Less than a week after bringing American Edson Buddle back to Los Angeles, the team has
bolstered the roster further by unveiling two Brazilians.
Earlier this week, the Galaxy officially announced that the club had reached an agreement with
Brazilian club São Paulo FC, allowing midfielder Juninho to return on loan for the 2012
season.
Brazil's master of funk dance and part-time footballer, Neymar, has expressed
interest in playing at this year's London Olympics. Strange, considering the fact that Brazilians
don't particularly care for this tournament! At Beijing 2008, heads rolled when
Ronaldinho and co' picked up a bronze medal instead of gold.
We're now officially 30 months away from the World Cup in Brazil, which means
there isn't much time for the country to start finalizing some basic rules. When it comes to
football of course, 'basic rules' really range from the sale of beers to deciding on how much
'fiesta' (partying) is allowed in the stadiums.
Last season a small tweetmeme of #TheTrialist started after Seattle Sounders FC reported
non-drafted, non-contracted players as "trialist" in their reports of pre-season scrimmages. There
were occasions when "Trialist 1" passed to "Trialist 4." Due to Major League Soccer's various
player acquisition methods this was done to reduce the chances of said player being claimed prior
to Seattle claiming the player as their own.
Obviously, the atmosphere at a derby held in such high esteem such as that of 'Derby
della Madonnina' is meant to blow you off your feet. Unfortunately, besides
Diego Milito's wonder strike for Inter in the 54th minute (there's no denying him,
really) the game last night was .

We all know that Brazilians are proud to have won the World Cup five times.

Before the U.S. men's national team begins its World Cup qualifying campaign this summer, it
will be tested against one of the world's best.
The United States will host Brazil in a friendly on May 30 or 31, the Brazilian federation (CBF)
announced on its website on Thursday.
Maradona may have been right when he questioned Leonardo's
role at Paris Saint-Germain on French TV earlier this week. It seems he is now the club's Official
Photographer! é uma piada, esses brasileiros! (it's a joke.. these
Brazilians!)
The Original Ronaldo 'O Fenômeno' (without ego and all that
guapo swag) visited the PSG training ground and facilities yesterday, where he was
enthusiastically welcomed and embraced.
So as Messi basks in the glory of winning a third straight FIFA world player of the year title,
attention continues to be centred on the players who missed out.
One such Player is Neymar. According to Brazilian legend Ronaldo, Neymar not only has the
potential to win the Ballon d'Or, but he can become better than Messi.
Marcos, goalkeeper of the Brazilian team who won the World Cup 2002, announced his retirement,
at age 38. He retires after a career of 20 years, playing only for one team: Palmeiras; the team
informed that no other player will wear jacket #12, the one Marcos used to wear; also, there plans
of building an statue of Marcos to be planted at the stadium of Palmeiras.
A WINNER IN BRAZILIAN HEARTS SOCRATES
We were stuck in transit at an airport when the news broke that Brazilian football legend
Socrates passed away on Dec 4 and couldn't write a tribute to him in time. Many
football-loving fathers, brothers and grandads out there speak highly of this man whose legacy is
well-documented by the passion of the Brazilians.
The U.S. Women's National Team has ended 2011 as the top-ranked team in the world according to the
year-end FIFA rankings.
The USA remained at #1, just ahead of Germany and third-place Japan, which has achieved its highest
ranking ever.
The Nadeshiko benefited from Brazil's inconsistent performances: two draws against Canada (7th, up
2), narrow wins over Mexico (21st, up 1) and Costa Rica (41st, up 3) and a defeat by Denmark (12th,
up 2) not only leave Brazil with a loss of 28 points and in 4th place, but see the Brazilians slip
out of the top-3 for the first time since June of 2008.

It's a common sight everywhere in Brazil to see the fun-loving natives get together spontaneously
for a game of kick-about on any space they can find.
Be it that it could be an obscure back alley of any street, the famed Copacabana beaches or on
those lush manicured pitches dotted around this football crazy nation, so long inches of space are
made available you bound to see the Brazilians coming together to enjoy a game of street soccer.
Kashiwa Reysol's FIFA Club World Cup dream ended today at the hands of South American champions
Santos FC. Neymar was amongst the goals for the Brazilians as they claimed a 3-1 win against the
J-League champions whilst earlier in the day North and Central American champions Monterrey CF won
the 5th/6th place play-off, getting the better of African champions Espérance Tunis by the odd
goal in five.
Neymar showed why Europe's best all want to sign him as he inspired Santos to a 3-1 victory over
Japan's Kashiwa Reysol in a Club World Cup semi-final in Toyota.
The Libertadores Cup holders are expected to face European champions Barcelona in this weekend's
final, barring the unthinkable in Barca's semi-final against Qatar's Al Sadd on Thursday.
Houston Dynamo fans have been waiting since the club's inaugural 2006 season for a
soccer-specific stadium they could call their own, and, come May, that dream will be realized.
According to the Houston Chronicle, that stadium will be named BBVA Compass Stadium at an
official ceremony slated for Wednesday afternoon.

As we speak, Santos are over in Japan playing Kashiwa Reysol in the semi-finals of the FIFA Club
World Cup and Neymar has just done this...
I think I'm right in saying that Santos are 2-0 up at half-time as things currently stand, with
Borges getting the other for the Brazilians.
Brazilians Santos FC will participate in their first ever FIFA Club World Cup and are hoping to
take the title back to South America after a five year period of domination for European clubs.
Santos FC, who are based in Brazil's second city of São Paulo, will face the winner of the
quarter-final between Japanese champions Kashiwa Reysol and North and Central American CONCACAF
Champions League winners Monterrey CF on December 14th.

