The Guatemala - USA World Cup Qualifier on June 12th will only be available on pay-per-view in the
United States. The US Soccer Federation has released a FAQ on the issues surrounding televising an
away Qualifier. Under CONCACAF rules, the home team controls the broadcast rights for World Cup
Qualifiers.
U.S. men's national team fans will be able to watch next month's World Cup qualifier against
Guatemala, but they'll have to fork over a decent chunk of change to do so.
According to the New York Times, the match will be only accessible on television in the United
States on pay-per view only for $29.
Google and Apple may not exactly be the first names that spring to mind when looking for
alternatives to challenge Sky's dominance of sports broadcasting in Britain, but it should be no
surprise that two of the giants of the tech and online world are eyeing up sport as a way to lure
consumers into their new offerings.

The Los Angeles Galaxy are turning their success on the playing field to success in the board
room with a new local television deal.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the Galaxy signed a television deal with Time
Warner Cable valued at 55 million over 10 years.
Need further proof that soccer is here to stay in America? Time Warner Cable is going to pay the
LA Galaxy a whooping $55 million over the next 10 years for their broadcast rights. Yeah, that's a
whole lotta lettuce. Sure no other MLS team can command that kind of deal but you gotta believe
that this kind of thing will only continue to get better for other teams in their markets.
Maybe it's just happening when I'm watching, but based on my (unscientific observations) it
seems that NBC has made an attempt to devote a little more time to coverage of the 2011 MLS Cup,
which takes place at 8:00 pm central time on Sunday. In light of the news that NBC Universal has
obtained a broadcast rights package for MLS matches starting with the 2012 season, it isn't
surprising that NBC stations and programs have given airtime to the 2011 MLS Cup.
This week Zach is joined by Dave Clark (Sounder at Heart) to discuss our trepidation about FOX
winning the American broadcast rights for the next two World Cup cycles, beginning with the 2015
Women's World Cup. We also react to David Downs' comments about the WPS and women's soccer along
with discussing MLS' congested playoff schedule , something Dave is fine with and Ginge isn't
thrilled about.
When the 2018 and 2022 World Cups kick off in Russia and Qatar, there is a very good chance that
you'll be watching those tournaments on a FOX network.
FOX beat out both ESPN and NBC for the U.S. broadcast rights to the 2018 and 2022 World Cups,
multiple reports revealed on Friday morning.
Spanish media production company Mediapro has extended for another year its broadcast rights deal

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre believes the option for Premier League clubs to sell their
overseas television rights on an individual basis would be a 'game-changer'.
The league's broadcast rights outside of the United Kingdom are presently sold in a joint package,
which is worth £3.2billion for 2010-13 to be shared equally among the 20 clubs.

Officials don't know how the new domestic football league will be run, when it will kick off or
even which teams will be in it. But one thing is certain — for the first time in history,
Indonesian league matches will be broadcast overseas.
Liga Prima Indonesia, the country's professional league administrator, signed a broadcast deal on

Earlier this week I received my review copy of Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of
ESPN, so the first thing I did was jump to the index to find any sections that deal with soccer.
Based on the directions that the index sent me in, and I should note the index seems a bit poor,
the book only focuses on soccer in the context of the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, which
isn't a bad thing, but it seems to leave out the World Wide Leader's dabbling with the Beautiful
Game during the bulk of its 31 years.

The Red Bulls and MSG Networks agreed to a multi-year deal that will ensure that all

Hodgson, 63, takes over a West Brom club that has plummeted in the Premier League table after a
promising start and now sits 17th, kept out of the relegation zone by goal difference alone.
