Despite our claims to unbiased coverage on this website, it can be difficult – sometimes – to
think independently of our individual hues. Awarding Plymouth Argyle – my own team – with the
best fans award this year is such a case, although we'd argue that it's on good grounds. Pretty
much everyone, by now, should be cognisant of what a traumatic time it's been for all those
attached to the Football League's most westerly club.
The nominations for this year's biggest disappointment were peppered with under performing strikers
although our Cumbrian correspondent John McGee decided not to continue his anti-Jordan Rhodes
tirade by opting for Matt Tubbs instead. Having starred previously for Salisbury, the Crawley man
returned to Wessex in January but managed only one goal for Bournemouth, despite a hefty fee.

You may be of the opinion that Arsenal failed to win anything during 2011/12, but we're here to
tell you that you're so goddamn wrong that it's actually a little embarrassing just how wrong you
are.
Today word came out from Peter Vermes and Sporting KC that the team has decided not to appeal the
red card against Roger Espinoza in KC's 2-1 loss to Chicago. Vermes said that they decided not to
appeal for "many reasons." Certainly one of those reasons is probably the word frivolous. If the
disciplinary committee deems an appeal frivolous, they can double the suspension.
Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez currently leads the betting odds as the next Aston Villa
manager. Martinez is followed by Norwich City manager Paul Lambert and Brighton & Hove Albion
manager Guy Poyet.
A new manager is unlikely to be announced right away but it could be as soon as later this
week.
Signing his professional contract in December 2006, the world was at the young Welshman's feet.
Having lightning fast pace, great stamina and positional awareness put Ribeiro's name on the radar
for the bigger clubs such as Everton. Ribeiro opted to stay at Ashton Gate stating: ''I felt I had
a better chance of playing regular football for Bristol City at the time'' Only making 14
appearances due to an injury-hit 5 seasons at Ashton Gate saw his contract finally terminated by
City this summer.

[O]nce upon a time, the PFA Awards were the undisputed measure of a season's most valuable players.
Voted for by the Professionals themselves, the response to their announcement was one of awed hush
and consent – how could mere onlookers presume to know better than those involved in the rough
and tumble of the actual sport?

Our latest entry in the Hopeless Teams series comes from Stefan Swift, co-editor of that hip
Brighton fanzine The Seagull Love Review. Following his sidekick Sam Swaffield's excellent
assessment of Brighton's current season over on the 72, Stef considers an unhappier time for Albion
supporters when, less than four years ago, a club legend well and truly blotted his Seagulls
copybook.
Hmm, it is of course tempting to fill this page with doom and gloom as I did for the Leeds preview.
It wouldn't be unreasonable, Brighton are a decent side and they've only lost one game in 2012 so
far and find themselves firmly ensconced in contention for the play-offs. Irrespective of the
justifiable boost that Tuesday's game at Elland Road will give us, it's probably reasonable to
assume that the Seagulls will provide a sterner test [.
The Liverpool vice captain admits losing his place in the starting line-up this season has given
him a new appreciation of his career at Anfield.
However, Carragher is not ready to give up on his footballing days just yet as he is keen to add
more winners' medals to the Carling Cup the club lifted last month.
Yohan Cabaye didn't have one of his best games for Newcastle on Saturday. Yohan Cabaye - not at
his best on Saturday But we expect him to improve quickly, as he finds his feet again in the
Newcastle first team, after missing three games through picking up a violent conduct ban
at Brighton in the FA Cup defeat.

Lets take a look at Liverpool's Carling Cup run leading up to Sunday's Final. No one will be
able to say Liverpool have had an easy run into the finals after being drawn away in every round up
to the semi-finals. While knocking out heavy weights Chelsea and Manchester City on the way.
Second Round: Exeter vs Liverpool - 24/08/11
Liverpool went about their business early on in the Carling Cup by fielding a strong lineup in
their opening game.
Three League Cup victories sorted in our stroll down historical avenue, four to go, and for the
love of Fowler why isn't it Sunday yet I can't stand the wait and I'm nervous and I think I cut
myself underneath the fingernail chewing on the fingernail because I'm so nervous I'm chewing on my
fingernails or at least I cut myself underneath the fingernail somehow and why isn't it Sunday
yet?

Despite not actually scoring 50% of their goals themselves, Liverpool tonked Brighton 6-1 in the
FA Cup yesterday afternoon and, bless him, it was all too much for Jonjo Shelvey who had to be
removed from the field in a flood of tears having removed all his clothes in a pique of ecstacy at
the final whistle.

In a shocking turn of events, Liverpool strolled into the FA Cup quarter finals after a 6-1 win
over Brighton at Anfield today. Well, Liverpool's win was not as shocking as Brighton conceding
half of the 6 goals through own goals.
Brighton's Liam Bridcutt was on the Reds score sheet twice, scoring in the 44th minute and the
71st minute to cap off a horrible outing for the championship side.
There's history here, you know. When Liverpool were the kings of English and European football,
Brighton & Hove Albion had a curious habit of being able to dump them out of the FA Cup. They did
it at Anfield on the way to Wembley in 1983, and then again at The Goldstone Ground the following
year. Times have changed since then, of course.

Liverpool cruise to an easy victory at Anfield, forcing Brighton into three own goals and
getting one apiece from Andy Carroll, Luis Suarez, and Martin Skrtel.

English FA Cup Match Predictions 19 February 2012 - The 90th Minute Soccer Blog
Ahead of this evening's 5th round tie between Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield, Gus
Puyet was in resilient form ahead of the FA Cup tie:
"I will do everything I can to win a football match, whatever you can imagine."
Brighton lie two points of the play-off places and are undefeated in ten games to date.
Pleeeeeeeease let us win?...Liverpool welcome Gus Poyet's
Brighton & Hove Albion to Anfield on Sunday for the 5th round of the FA Cup. The two sides have
already met this season when the Reds got the better of Brighton on their home turf in the League
Cup.
Brighton don't have any major injury worries and their two on loan players from Manchester City are
expected to make their debuts; Abdul Razak & Gai Assulin.
Back to action for Liverpool as they host Brighton in the 5th round of the FA Cup tomorrow at
Anfield. It's a chance for the hosts to rebound after the disappointing display last Saturday at
Old Trafford, as well as to continue their excellent form in domestic cup competition. Brighton
come to town after narrowly progressing in each of the past two rounds, and just a few points away
from playoff contention in the Championship after a terrific start to 2012.

now... The Brighton game in the Carling Cup was the first time Suarez and Bellamy had started
