Pálsson (#44): The Newest VikingThe New York Red Bulls made the signing of Icelandic
international Victor Pálsson official today, confirming the player's recent comments on his
Twitter account that he had put pen to paper on a two year agreement. Pálsson, a rangy, physical
player a bit in the style of Tony Tchani, joins a crowd of holding midfielders that includes Rafa
Marquez and Teemu Tainio.
Brian Nielsen Playing Soccer: A Rare SightThe bulk of the New York Red Bulls squad gathered
today at Montclair State University for the first training session of the 2012 season. It was a
chance for new arrivals such as Ryan Meara and Jonathan Borrajo to meet their new teammates (well
most of them anyway) and begin the process of building up fitness.

Ream: West Brom Bound?Following a turbulent 2011 regular season for the New York Red Bulls,
General Manager Erik Solér and Head Coach Hans Backe have played their cards very close to the
vest as they look to reshape and add depth to the squad for 2012. Apart from sanctioning the
departure of a half dozen fringe players and exposing highly-paid veterans such as Carlos Mendes,
Bouna Coundoul and Chris Albright to this year's Re-Entry Draft (Mendes has since been snapped up
by Columbus), there has been little to no action to report.
A couple weeks ago, I put up the New York Red Bulls roster prior to the beginning of the
off-season. Mr. Soler and Mr. Backe have been busy since then, and over at our facebook page,
members of the Viper's Nest Editorial Board have been clamoring for an updated post to sum up the
salary and roster ramifications of the moves thus far.
At last! What every Red Bulls fan has been waiting for, and just in time for the Holidays! Yep, the
new home kit is out and it's pretty nice, if I do say so myself. It almost replicates the design of
last year's stunning away kit, except the 2012 home version has a v-neck and also sports a subtle
pinstripe stitch.
With the expansion draft just two weeks away, Red Bulls fans are debating the merits of who to
protect and who to expose. Presented below, to assist in the discussion, is the current Red Bulls
roster and salaries, according to the MLS Players Union website.

It wasn't the year that most had expected out of the New York Red Bulls. A fast started turned
into a long summer drought followed by a late season push into the playoffs. Expectations were high
and the team failed to reach them.
I feel compelled to share this photo of RBNY's Luke Rodgers and Brian Nielsen getting it in at
NYC's Marquee club. I don't know why really. Maybe it's Rodgers' cardigan-no shirt-shaved
chest-bottle service combo; that one gets me everytime.
Leave the Fireworks to the Professionals, M'kay?Viper said it earlier, but we'd like to wish
happy 4th of July to all of our readers! We hope you enjoy your time today with friends and family
today, eat plenty of BBQ and, most importantly, retain all of your fingers.
There's just a bit of news to report today as the Red Bulls enjoy a day of recuperation following
their mammoth four-game road trip.
Good Afternoon. I guess if you're reading this you're not one of the chosen ones. No matter, as we
sinners have RBNY football to look forward to tonight. Before that, however, let's get to some
stuff from the past week.
Former French International Robert Pires to RBNY? Well, it seems the former Arsenal man, currently
plying his trade at Aston Villa, told a UK publication that Thierry Henry personally called him
about coming to RBNY.
If you're like me, it seems like this winter has been absolutely interminable - and we're still
about a week away from February. After the disappointing end to last season, Red Bulls fans are
eager to get back at it and see if we can finally win that elusive cup. Well, we won't have to wait
too much longer.
