Skip back to Friday afternoon and Reading kept their timely streak going, beating Leeds 2-0 to
temporarily yomp to the top of the Championship thanks to Adam Le Fondre's late double.
As expected, there were a few choice tackles over the course of the game (Leeds' Zac Thompson
was sent-off after 13 minutes) with Reading's Jem Karacan finding himself on the receiving end of
several 'robust' tackles before Michael Brown's flying gooch-first lunge finally caused the
Turkish-ish midfielder to limp off with the 23-year old eventually leaving the Madjeski on
crutches.
David Ferreira's 2012 comeback season has yet to materialize, as the 2010 MLS MVP's return to
the field has suffered yet another setback.
Ferreira will miss the next 6-to-8 weeks after suffering a small fracture in his right foot, FC
Dallas announced on Tuesday. The procedure will be performed today by the same doctor who operated
on Ferreira's broken ankle, which he suffered last April.
The Milwaukee Bucks were missing two of their better players on Saturday when hosting the Los
Angeles Lakers. Despite being shorthanded, the Bucks handed the Lakers another road loss by a final
score of 100-89.
Andrew Bogut will miss up to the next three months with a broken ankle. Stephen Jackson was
suspended due to a confrontation with a ref.
People don't like Kenny Cooper. He is probably used to it by now. They didn't always like him in
Dallas where he racked up forty goals in ninety games. They didn't always like him in England or
Germany where he he was busy with a broken ankle. They didn't always like him here in Portland
where he was the Timbers leading scorer.
The Los Angeles Galaxy take on Real Salt Lake tonight in a match-up of Western Conference
powers, and a game that could draw the Galaxy to the verge of the MLS Supporters Shield.
Real Salt Lake will try to spoil the Galaxy's party, while also snapping their own two-match
losing skid.

Donning a substitute's bib, Javier Morales went through the motions. Medically cleared to return
to action for the first time in months, Morales paced up and down the sidelines at RFK Stadium,
staying warm in case he was called upon to try and light a spark under Real Salt Lake.

Few teams in Major League Soccer are as in-form as Real Salt Lake, which is on a four-game
winning streak and is within striking distance of catching the Los Angeles Galaxy and capturing the
Supporters' Shield. The club is also on the verge of getting its playmaker back.

Good afternoon! Another blistering hot day here in Red Bulls Land and our team is back in action
@The Cathedral of Football (6:00pm ET, MSG, Galavision). The opponent today (FC Dallas) is no
stranger to weather like this and should feel right at home.
When the New England Revolution head to Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas on Saturday, the
temperatures in the mid-90s might not be the hottest obstacle the struggling team has to overcome.
2010 MLS Cup finalists FC Dallas has turned its season around after a rocky start and at 5-0-3 in
its last eight games is one of the most in-form teams in the league.
When reigning MLS MVP David Ferreira went down with a broken ankle, 2010 Western Conference
champion FC Dallas figured to struggle while finding a way to replace the catalyst for the team's
attack.
Instead, the Red Stripes found their groove.
FC Dallas went 4-0-3 in the month of May to easily capture SBI's Team of the Month honors.
The Welsh captain Aaron Ramsey is already like a new signing for Arsenal after missing most of last

