This weekend's headlines were stolen by Emmauel Adebayor even before a ball was
kicked. Saturday morning, Adebayor finally lashed out at his former club Arsenal,
moments before the Gunners kicked-off a challenging visit to the
Eastlands.
Ok, so Thursday and Friday still feel like a blur and well today, all that's left is the smell of
two day old vomit in a bucket and pictures to remind me of the mess Manchester United made of the
UEFA Champions League final. By now though, you've probably seen and read just about every report
in the world analysing the match so I'm going to take it from another angle.
The Drog loses it After Barcelona's late, late equaliser/winner at the Bridge last night, Didier
Drogba was not a happy bunny. As the above video shows, he harrassed the ref, Tom Henning Ovrebo,
calling the Norwegian ref's performance "a fucking...
In the mid 1980s, Ian Rush became tantalisingly close to forming a mouth-watering strike
partnership with Diego Maradona. Sounds like fiction (!), but it's actually 100% fact.
After scoring 108 goals in 174 games for Liverpool, winning three league championships in a row and
lifting the European Cup in Rome, Rush was tempted to leave his beloved Anfield for Napoli in 1984.
My obsession with Moses Mabhida Stadium has taken me and my camera there in all kinds of weather
yesterday the weather was grey and every now and they it was drizzling, but Durban's 2010 World Cup
Stadium still took my breath away, like it does, every time I look at it through my lens.
People's Park
I first jumped out of the car on the bridge that crosses highway to take some pics across the
People's Park with the oval walking track that is being constructed- they have cleared all that
rubbish and railway yard stuff, and the actual track is taking shake in front of the stadium in the
Kings Park Sporting Precinct.
First of all, observe this visual:
That is a dive. Many players dive in the premier league, as well as around the world.
Many players win penalties by diving.
This happened at Anfield. Home of Liverpool. Liverpool were down 1-2 to Birmingham. The
resulting penalty was converted and they tied the match 2-2.
Another season of Fantasy Football under the bridge... how did you do? Our side finished with
1901 points, in 31,019 position; a huge jump from last season's 33,211th. In a thousand years time
we might win it. Read on the see the season's dream team...
Here it is - the season's dream team. Few surprises really, the Ronaldo/Gerrard/Lampard
triumverate featuring once again.

Next week FC Barcelona will continue their quest to raise the Champions League cup as they take
on Premiership powerhouse Chelsea. The last time the two teams went up against each other in the
Champions League, Barcelona eliminated Chelsea in the knockout stage on their way to winning the
cup that year.
The Real Madrid rumor mill is in full flight once again, although this time it's a Chelsea
player that is at the center of the speculation. Eduardo Garcia, who is running for the Real Madrid
presidency, has told the media that he has an agreement in place that will bring the Ivorian
striker to Spain if he wins the election.
If there's one thing I hate more than anything else it's the constant transfer rumours that keep
coming up time and time again when the summer window opens. Last year it was the Gareth Barry to
Liverpool/Arsenal nonsense that almost drove me over the edge. And this year...well it was the
Barry nonsense again that had me ready to jump off a bridge just so I wouldn't have to hear about
it ever again.
It has been a below-par start to the season for Liverpool in terms of results and performance, and
although nothing is decided in August or September, there is precious little room for error from
this point forward. As such, I have gone through the club's remaining fixtures for the season and
looked at the type of results Liverpool must arguably achieve in order to win the title.
Ok, we face Chelski at the bridge on Sunday after Tuesday's poor performance against Fiorentina
midweek, so how are we gonna do?
First of all we need a good effort in midfield from the likes of Mascherano who I hope will be fit
enough to play following his hamstring problem, we also need Steven Gerrard playing there to
strengthen a midfield which was so poor midweek.
Well the first big move of the transfer window has been completed as Wayne Bridge moves from
Chelsea to Manchester City to shore up their defense. Honestly, I never really understood why Wayne
Bridge continued to stay at Chelsea anyway as Ashley Cole, his competition at club and
international level, continued to be first choice at Chelsea.
So this is the second time in a few weeks where a footballer - one kinda famous, one kinda not so
much - has demolished the front of his car only to walk away completely unscathed. First it was
Torino's Angelo Ogbonna, who drove his off a bridge and is the luckier though slightly less [...]
Seven months ago Luiz Felipe Scolari was hired to take the manager position of Chelsea, and on
February 9, 2009, he was fired after a lackluster season thus far. The problem with the firing is
that they got rid of the wrong man. Now there are 11 men on the field and only one manager, so
getting rid of the manager is the easy thing to do since you can rarely eliminate three or four non
performing players.
No doubt, it is great to see two massive sides come together at a massive venue in massive form.
Furthermore, if the clash between these two teams has been scheduled for months, proceedings become
even more pulsating. Fans of both teams feel the chills down their spines while the neutrals across
the world just wait restlessly for a cracker of a game.
What's next for the self proclaimed special one?
In what is being called, by many UEFA pundits, arguably the most thrilling Champions League
quarterfinal in recent memory, Chelsea knocked Liverpool out 7-5 on aggregate. However, the
aggregate score is certainly flattering for the Blues, who defended amateurish throughout the
second leg at home tonight.
Kansas City head coach Curt Onalfo has explained how he saved his family from being crushed to
death. Kansas City head coach Curt Onalfo has describe the car accident that nearly claimed his and
his families life last weekend before his teams game against the New York Red Bulls. Speaking to
reporters this week Onalfo said: "A tractor trailer came head on at us.
It's a tough ask for any team to go to 'The Bridge' against a team of seasoned professionals like
Chelsea and sneak a result. But if it's any team that can do it, you best bet your lucky stars that
team is Barcelona. Not that I don't think Chelsea will hold their own tonight, it's just that the
Spaniards are at the top of their game at the moment and will pull the strings in controlling this
match, as they did so easily last week.
All they needed was a win to make sure they were free of being dragged in to the final day
relegation battle against a side guaranteed Premiership Football for next season but Portsmouth
proved a bridge too far for Sunderland. They will now go in to Sunday's final round of matches
knowing whatever happens they have to match Newcastle United and Hull City's results come 6pm to
have any chance of survival.
After several teams looked sluggish and tired at the weekend, this midweek round could see some
very random results even by the Tippeliga's standards..
Wednesday
Fredrikstad (14th) Lyn (16th)
One rather peculiar quirk of the current standings is that bottom of the table Lyn actually have
a better goal difference than Aalesund, who are eighth.
So according to the press Chelsea will announce their first signings of the summer when they unveil
Yuri Zhirkov, Daniel Sturridge and Ross Turnbull as the latest recruits to the Bridge. Zhirkov (who
can play anywhere down the left flank) will sign for a reported £17m, Sturridge to be decided by
tribunal and Turnbull from Middlesborough on a free transfer to come in as Cech's understudy.
Last week I heard this song on the radio, Electric Feel by MGMT.
I had heard this song a handful of times, but couldn't figure out why it sounded familar. Then
it came to me. Wait for the chorus at 0:52 of Found A Job by Talking Heads:
MGMT's last album was one of the most critically acclaimed of last year.
In yet another reason why the Internet rules, Soul Train has its own YouTube channel.
I can be 98% sure that, in the mid-70s, I was the only boy in my neighborhood who watched Soul
Train. Obviously, I had no idea why it was such a culturally important show, and it didn't matter
that the dancers or performers looked like nobody I knew.

