Four-time Sun Belt Conference soccer champion Denver is the favorite to claim the 2010 SBC
Soccer title, according to a vote of the league's 12 head coaches, the league office announced on
Thursday.
The Pioneers, who will be bidding for their eighth overall soccer title and fifth consecutive
tournament title, earned nine of the 12 possible coaches' votes for a total of 140 points.
Bria Beardsley, Kaitlin Bast and Kalie Vaughn each scored as the Pioneers romped past Florida
Atlantic University on Friday evening 3-0.
With the win, Denver improved to 13-2-0, 7-0-0 Sun Belt Conference. FAU dropped to 4-10-0, 3-4-0
Sun Belt. The Pioneers, riding an eight-game win streak, lead the conference by two games and have
qualified for the conference tournament.
Forward Kaitlin Bast was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, midfielder Nicholette
DiGiacomo was named SBC Co-Freshman of the Year and head coach Jeff Hooker was named SBC Head Coach
of the Year, the Sun Belt Conference announced Tuesday.
Bast and DiGiacomo along with senior defender Jessie Rogers, sophomore defender Katy Van
Lieshout and sophomore goalkeeper Lara Campbell were also named to the SBC All-Conference First
Team.
