This weekend was a memorable one for Americans Abroad as two recent MLS transfers made their
European club debuts, while a few other Americans found the net.
Maurice Edu (pictured) made his debut for Glasgow Rangers on Saturday in a 2-1 win over
Kilmarnock while U.S. Olympic teammate Jozy Altidore impressed in his La Liga debut for
Villarreal.
It's frustrating being a Liverpool supporter right now. In the lull ahead of watching Torres win
the golden boot at Euro 2008, fans are craving for world class additions to the squad. But forget
about high-flying Italian defenders, slinky Spanish left-backs or even a possible move for Gabriel
Heinze, Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is reportedly [.
Some rumors out right now about a couple former Wizards finding new teams to play with.
The first is a player who was only recently waived by the team, Carlos Marinelli. Marinelli who
didn't appear with the team at all after a confrontation at practice with Coach Onalfo is now
rumored to be heading back to England, where he'd once played with Middlesbrough.
Upsets left right and centre in today's FA Cup action. But what was the biggest shock?Coventry
somehow managed to obliterate Blackburn 4-1, whilst League One Huddersfield beat Birmingham 2-1.
Special mention should also go to Sheffield United who booted out Bolton with a 1-0 win lowly and
injury ravaged Oldham, who beat Everton 1-0 at [.

is now closed for the next four months. The option of signing players on loan remains (although the
rumoured Frazier-Campbell from Manchester United went out the window, with his last minute signing
for Spurs.

What a shame it was to see Derby County concede six at home to Aston Villa over the weekend. I'm
sure Villa fans and probably all of Derby's local rivals will have enjoyed the humiliation but no
neutral football fans can enjoy watching a team so desperately out of their depth. I watched my
beloved Watford [.
Two Australians faced off in the world's most lucrative football game, a game worth a mind boggling
£60 million for the victors. In the end, it was Richard Garcia's Hull City that prevailed
after a wonder-strike by wily veteran Dean Windass. The First Half The first chance for Nick Carle
came around the 17th minute when he [.

After Dimitar Berbatov's strange menage-a-trois dalliance with Mark Hughes and Sir Alex Ferguson,
and Man City gazumping Chelsea, yesterday's third oddest deadline day transfer was that of John
Akinde from Ebbsfleet United to Bristol City for £150,000 plus add-ons. The transfer wasn't
bizarre because of the player - Akinde has long attracted interest from league clubs [.
It was a pulsating game as Nick Carle's Bristol City took a big step towards Wembley and the
world's most financially rewarding football game. I have only watched a few Championship games in
the last twelve months but this game provided a glowing presentation of the quality of football
that the Championship can produce, despite [.

Speaking at the UK Union, Unison Conference
Guest speakers - Leroy Rosenior
Leroy Rosenior started his football career at Fulham in 1980, where he quickly became aware of
racism on and off the pitch. In fact, he puts most of the low points in his career down to racial
discrimination in one form or another.
A last minute offer put forward by Scunthorpe has secured the services of Southend striker Gary
Hooper.
As reported on longpier on Wednesday night, Cheltenham were set to win the race to
sign the forward for £140,000. But with Hooper travelling to Gloucestershire to sign the deal,
Scunthorpe usurped the Whaddon Road outfit and bid £175,000.

Matt Smith takes a closer look at this years runners and riders in the Coca-Cola Championship.
THE MAIN CONTENDERSStood on a golf course, in the middle of the short summer

it would be a total lottery again this season.

If you're still opposed to a playoff format at the end of the season, you're crazy. It doesn't have
to be one that determines the champion, it can be one that determines the UEFA Cup places or
Champions League places. After watching Bristol City book a date at Wembley in 12 days' time after
beating Crystal Palace 2-1 today and 4-2 on aggregate in the Championship playoff semifinals, I'm
more convinced than ever that some postseason system should be in place.
Hull moved into the final of the Play-Offs after a 6 vs 1 against Watford. Aided admittedly by
the referee in the first leg, Hull showed they deserved the spot after they came from a goal down
in the home leg to win 4 vs 1 and book their date with Bristol City who won 2 [...]

QPR have turned their attention to Manchester City hotshot Ched Evans after failing to
persuade Bobby Zamora to drop down to the Championship.
Bristol City have confirmed that they have doubled their money after letting their Australian
midfielder join Championship rivals Crystal Palace. Nick Carle, who was part of the side that
knocked Palace out of the Championship playoffs last season, has signed a four-year deal at Selhurt
Park for an undisclosed fee, thought to be in the region [.
FourFourTwo are reporting Nicky Carle is being transferred to Crystal Palace for $2 million.
But are the Jets getting a cut?
Nicky will get 10%. That's a cool $200,000 as he didn't ask for a transfer, but what aobut the Jets
did they have a sell-on clause.
Say 25%.
Carle earned the club $600,000 when he was transferred to Turkey.

19:30 Bayern Munich v Hamburger SV, Bundesliga, Setanta Sports 1
If Bild were English they'd no doubt have used the headline "HAMBURGLED" after Real
Madrid made their last minute raid on Hamburg's Rafael van der Vaart. Nevertheless, despite the
Dutchman's absence this is a cracking game to kick-off the Bundesliga season and Klinsie's reign at
Bayern.

in Tuesday's Reserve fixture against Charlton Athletic at Loftus Road.
The Magical Magyar underwent surgery on his left ankle at the start of June, but has responded well
to recent treatment and returned to First Team training earlier this week.
The entire A-League has been handed a weekend's recess to allow the national team to concentrate on
their World Cup qualifying visit to Uzbekistan on September 10, but it turns out only one side will
actually be affected by national team coach Pim Verbeek's call-ups.
After finally being convinced to elongate the regular season to allow byes over FIFA-recognised
match dates, Australian football authorities must now wonder why they bothered.

It has happened again, another great footballer is transfer-listed by his club. Last season's best
right-back in the Championship, Bristol City's Bradley Orr, didn't agree the terms of the new
contract with his club and will probably look for new surroundings in January. Orr hasn't been in
the first team for a longer time, and the [.
Surprise promotion contenders Bristol City are starting to feel the pressure of the promotion chase
accoring to manager Gary Johnson. Without a win in five and without back-to-back defeats, the
newly-promoted side are still somehow 2nd in the Championship with Watford and West Brom snapping
at their heels.
Math has never been my strong point, at least not since 6th grade. Once I started taking
pre-algebra the next year, I just knew I was in trouble for the rest of my school days.
I believe, however, that my math is correct in this scenario. If West Brom, currently on top of the
Coca-Cola Championship with 77 points after 44 games, gains two or more points in their last two
games, or if third-place Hull City fails to win both of their remaining games, the Baggies will be
assured of automatic promotion to the Premier League for next season.
Everyones favourite little overachievers Bristol City are in danger of running out of steam before
the finishing line. The previous Championship toppers have finally fallen into the play-off spots.
With 2 games to go, 4 points between them and automatic promotion and their horendous playoff
record, the Robins look set to miss out on the [.
Sunday was a momentous day in the English Championship with the teams going up, getting in the

minutes. As a Watford fan I was right in there. Looking for other scores as our plan to keep things
tight at Blackpool went horribly awry, [.
They'll be dancing in the streets of Hanley and Newcastle-under-Lyme after Stoke City bagged
themselves the second automatic promotion spot on Sunday. The Potters have done magnificently this
season, coming from behind on several occasions to land wins or draws against Championship
opponents and it's hard to argue that they don't deserve their place in [.
