The Daily Mail today reports that Robinho was swanning off to Brazil whilst his new Man City
teammates were getting shamed by Brighton in the Carling Cup... The Mail reckons Sparky Hughes gave
his big-money signing special dispensation to leave, saying: Sportsmail understands that Robinho,
23, had been given permission by manager Mark .
Amid the frenzy surrounding Manchester City and the transfer of Robinho sending shockwaves through
the world, Glauber Berti was another Brazilian international travelling through the revolving doors
at Eastlands. The ‘one-cap wonder' arrives to strengthen Mark Hughes' defensive options.
Upsets left right and centre in today's FA Cup action. But what was the biggest shock?Coventry
somehow managed to obliterate Blackburn 4-1, whilst League One Huddersfield beat Birmingham 2-1.
Special mention should also go to Sheffield United who booted out Bolton with a 1-0 win lowly and
injury ravaged Oldham, who beat Everton 1-0 at [.
Two signings that look close to being completed are the moves of keeper Scott Carson from Liverpool
to Premier League new boys, Stoke City, and West Ham striker Bobby Zamora to Fulham. Both of these
moves could be good news for the players and should be good news for their new clubs. Despite Scott
Carson's nightmare performance for England in the deciding and fatal encounter against Croatia at
Wembley, he had a fine season for Aston Villa.

Upon signing for Fulham earlier this week, Bobby Zamora claimed that he wouldn't be the last one to
leave Upton Park this summer. The former Brighton and Spurs striker gave the impression that West
Ham seemed to be short of a bob or two, and that also appears to be ...
John Arne Riise's move to Roma is expected to go through by the end of the week – as Gareth
Barry's arrival at Anfield took a step closer.
Liverpool and Roma are set to agree terms on a switch for Riise this week, with the Norwegian
defender hopeful the Reds will compromise on their demands for £5m.
The Carling Cup fourth-round draw took place Saturday, and Chelsea have to be pleased with the
outcome or are they? Our Blues will welcome Championship side Burnley to Stamford Bridge on
November 11 or 12.
We all remember how Chelsea fared against Barnsley in last year's FA Cup. Still, I don't think
this tie will be much of a problem.
Finally work on Brighton & Hove Albion's new stadium at Falmer gets underway on 17th
December, eight days before Christmas Day.
The Albion have been residing at The Withdean Stadium for god knows how long after moving
out of the Goldstone Ground in Hove, many many many years ago.
Southend United have strengthened their squad by signing Ipswich left back Dan Harding on a 6-month
loan and Bristol City winger Kevin Betsy for a nominal fee.
The two players go straight into the squad to face Peterborough on Saturday. Harding - who's 24 -
says he's taken the decision to drop down a division to get some first team football and the move
is likely to be made permanent in January, if the player performs well.
Within the last half-hour Southend United have completed the signing of Francis Laurent. The
Frechman moves to Roots Hall on a one-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months.
The 22-year-old had a trial with Barnet in the middle of August but they refused the option of
signing him. The striker was part of FC Mainz 05's team last season and played 6
times as a substitute.
Cups, cups, cups. That's all I've got time for lately -- reporting cup draws. Yep, Catoptric
continues to be a can't-miss blog. Article here. Carling Cup third round draw: Arsenal v Sheff Utd

Arsenal v Sheffield United; Brighton or Manchester City v Derby County; Burnley v Fulham;

A few interesting third-round draws with Carling Cup holders Spurs away against a listless
Newcastle United squad. Also, Manchester City fresh off of their 6-0 thumping of Portsmouth travel
to Brighton and Hove Albion. Portsmouth attempt to rebound at home against Chelsea. Manchester
United host Middlesbrough and several reports state that Ronaldo is set to receive
more playing time as he comes back from ankle surgery.
The draw for the Carling Cup Fourth Round was made this afternoon and it has certainly not
disappointed. It has thrown up some mouth-watering ties which will be played the week commencing
10th of November.
The tie of the round is obviously the game to be played at White Hart Lane. Cup holders Tottenham
will entertain Rafa Benitez' Liverpool.
Defending-champ Tottenham (that's weird to say) drew Liverpool in perhaps the most intriguing
match-up.
A, your team's going down. QPR drew Manchester United.Man. United v. QPR Burnley v. Chelsea
