Check out the video and you'll know how to stop the Roar!
If you watched the recent Wellington Roar game you'll have seen Ivan Franjic played in time and
time again a la the above video training drill. Four men in the box, the ball played back or across
to a Roar player.
In the drill there were only defenders - against Wellington and Victory there were 7 or 8!
Heard the one about the A-League club struggling for crowds and funds?
Yep at seasons end Gold Coast United bring in Shane Smeltz, Korean import Sung-Kil Kim and
Bundesliga player Peter Perchtold. That's expensive, less expensive and probably expensive.
But on 2500 fans and trying to engage the community Chris Harald, Youth Team Captain Stephen
Lustica and others miss out.
Of course I'm a Celtic fan and this is our song.
But anyone at the Socceroos v Uruguay game and indeed watching the Brisbane Roar game on the
weekend will know that this song can work in Australia as well.
So many fans in Australia want their own song, their own anthem, after six seasons, few clubs it
seems has one, one that any fan can join in.
All the hype about Patricio Perez the Mariners star Argentinean counted for nothing as he failed to
deliver in the game that mattered, the A-League semi-final.
A close game and the Mariners were perhaps unlucky not to score as they hit the post a couple of
times but in truth it was Perez with some key space and ball, particularly in the second half who
could not deliver a final ball, or test the Roar keeper with any decent shot that saw the Mariners
needing a miracle in Brisbane.
What have Chichester City, Swindon Supermarine, the Brisbane Roar and a rural agricultural
college in the Gloucestershire countryside got in common?
It's a fairly obscure bit of trivia, which helps chart the footballing career of defender Matt
Smith, who went from the County League title with Chichester to winning the A-League Grand Final
with the Brisbane Roar, via a state league title with Palm Beach, a league title with Swindon
Supermarine, a BUSA title with Hartpury College and the 2007 World Uni Championships.
The last time I wrote about the A-League or the Brisbane Roar was April last year. The short of
what I had to say then was, "the Brisbane Roar cannot repeat its original seduction of this
consumer. This time they're going to have to realise a product that is worth it for me to seek
out."
They have done it.
Für viele ist er Inbegriff des gescheiterten Fussballers.Vor 10 Jahren, als seine Karriere beim
damaligen oberbayerischen Zweitligisten SV Wacker Burghausen begann, dachte ganz
Fussballdeutschland noch, dass aus Thomas Broich einmal ein ganz Großer werden wird. Für die
Medien war er schon so etwas wie ein Messias, jemand der uns die WM 2006 retten wird und [.
Brisbane Roar Football Club (formerly Queensland Roar Football Club) is a professional soccer club
from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia competing in the Hyundai A-League. The Roar was the 2010/11
A-League regular season and playoff champions. As a result, the team is an automatic entrant into
the 2012 AFC Champions League.
I might have to be writing a bit this season. Things are exciting at the Roar and I am full of
material. If anything I've been suffering the writer's block of someone with far too much to say.
So fuck it, I'll start with a rave. Anything to get the gripes with FIFA (which I still have) from
the top of the page and some news of this brilliant team.
The other week I listed ten reasons why it is brilliant to be a Brisbane Roar fan right now. Here's
another one: the media about our team is endless, and pretty much all flattering. Here's just a few
of the headlines from the last few days:
Possession statistics compare A-League's Brisbane Roar to La Liga and European champions

The Roar Effect
Brisbane Roar are a Gift for the A-League
That really is only a few, and they're not by Roar partisans.
Hyundai A-League champions Brisbane Roar finally lost their unbeaten record this season when
going down to a 2-0 reverse at the hands of Sydney FC today.
Two goals in the opening twenty minutes of the match put paid to Brisbane's chances of victory
today but the Roar still top the standings with a three point margin separating them from nearest
challengers Central Coast Mariners.
The Salary Cap has struck again.
Brisbane Roar have lost Thomas Broich, Henrique, Matt Smith and other key players in recent weeks
and as a result despite continuing to boss possession, key goals have been conceded and a lack of
attacking penetration has seem the team suffer three defeats in a row.
