In an incredibly dramatic final day of action, outsiders Liverpool Ladies secured the WSL title after leapfrogging Chelsea and Birmingham to thetrophy.

Finding themselves in third place at the start of the day, behind leaders Chelsea and second-placed Birmingham, the Reds pulled off an incredible title victory by beating Bristol Academy 3-0 courtesy of goals fromNatasha Dowie, Lucy Bronze and Fara Williams (courtesy of a penalty).

Liverpool LFC has clinched their first major honour as they won the FA Women's Super League with a 2-0 defeat of Bristol Academy WFC.
Going into the title decider in Widnes, Liverpool led Bristol by two points so knew a draw would be enough for the championship. In the event Louise Fors put them ahead from the penalty spot on 35 minutes and Katrin Ómarsdóttir doubled the lead in the second half, Liverpool ending Arsenal LFC's nine-season reign.

Arsenal Ladies, who are the reigning champions of the Super League, won their 12th FA Cup on Sunday May 26 when they shutout Bristol Academy 3-0 at the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster. The Arsenal women got off to a flying start when skipper Steph Houghton headed in a cross from the left wing by Rachel Yankey before two minutes had elapsed.
