Michal Kadlec earned a broken nose and a trip to hospital last weekend
following a fight with two rowdy FC Koln fans in a Cologne nightclub.
In spite of his painful injury, the 27-year-old Czech is keen to play in this weekend's match
with Hannover, and this will probably be possible after getting fitted for a natty new mask.
The New England Revolution is back on the West Coast tonight, this time making the long trek to
Carson, California to take on the LA Galaxy. The Revs should be full of confidence and vigor after
putting away Portland 1-0 in last week's home opener, while the Galaxy are probably feeling rested
and refreshed after having last weekend off.
It's the calm before the storm, people; the New England Revolution are in California, preparing
to take on the defending MLS Champs, the LA Galaxy, tomorrow night at 11 PM EST on national TV.
That's right - your Revs are going to be on the NBC Sports Network for the first time. I find that
to be incredibly exciting - not only do we get to hear the magical voice of Arlo White announcing
the play-by-play, but the greatest production value in soccer broadcasts in America will be showing
it.
The Dynamo open their 2012 campaign where is ended in November. It won't be the Galaxy hosting
though, instead Dominic Kinnear will look to win a season opener for the first time since 2006
against Chivas USA.
This is the only meeting in the league between the Dynamo and Chivas USA in 2011.
The first half produced little except for an Arjen Robben effort shut down by Joe Hart and Adam
Johnson's slanted drive that missed goal. Stevie Gerrard had to exit with a hamstring pull with
Daniel Sturridge replacing him. There was little inkling to what lay in store in the second
half.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar clashed heads with Chris Smalling as he scored the second goal in the
Netherlands' 3-2 win over England at Wembley. Huntelaar entered the match at halftime for Robin van
Persie and scored 13 minutes later. But the collision left him with a concussion, a broken nose,
missing teeth and a mouthful of grass while Smalling was bleeding from the head.
Kobe Bryant probably wishes he would have skipped the 2012 NBA All-Star Game now. Not only did
Dwyane Wade break his nose, the impact of Wade's hard foul caused a concussion. Now Kobe's status
going forward is unknown.
Getting diagnosed with a concussion is now a big deal in the NBA. To get cleared for action
again, Kobe is going to have to convince an independent doctor that he's free from all concussion
symptoms.

From attempting to leave the gas station while the car is still being filled to an ice skating
mission on a frozen but ultimately not frozen enough pond, we're heavy contributors to the
pantheon of dumb.
Kobe Bryant had a busy night yesterday. Not only did he break Michael Jordan's All-Star game
scoring record, he helped lead the Western Conference to a 152-149 victory over the Eastern
Conference. And on top of that, he suffered a broken nose.

Sebastian Lletget is healthy enough to join the U.S. Under-23 national team after all.
Lletget was called into U-23 camp by coach Caleb Porter after initially being left off the
roster, which was released last week. Sources had told SBI that Lletget was recovering from a
broken nose and a concussion, with the latter keeping him out of action.
Steven Taylor was in the best form of his career earlier in the season, when he formed a
tremendous partnership with Fab Coloccini at the back for Newcastle. Steven Taylor a broken nose
didn't stop this local lad from playing And it was Steven's excellent form that allowed Newcastle
to go the first 11 games unbeaten, and only concede 8 goals during that time.
The transfer rumours involving Spurs are very slowly starting to spark into life with stories
that Roman Pavlyuchenko could be the first and possibly only departure from White Hart Lane this
summer.
Yesterday, Pav's vocal agent Oleg Artemov claimed that Spurs had extended the Russian's contract
until June 2013.
Thee Balotelli stamp seems to be making its way round the internet quite soundly right now, but
there was a far more vicious boot to the head in Europe this weekend which probably won't see any
pop remixes anytime soon. Dorge Kouemaha of Kaiserslautern went to clear a ball out of the box and
instead found his boot flush with the face of Sebastian Prodl.

