Brilliance from Bendtner, misery for Mertesacker & heartbreak for Benayoun how the
Premier League's newest signings performed on international...
A number of players involved in late deals turned out for their respective national teams over
the past few days and Goal.
Glowing reference from Bendtner's number one fan "Hopefully, when I'm playing Premier League
football every week with Sunderland, I can prove what the world has been missing for a long time."
The world waits to see whether Nicklas Bendtner backs up the latest in a long line of quotes on his
self-professed brilliance with some [.
1. After spending most of last season dreading our away games, how thoroughly refreshing it was
to see United put in a performance like that at a ground we often struggle at. When the chants of
"Are you Arsenal in disguise?" started, with us 3-0 up after 25 minutes, you knew it was going to
be a good day.
Apparently the Iraqis did not play like as what suggested by some being "kids' footballers"
following the remark on the artificial surface of the Jalan Besar Stadium by their coach, Zico
prior to the match.
In fact, the visiting side looked fairly comfortable on the plastic surface with much of the
attacking play by them in the first half.

Freddy Adu said all the right things.
The eyes of the City and the League—dare I say the world?—were focused on the press
conference almost four weeks ago, witnessing the "official" reunion between a former-teenage phenom
and his hard-nosed coach.

Is Sebastien Le Toux back?
Two goals from the run of play in two games, both spectacular in nature.
Is the cold streak over for good? Has the Le Toux we knew and loved returned to greatness?
With strikers, goals can come in bunches and disappear in vacuums.
This international break is over. Thank the lord almighty. More after the jump:
Things done changed
Rejoice, friends. The break is over and we're back to our regularly scheduled programming. NFL
Football (aka Throwball) jumps off this weekend stateside, but who cares about that?
Will Fernando Torres ever get back to being the player he once was?
Fernando Torres was under the spotlight from the moment that he joined Chelsea for £50m. Now we
are heading towards judgement day because he's been there eight months, had chance to settle, had a
pre-season and is still struggling.
Spurs are off and running. The rest have two games start but at least we are in the race. The
season starts here.
Just as this new season had worked up a head of steam with the window closing, plenty of
interest in how new arrivals and reinforced squads would fare, cracking football and lots of goals,
the international break brought everything to a grinding halt.
Franck Ribery loves life without Louis. And it starts to show on the pitch. One
of the best games of the French winger in a while. Robbery sounds great on paper. In reality it was
usually about Arjen Robben cutting inside and scoring decisive goals, while Ribery was doubled,
frustrated and ineffective.
The hat-trick. Once celebrated as an event of occasional brilliance, and a rare event that would
stop the presses. It's now a plaything of the two Manchester clubs. City and United currently have
four between them in the last two ...

Sources in Italy have confirmed that Liverpool is interested in Bologna's attacking midfielder
Gaston Ramirez.
Indeed, the Reds are thought to have indicated that they would pay €10M to take the 20-year-old
to Anfield, though Bologna's cooperation in the matter cannot be assumed.
Ramirez has impressed in Serie A since landing at Bologna last summer, being brought to the
Rossoblu from Uruguayan outfit Penarol.

The goalscorers celebrate Brilliance all over the pitch on Sunday. Adam got the red card he should
have got at the lane last year, and the pace of Bale and the error Liverpool made by giving him too
much space led to the second red card. However, even without the red cards we were well on top of
the game and had the beating of Liverpool from the moment Modric's shot hit the back of the net.

Scott: What is going on with the KC attack nowadays?
Speaking in a rare interview, Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew, has declared that
French-Tunisian wonder winger, Hatem Ben Arfa will have to show more "flashes of brilliance in
training" before he'll give him a first team start. In a somewhat surprising change of tack from
his recent gushing about the player's abilties, Pardew said of [.
Every Barca fan will be approaching this game in most probability with a very much confused
head. The confusion comes from the kind of oscillating results we had since the start of the
season. Already there have been two away matches and same number of home matches. FC Barcelona has
amazed a mind blowing 13 goals in the home matches.
Goals:Johnson (og) 12'
Suarez 38'
Fletcher 46'
Phew. Excellent, if direct, first half. Terrifying, nerve-shredding second. This team doesn't do
anything the easy way.
Despite Wolves running at defenders for the first five to ten minutes, snuffed out by Enrique in
open play and Carroll on set pieces, Liverpool settled with another early strike.
FC Barcelona continued their excellent home run in 2011-12 La Liga season with a 5-0 victory
against the high flying Atletico Madrid. With this victory FC Barcelona moved to second place in
the La Liga standing. David Villa opened the scoring for Barca, followed by an own goal from
Miranda and three brilliant goals from Messi gave Barca a comfortable victory, which is Barca's
fifth in a row against the same side.
At this point in the season, pride is the only thing remaining for the New England Revolution to
fight for. Sitting last in the Eastern Conference with just five games remaining, the Revolution
turn their attention to the Chicago Fire against whom they will do battle Sunday afternoon at
Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL.
Man Utd played their first game without Rooney.Chicharito was taken off early on.
Nani produced another bit of brilliance to give Man Utd the lead late in the first half. However
seven mintues after half time Peter Crouch scored his first goal for Stoke and that's the way the
scoreline stayed till the final whistle.
Match Review: Liverpool 2 Wolves 1
Liverpool bounced back from their defeat against Spurs with three points against Wolves at
Anfield yesterday. The win ended a spell of two league defeats for the Reds and saw them climb back
up to 6th in the table claim their first September Premier League win since the 6-1 victory over
Hull City in 2009.

Liverpool's Luis Suarez shows both brilliance and histrionics as they beat
Wolves
Liverpool's Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez does not, it is fair to say, enjoy being
substituted.

Finally Kenny Dalglish have Steven Gerrard back and in time for Derby day! Couple that with the
excellent showing of Andy Carroll against Wolves and the Reds are looking capable of beating
Everton this Saturday. The right back position is now solid once more with Martin Kelly back from
injury and though Carragher and Skrtel are still weak links in central defence, Everton's lack of
bite upfront will suit Liverpool as they sought to make it back-to-back wins.
