Despite not actually scoring 50% of their goals themselves, Liverpool tonked Brighton 6-1 in the
FA Cup yesterday afternoon and, bless him, it was all too much for Jonjo Shelvey who had to be
removed from the field in a flood of tears having removed all his clothes in a pique of ecstacy at
the final whistle.

It seems as though every week we say it all over again: The next three games could decide
whether Liverpool have a chance of making this at times infuriatingly uneven season a successful
one in the end. And this time around we mean it. At least as long as Liverpool come out with three
wins signifying advancement to the FA Cup quarter-finals, their first trophy in six years, and
victory over a rival for fourth that could conceivably see them one point out of a Champions League
spot.
Fabricio Coloccini as expected is back in the starting line-up for Newcastle at Ewood Park
tonight. Coloccini missed Saturday's FA Cup 1-0 defeat at Brighton with a slight groin strain, but
he comes straight back into the Newcastle side for a tough game against Blackburn Rovers.
Ryan Taylor comes in for Yohan Cabaye in central midfield, and he did so well there in the QPR
game, when Cabaye [.
Luis Suarez is back from his suspension, Manchester United's tired of having 3,000 Liverpool
supporters out-sing 70,000-odd United fans whenever the clubs meet at Old Trafford, and it turns
out Liverpool signed an attacking player over the January transfer window after all. And also it's
Friday, so let's get busy wasting a bit of time.
February kicks off for Liverpool on Monday, with Spurs set to visit Anfield in the first match
of another important month. Liverpool will look to carry their momentum from the domestic cup
triumphs and a comfortable 3-0 win at Wolves into the match, which hopefully signals a turnaround
from a disappointing league stretch to open 2012 that had seen them winless until the final day of
January.
Liverpool defender Martin Kelly has rubbished suggestions that the significance of the FA Cup is
on the decline, taking the occasion to reveal his personal dream to lift the trophy.
Kelly was a part of the club's most recent triumph a 2-1 win at Anfield over Manchester United
in the competition and as this weekend's fixture against Brighton approaches, he cannot wait to
help the Reds progress further.

Back to action for Liverpool as they host Brighton in the 5th round of the FA Cup tomorrow at
Anfield. It's a chance for the hosts to rebound after the disappointing display last Saturday at
Old Trafford, as well as to continue their excellent form in domestic cup competition. Brighton
come to town after narrowly progressing in each of the past two rounds, and just a few points away
from playoff contention in the Championship after a terrific start to 2012.
Pleeeeeeeease let us win?...Liverpool welcome Gus Poyet's
Brighton & Hove Albion to Anfield on Sunday for the 5th round of the FA Cup. The two sides have
already met this season when the Reds got the better of Brighton on their home turf in the League
Cup.
Brighton don't have any major injury worries and their two on loan players from Manchester City are
expected to make their debuts; Abdul Razak & Gai Assulin.
Ahead of this evening's 5th round tie between Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield, Gus
Puyet was in resilient form ahead of the FA Cup tie:
"I will do everything I can to win a football match, whatever you can imagine."
Brighton lie two points of the play-off places and are undefeated in ten games to date.

There's history here, you know. When Liverpool were the kings of English and European football,
Brighton & Hove Albion had a curious habit of being able to dump them out of the FA Cup. They did
it at Anfield on the way to Wembley in 1983, and then again at The Goldstone Ground the following
year. Times have changed since then, of course.
In a shocking turn of events, Liverpool strolled into the FA Cup quarter finals after a 6-1 win
over Brighton at Anfield today. Well, Liverpool's win was not as shocking as Brighton conceding
half of the 6 goals through own goals.
Brighton's Liam Bridcutt was on the Reds score sheet twice, scoring in the 44th minute and the
71st minute to cap off a horrible outing for the championship side.

Three League Cup victories sorted in our stroll down historical avenue, four to go, and for the
love of Fowler why isn't it Sunday yet I can't stand the wait and I'm nervous and I think I cut
myself underneath the fingernail chewing on the fingernail because I'm so nervous I'm chewing on my
fingernails or at least I cut myself underneath the fingernail somehow and why isn't it Sunday
yet?
Lets take a look at Liverpool's Carling Cup run leading up to Sunday's Final. No one will be
able to say Liverpool have had an easy run into the finals after being drawn away in every round up
to the semi-finals. While knocking out heavy weights Chelsea and Manchester City on the way.
Second Round: Exeter vs Liverpool - 24/08/11
Liverpool went about their business early on in the Carling Cup by fielding a strong lineup in
their opening game.
