Mitchell, Orediggers upset FLC

Kayla Mitchell scored twice as the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team defeated RMAC tournament champion Fort Lewis 2-1 on Sunday at Dirks Field in Durango.

Mines (19-4-0) will face Metropolitan State College at noon Friday at Auraria Field in downtown Denver.

Mitchell, who finished the match with eight shots, scored the winning goal in the 40th minute, capitalizing on some miscommunication in the Fort Lewis defense.

Mines’ victory ends Regis’ season

Mines claims No. 2 seed in RMAC tourney

The Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team won its fourth straight match, posting a 2-0 victory over Colorado Christian on Sunday afternoon in Golden. The win helped the Orediggers secure the No. 2 seed in the RMAC tournament, the highest seed Mines has ever earned.

Dani Hering gave Mines a lead in the 10th minute of the match.

Kayla Mitchell scored four goals, including her conference-leading 26th of the season, as the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team posted its 12th shutout, a 4-0 victory against CSU-Pueblo on Friday in Golden.

The Orediggers have shut out seven of their past eight opponents.

Mitchell gave Mines a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute, when Liz Oba chipped a ball over the CSU-Pueblo defense.

Freshman Kettman leads Regis past Mines in crucial RMAC match

The Regis University women's soccer team, seeded two spots behind the Colorado School of Mines in the Central Region rankings, used a goal by freshman Erin Kettmann to knock off the Orediggers 1-0 on Wednesday in Golden.

Regis, ranked fifth in the region, improved to 10-2-2 overall and 7-1-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with its fifth win in as many matches.

Copeland’s goal helps Regis tie Mines

James Copeland scored as the Regis University men's soccer team tied the 15th-ranked Colorado School of Mines on Friday in Denver.

Regis remained unbeaten in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The Rangers' record is 4-2-3 overall, 2-0-3 in conference.

"Whenever you play Mines, it is going to be a tough match, especially when they are ranked in the Top 15," Regis coach Tony McCall said.

Orediggers shut out Lady Blues

The Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team claimed its first win of 2009, blanking Washburn 2-0 on Friday in Golden.

Kayla Mitchell scored the winning goal at the 30-minute mark, and she fed Allison Heeg just after the hour mark to stretch the Orediggers' lead to two.

Mines held the Lady Blues to five shots and just two corner kicks.
