the real life story of Vince Papale.
The Milwaukee Bavarians gained an extra home match in National Premier Soccer League play, and
made the most of the situation.
UW-Parkside's Cyril Simmons and Marquette's Amilcar Herrera
(Milwaukee Riverside) scored as the Bavarians beat the Chicago Fire 2-1 in front of a good crowd in
Glendale to remain perfect in Midwest Division play.
The New England Revolution will wrap up their two-match home stand on Saturday against their
bitter rivals the Chicago Fire in an encounter that is shaping up to be a basement brawl. Chicago
has had a miserable season thus far and currently sits even with the Revolution on points in a tie
for second-to-last place in the Eastern Conference.

Revs' third match in seven days and their second straight at home before a cross-country trip to
Qwest Field next weekend. The Revolution targeted six points from this home stand but will need a

victory over the Fire back in April launched the Timbers' 5 game home winning streak that prompted
JELD-WEN Field to be called a fortress. Between April 1st and May 21st, Portland went 5-1-2 and
even took a draw from Seattle on the road.

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- The Fire outshot them, hit two posts, and had the ball in their attacking
third for much of the game.
But for the Portland Timbers, who beat Chicago 1-0 Saturday at Toyota Park, it felt great just to
get a road win.
While it wasn't necessarily pretty, Jack Jewsbury was upbeat after the Timbers' first road victory
in eight tries snapped their seven-game unbeaten streak.
Media Day at the Bridgeview Sportsdome featured the full current roster in training with the
exception of the two mystery international strikers, Deris Umanzor who has been loaned to Aguila in
El Salvador, and Steve Kinney and Mike Banner who are recovering from injuries.
Carlos De Los Cobos and Frank Klopas addressed the media after training.
To say that the Chicago Fire has undergone a roster turnover heading into the 2011 MLS season
would be to make a strong understatement. Gone from Toyota park is Fire mainstay C.J. Brown, local
hero Brian McBride, ticket sellers Nery Castillo and Freddie Ljungberg, the dynamic Wilman Conde,
the versatile-but-injured John Thorrington and the untapped potential of Collins John.
Today's match-up between the Galaxy and the expansion Portland Timbers is a tale of four teams
and the question is which two are going to show up.
On the one hand we have an expansion franchise (though not completely new the Timbers have
played quality futbol as part of the old USL-1 and other domestic leagues for years) which got a
point out of its first four games and then exploded at home for six points and seven gols.

than the last, which is something that will serve the league well in general audience perception
for national broadcasts.
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. - Chicago Fire forwards Cristian Nazarit and Orr Barouch starred in Tuesday's
5-0 reserve league win over FC Dallas, with Nazarit scoring a hat trick and Barouch bagging a brace
in the romp at the Toyota Park practice field.
While the goals didn't come against first-team competition, they were still important for the
young strikers, who are both looking to rebuild their confidence following lengthy goal-less
streaks.

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- New York Red Bulls manager Hans Backe just didn't seem to care about the
U.S. Open Cup – at least not on Tuesday, when his team played the Chicago Fire in its fourth of
nine games in July.
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – The Chicago Fire broke their 10-game league winless streak Sunday night,
beating fellow Eastern Conference strugglers Toronto FC 2-0 in front of 12,020 at Toyota Park.
Chicago forward Dominic Oduro scored an early goal and former TFC defender Dan Gargan doubled
the advantage in the second half, giving the Fire their first win since June 12th and just their
third of the season.

the Crew that had everything to play for and the Fire just playing out the string. You wouldn't
have known it based on how both teams came out though, as the Fire completed a strong finish to the
2011 season with another victory while the Crew stumbled their way into the post-season.
