Souleymane Coulibaly got his Spurs career off to a flying start with a goal inside ten minutes
of his debut as a Spurs XI drew 2-2 with Brighton in Portugal.
Brighton went 2-0 up early on but a long range effort from Andros Townsend pulled one back to
see the youngsters go in for half time one goal down.

Gus Poyet's patient pursuit of Craig Noone finally came to fruition on New Year's Eve when the

There was, perhaps, something inevitable that it would all come down to a ninety minute
shoot-out. That FC United of Manchester is in itself an extraordinary part of our football culture
is without doubt, but even the most optimistic of their supporters could scarcely have guessed at
the amount of drama that they have managed this season, from an FA Cup run that took in a last
minute win at Rochdale and a last minute penalty save at Brighton to a league season that saw them
end last year nearer to relegation than the play-off places, yet has ended up on the North Wales

The Monday Profile was first conceived in Plymouth's Fortescue pub over a couple of
post-Christmas 2009 ales. Given that this site's focus invariably falls on club-level and
off-the-field issues and concerns, it was felt that a new column that honed in on individual
players would allow us to get closer to the Football League's rank and file.

Darren Bent firing over so disastrously at Wembley a fortnight ago will have provided Charlton

little to detract from the match day experience at the Valley. At a community club, those long

For the simple reason that we think the Seagulls would have been less likely to stroll to
promotion like they did without him, Elliott Bennett takes this year's Young Player award. Of
course, the man of the protruding tongue has since caved in to Paul Lambert's advances but given
the Canaries' rising star, who can really blame the lad?
It will come as no surprise that the words ‘simply' and ‘astonishing' were used by several
different contributors independently of one another in reference to Paul Lambert's stewardship at
Carrow Road. It's a kind of rags to riches story that's been done to death, of course. Indeed, in
trying to sum the past two years, which have seen Lambert pick Norwich up by the scruff and

Spanning our coverage to three divisions would always present problems when deciding upon this
season's best team. Just as the WBA, IBF and WBC versions of international boxing competed for
eminence in the 1980s, Queen's Park Rangers, Chesterfield and Brighton and Hove Albion possess
equal claims to be the top canines thirty or so years on.
After what seems an eternity in the thrall of Sky Sports News and their incessant pimping of

Brighton & Hove Albion played Doncaster Rovers in the last ever game at the Goldstone Ground. Fast
forward to the present day, and they were at it again - for the first ever league game at The
American Express Community Stadium.
The real party, of course, was on Saturday. Brighton & Hove Albion marked their arrival at The
Amex Community Stadium with a late, late win against Doncaster Rovers, but the celebrations
continued this evening with a narrow win against Gillingham of League Two. After fourteen years
waiting, though, could the new stadium possibly live up to expectations?
With the top two from last year's League 1 table being transposed atop the Championship, it is
perhaps understandable that much attention has been focused on the South Coast mutual dislike
society, Southampton and Brighton. However, the third of the promoted clubs have also made an
encouraging start to their campaign.

There's usually two schools of thought after particularly awful matches things could be so bad
that some swear off the football for awhile, the things they've seen never to unseen. Or there's
the view that another match can't come quickly enough, regardless of whether or not it promises
something better.

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has been told that he must decide himself whether he is ready to
start a Premier League game.
The England international could return at the weekend in time for a derby day clash against Everton
after coming on in the last two Liverpool games against Brighton and Wolverhampton.
Liverpool legend John Barnes believes that Liverpool rely too much on Luis Suarez, even going so
far as to suggest that without the Uruguayan striker, the club would struggle to win games. Do you
agree?
Barnes told Goal.com:
"Luis Suarez is fantastic but I wish it was not all about Gerrard and Suarez.
Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini is allegedly on Liverpool's Christmas shopping list
whilst Steve Harper might be off for a spell at Brighton. Shockingly, it's only 10 weeks until
Christmas, which for a humbug like me is a disturbing thought. And shortly after that it's the
January sales, although in this case I'm talking about [.
Of course, as most of you will already know, Steve Harper's loan move to Brighton was confirmed
earlier today, with ex Charlton keeper, Rob Elliot now replacing him as the full time backup for
Flying Dutchman, Tim Krul. Speaking on the move in a rare interview, Newcastle United's Silver
Supremo, Alan Pardew, said: "The paperwork [.
As we approach the halfway point in the League One season, more or less nothing has yet been
decided and with each passing week more questions are being asked of which more or less none are
being definitively answered. No matter which we way we choose to interpret this league table, it
makes for extraordinary reading.

Edin Dzeko's late equaliser earned Man City a replay at Eastlands which ought to ensure their
place in the 5th round of the FA Cup, meaning that's where we'll almost certainly be heading. It
wasn't the re-match with the Blues many fans feared or hoped for, but it's far from ideal.
I suppose there is still the chance that Notts County could beat City, but it's slim.