Chivas USA is preparing for life without Marcos Mondaini.
Mondani was suspended on Thursday for four matches, plus an additional $1,500 fine for a tackle
on Javier Morales that resulted in a broken ankle for the RSL playmaker.
Week Seven of the MLS Season won't go down as one of the prettier weeks the league has ever
endured, but it had its share of memorable moments.
The New York-LA Galaxy match was entertaining, Charlie Davies put on another show at mid-week,
and the Joao Plata coming out party for Toronto FC was promising, but three scoreless draws and
Javier Morales' broken ankle put a damper on things.
This week, Amanda and Shana are joined by Dan of The Free Beer Movement in the first segment,
to discuss soccer culture, the games that made us fans, and spreading the soccer love through
intoxicating beverages (in moderation, of course). They review "Soccer Night in America," RSL v.
Chivas and yet another broken ankle, and LA v.
Real Salt Lake may have lost its playmaker, but it still has its spot atop the SBI MLS Power
Rankings.
Despite having Javier Morales exit its match with a broken ankle, Salt Lake powered through to a
victory over nine-man Chivas USA to improve to 5-1 on the season. That victory, coupled with the
New York-Los Angeles stalemate left the top three spots unchanged.
So the season MLS wanted to stop thuggish play has become the season where talented players get
their legs and ankles broken. Last night Javier Morales of Fake Salt Lake joined Dallas's David
Ferreira and our own Steve Zakuani on the inactive-for-months list with a broken ankle. The
challenge on Morales was cynically issued by a well-beaten Marcos Mondaini, who showed zero
interest in going after the ball.
Salt Lake 1 – Chivas USA 0 Real Salt Lake returned to form at Rio Tinto, beating Chivas USA on an
87th minute Will Johnson goal. The three points keeps their MLS home winning streak going at 28
games. It wasn't all good news. RSL became the latest MLS club to lose a marquee player to injury.
Javier Morales suffered a broken ankle, the result of a Marcos Mondaini tackle in the 37th minute.

Salem coach Jason Byzewski never wanted to unleash Kharlton Belmar on opponents this way.
But when central midfielder Bryan Causey went down in the preseason with a broken ankle, Salem's
dreams of playing with style faded, and its best bet became getting the ball to Belmar as quickly
as possible.
The Los Angeles Galaxy head into Sunday on a major roll, with Landon Donovan back in form and
the club rebounding well from the loss of defender Leonardo, but a road trip to Frisco, Texas
awaits against a dangerous FC Dallas side (7pm, Telefutura).
Dallas begins life without David Ferreira, who is out with a broken ankle.
The Sunday afternoon clash between the Los Angeles Galaxy and FC Dallas (4 pm FSW and
Galavision) should, on paper, be a wide-open affair. A young team filled with speedsters playing in
a warm-weather city versus a more mixed team of savvy veterans and young developing talent with a
proven set of attackers should provide for many gol-scoring chances and back and forth action.
A look at this weekend's Major League Soccer action
LA Galaxy 3 Portland Timbers 0
Landon Donovan scored his first two goals of the season and added an assist to help the Los Angeles
Galaxy beat the Portland Timbers 3-0.
Donovan had missed the last three games due to a of a knee injury and it did not take him long
to show everyone that he was fully fit as the Galaxy scored twice in the first 8 minutes.
1. We would have taken any three points today. To get them on the back of a good performance and
well worked goal is very nice. Everton were resilient and it was becoming a worry whether we'd be
able to break them down, but we kept our nerve, passed the ball around well and were patient.
2. Chicharito, I love you.
Just a day after Seattle Sounders star Steve Zakuani was lost for the season with a broken leg,
reigning MLS MVP David Ferreira joined the list of severely injured stars, suffering a broken ankle
in FC Dallas' 2-1 win vs. Vancouver on Saturday.
Ferreira suffered the broken ankle on a challenge from Vancouver defender Jonathan Leathers.
The gift of the gab goes a long way Stephen Ireland's first appearance in the famous black and
white stripes may be in doubt after his girlfriend, Jessica Lawlor, suffered a broken ankle and
internal bleeding after a car accident last weekend. She had been travelling home from a night out
with a friend when [.

United have been boosted by Antonio Valencia's return to training only five months after he
suffered a horrific broken ankle in a Champions League draw with Rangers - although fellow winger
Park Ji-sung was ruled out for a month with a hamstring problem.
The Portland Timbers bolstered their attack at last week's MLS Draft with the selection of Akron
striker Darlington Nagbe, and now the Timbers have officially added an ideal partner for Nagbe in
former U.S. national team striker Kenny Cooper.
Portland announced the acquisition of Cooper on Monday, pending receipt of his international
transfer certificate.

With January here, the winter transfer season is upon us and while the moves of big European
stars will rule the headlines, there are a bunch of American players in dire need of loans or
transfers this month.
You know it's not an ideal trend.