There isn't anyone in the country (apart from Burnley fans) who are not surprised by the start that
Owen Coyle's Burnley have had to their Premier League season. To have two great results against Man
Utd and Everton where virtually all of us would of had them down as home "bankers" is fantastic and
they are next at the Bridge on Saturday for the lunchtime, televised kick off at 1245.
World football's governing body FIFA has given Chelsea FC a one year transfer ban for the Blues'
alleged role in making youngster Gael Kakuta break his contract with French club Lens. Chelsea will
not be able to buy or even loan players in the next two transfer windows ( The January 2010 winter
window, and the [.
Ironically, though it's labeled as a decider, the outcome of tonight's match might end up not
carrying much weight when things come to a close. Because even with a win tonight, we'd have to
count on Ukraine dropping points to either Belarus tonight or England in one month's time. And if
on par with points before the very last fixture, goal difference would kick in, meaning basically
we'd go head to head as to who can batter their opponents more on the night (those unlucky sides
being Kazahstan and Andorra respectively).
Much love to Everton's Tim Cahill for dedicating his game-winning goal in Europa League action to
the tsunami victims in Samoa -- he's got family there.
Also, credit to Hull City and manager Phil Brown for talking down an apparent bridge-jumper down
from committing suicide.
Good stuff guys.
Good news for Chelsea Blues despite a 0-2 Reserves loss to Arsenal yesterday: Joe Cole is making
more moves to return to the Bridge full force. Match reports state Cole was looking fully fit
yesterday and even showing increased strength towards match end, despite looking shaky in Chelsea's
League Cup tie with QPR last week.
Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has become the latest Barcelona star to egotistically
pronounce the treble winning club's's dominance over their global rivals. Following Sweden's bitter
loss to Denmark this weekend, where the spotlight was stolen away from him thanks to Nicklas
Bendtner's scintillating performance for the Danes, Ibrahimovic has taken his frustrations out on
former club Inter Milan.
They call him Mr. Chelsea, and Blues skipper John Terry certainly lived up to that billing when
he recently decided to take control of the financial aspect of the women's football team at
Stamford Bridge. The economy certainly hit the Chelsea ladies very hard as a significant portion
of their funding from previous years was slashed this season.
Meet England's new Assistant Head Coach
Guardian Headline: "Ice hockey is crazy because it's a mix between boxing and other sports. The
referee has to stop the game all the time because each incident leads to a boxing match."
Fabio Capello: Okay, John Terry, when the opposing forward gets too close and, como se dice,
slashes you with a low stick near, your ah, the ah, loose parts, you will throw off your gloves and
skate up to him, and stop, and spray him with ice.
Chelsea beat Porto last night 1-0 with a goal from Nicolas Anelka to top the Champions League group
stages last night. The result mean't that the group was done and dusted with a game to go against
APOEL at the Bridge and a chance for us to rest some players.
The 1-0 win last night turned out to be enough on the night to see us through but I have to say I
wasn't impressed at all with our performance.
ANDREI ARSHAVIN will sign for Arsenal this month — despite Zenit St Petersburg turning down
an initial £10million bid. Club spokesman Alexei Petrov revealed: "I can confirm that
Zenit did get an official offer of about £10m from Arsenal for Andrei Arshavin. "It was
rejected as insufficient. No new offers have arrived from [.

Another season, and another dramatic sacking by Chelsea Football Club. The latest sacking of Felipe
Scolari has prompted football fans to ask many questions. Perhaps the most popular question at the
moment is in regards to the connection between Chelsea and Real Madrid. Real Madrid have always
been a quality club.
Over the course of Premier League history, fans have seen some whacky characters. From Eric Cantona
to Jose Mourinho, certain people just stuck out as people who believed in entitlement. Similar to
the American view of manifest destiny, in football we see players and managers feel entitled to
winning things.