Petr Cech may wear his usual headgear AND a specially-designed mask to protect his broken nose
in the Czech Republic's Euro 2012 play-off tonight. When asked if wearing both would affect his
vision, the Chelsea keeper replied: "Who said that?
Sadly, this isn't makeup it's Klaas' broken nose. Tragically, it happened on November 3rd, days
late for Halloween and the most frightening natural makeup this side of Tevez's goal
celebrations.
Of course he also has a custom mask which looks to be made of leather with a snoutish nose and
is emblazoned with Hunter across the forehead, making this easily the best accidental
after-the-fact Halloween ensemble in the history of goal poachers for the Dutch national team who
also once played for De Graafschap.
Disney is not going to do a cartoon remake of the Russian Premier League anytime soon. That may
be an exercise in acknowledging the obvious, but it remains true the RPL isn't for the kiddies.
Roberto Carlos might have a few words of commentary in that realm.
And yet, it can still manage to surprise with some off-pitch shenanigans, like this weekend,
when one player who'd just been sent off in a reserve game was beaten in the tunnel by men "dressed
as" police officers.
Ouch! The sight of blood pouring everywhere over Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet showed that
his broken nose was a serious injury. After all, it had been caused by Emile Heskey in Saturday's
Premier League draw. But there have been plenty of bizarre breaks and injuries too... here are our
top five.
Alan Pardew is under no illusions that tonight's game at Stoke will be a difficult one for his
Newcastle side. Danny Guthrie likely to get start again tonight We know that Steven Taylor will be
returning to the side to play in his new mask to protect his broken nose, but central midfield

There's been very little real news on Steven Taylor's broken nose, and whether he will be able to

With Steven Taylor having broken his nose in Saturday's game, Newcastle's streak of five games in
the Premier League with an unchanged side may be broken next Monday night at Stoke City. Steven
Taylor - getting treatment for broken nose on Saturday It's a strange situation this season
because Newcastle now have a very strong squad but [.
Newcastle United have two injuries to contend with a minor one for Steven Taylor and a more
significant one for Shola Ameobi. Alan Pardew is considering playing Steven Taylor with a broken
nose on Wednesday, by which I mean Steven Taylor has the broken nose rather than Alan Pardew. At
least I don't think [.

The former Leicester City hardman has managed to keep himself in the public eye courtesy of some
ropey punditry and a spell on the Beeb's Strictly Come Dancing show.
However, on Strictly at the weekend, the blonde media node made a right eejit of himself (again)
when a naff kissing of the camera move earned him a broken nose.
Steven Taylor suffered a broken nose in the second half today. Steven Taylor broke his nose today
The nose wouldn't stop bleeding and Steven had to leave the filed as few times with blood on his

Besiktas willbe looking for revenge in Kiev on Thursday's Europa League Group E clash against
Dynamo Kiev.
Besiktas met Dynamo Kiev in the last 32 of last season's competition, and found themselves
comprehensively beaten as they suffered an 8-1 aggregate defeat.
Besiktas currently sit above Dynamo in the standings after beating Maccabi Tel Aviv but suffering a
defeat against Stoke.
If there's one thing every national team should learn from Brasil... it's precisely
THIS! The sense of camaraderie and loucura
during training,
except they'll need to work harder during the match itself. Não se preocupe, there's a
chance to do that against Mexico tonight!

World Cup in action between the Western New York Flash and magicJack.

Matchday #2 for Group A at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup began with a match between two teams
aspiring to advance out of the most difficult draw in the tournament. Canada needed at least a draw
from this match after a 2-1 loss to Germany. Instead, France dominated Big Red in a 4-0 triumph,
and ensured their berth in the quarterfinals, coupled with Germany's subsequent victory.
I know that it is too much to ask for a team to win every game, but is it too much to ask for
the team to play smart and with heart? As a dedicated fan I want my team, including the coach, to
come into each game and play to the best of their ability. And this is where the Wizards have let
me down.
The New York Red Bulls got their first win since the opening week of the season while Charlie
Davies continued his remarkable goalscoring recovery for D.C. United.

Luke Rodgers scored the first two goals of his MLS career and added an assist to lead the Red Bulls
to a victory over the Earthquakes.
Marcin Gortat suffered a broken nose against the New Orleans Hornets this weekend in a freak
accident on the court. As you can see in the Marcin Gortat video below, the Polish center for the
Phoenix Suns ran into the back of Steve Nash's head. After running into Nash, he fell to the ground
and had blood pouring all over the ground.