Plenty can change in terms of player development over the next number of years, but for the time
being, the United States Under-17 national team proved that there's much to be excited about when
it comes to the future of the U.S. program.
Brazilian football legend Socrates has died at the age of 57 it has been reported today.
The former Botafogo, São Paulo, Corinthians, Flamengo and Fiorentina player was taken to
hospital on Friday with food poisoning and later died through an intestinal infection.
Socrates was perhaps best known amongst football followers for his performances with the
Brazilian national team in the 1982 and 1986 FIFA World Cups and it is sad that he is one of few
Brazilians superstar players never to win a major tournament with the Seleção.

After several months of visa issues, the Norfolk SharX will finally have a full roster for the
first time all season when it travels Saturday to Wichita.
Brazilians Marcus Schmidt and Jeferson Brandao de Oliveira, who were signed by
SharX coach Jon Hall on a preseason scouting trip to South America, received their visas and
will be available against the Wings.

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has been in fine form this season, and although he is not renowned
for his attacking ability (!), the Brazilian admires and appreciates attacking play, and this was
evident when he recently revealed his five favourite South American players.
Unsurprisingly, Lucas selected four Brazilians in his top five!
The first leg of the 2011 Copa Sudamericana semi-final between Brazilian giants Vasco da Gama
and their opponents Universidad de Chile was played in the former's São Januário stadium on
Wednesday night. The Brazilians took the lead after half an hour through Bernardo and the goal
looked like it might decide the outcome of the first match.

CARSON, Calif. -- While the Houston Dynamo's Luiz Camargo and the Los Angeles Galaxy's Juninho
will spend much of Sunday's MLS Cup Final matched up directly against each other, it won't be the
first time the two Brazilians will have shared the field together.
The FIFA Club World Cup kicks off in Japan next month (*groaaaans* all around from our
overworked footballers!) and already, everyone is expecting a final between Santos
and Barcelona. How rude to ignore the other teams! Did you not know that the ball is round, and the
probability of Dani Alves being worn out from running down the flanks is at an all
time high?
Egypt ushered in the Bob Bradley era this week with their friendly versus Brazil.
John Duerden of Sports Illustrated writes of the task ahead of Bradley in his tenure with the
Pharaohs.
Even two hours before kickoff, the Egyptian fans were in full voice, chanting a soccer version
of a refrain familiar to anyone who had been in Tahir Square earlier this year as the Arab Spring
reached its zenith.
Sandro opened his international goal scoring account last night as Brazil defeated Gabon in a
friendly in Libreville. The soaking wet surface was described as treacherous and it made for a
scrappy game and a scrappy goal from our midfielder.
As you can see, it wasn't as pretty as his goal against Chelsea last season but Sandro showed a
bit of a poacher's instinct from close range as he followed up on a defensive error.

The Tim Ream buzz in England continues to spread throughout the Premier League.
After reports surfaced that Arsenal had a summer bid for the New York Red Bulls centerback
rejected and was scouting Ream during the MLS playoffs comes word that West Brom has invited Ream
for a trial and is reportedly into offering a loan to the 24-year-old defender.
Great Britain Olympic team should feature Welsh, says Craig Bellamy
• Liverpool forward has no concern about independent status • 'It will benefit Welsh
football. How can we lose our identity?' Craig Bellamy fully supports the selection of Wales's best
young talent to play for Great Britain in next summer's Olympics.
Love Han Berger - love his work and what he's doing for the game in Australia but there are a
couple of areas where he and the FFA Technical Group need to improve and could improve our players,
all our players more quickly.
The revolution is on - for some, but very slowly in some areas.
In Canberra for example in clubland we are a long long way behind what constitutes technical
development.
There are two more rumours to bring to your attention this evening concerning the Brazilians Alex
and Amauri. Chelsea central defender Alex, 29, was mentioned in the summer about a move to the
Emirates, and today he has again been mentioned with a move in January. Alex has failed to impress
his current boss Andre [.

The A-League is back - the Young Socceroos have played their World Cup - so how many of our young
guns are flying around the league on the opening day of the season? Or come to that the next group
of Young Socceroos?
Steven Lustica - hard to believe a Young Socceroo couldn't get TWO full games with the Gold Coast
over the last two seasons, walks into a four year deal with Hadjuk, has played a number of crucial
games in the centre mid position already.
Bem-vindo a Selecao Bootcamp, a Fútbolita tradition! And yes, the
Brazilians have been very flashy as of late especially with Dani Alves channeling
his inner Usher above as he arrived from Barcelona with Thiago
Silva (they usually put players from the same area onto the same flight to South America,
Real Madrid's Marcelo included).
The Champions League and Europa League group stages began this week so therefore I thought it
might be interesting to take a look at the different nationalities that featured in the matches
this week. In the sixteen Champions League matches fifty-three different nationalities started
matches, in the twenty-fourEuropa League fixtures seventy-three different nationalities started
games.

Writer's Note: This is not a "My First Football Match" type article.
The world has been through enough "football revolutions" to know that it is not everyone's
thing. Nothing is. Sure, I can get swept away in the furore and bluntness of the X Factor final but
only for that night (that hasn't happened yet.
Quite interesting comparisons being made ahead of Man United's match against Benfica tonight in
the Champions League with Benfica coach Jorge Jesus claiming that Wayne Rooney is more Brazilian or
Argentinian than English.
An interesting point, Rooney perhaps does play with the ability that often comes with Brazilians
and Argentinians; he's not dissimilar from the likes of Carlos Tevez in the way he's stocky,
powerful and a great goalscorer.
Remember FC Stjarnan, the Icelandic club that came up with the innovative goal celebrations that
went viral last year.
Now, it is Hangö IK, a Finnish third division club, part of the Kolmonen that is going places
with their after parties. They involve costume changes and burlesque.
