The second waiver draft of the offseason is today at 2 pm local time. Soccer America has the list
of players available in the draft, most of whom were salary cap casualties. Even though the Wizards
are under the salary cap pretty safely right now, I don't see them going after any of those
players, including Kyle Martino, Kelly Gray, and Celestine Babayaro, who the Galaxy just signed.
The Wizards will continue to work to fill out their roster for the upcoming year, with the
supplement draft today. The Wizards have 4 picks, 11th, 25th, 39th, and 53rd. Last year the Wizards
were able to get quality minutes from a player (Aaron Hohlbein) in the supplement draft for the
first time since it was brought back in 2005.
After today's waiver draft, there are no new additions to the Wizards roster. Only 3 players were
taken in the draft, including former Wizard, Brandon Prideaux, who is going to Chicago. Ryan
Raybould was not one of the other two taken. They were Jeff Curtin to DC and Kyle Brown to Houston.
Here's your weekly recap of former Wizards. I've removed former Wizards whose season is over (Pat
Healy, AJ Godbolt, etc) as well as players who are not playing with the first team (Will John).
MLS
Nick Garcia - San Jose - Game against Houston was postponed due to Hurricane Ike
Scott Sealy - San Jose - Game against Houston was postponed due to Hurricane Ike
Jose Burciaga Jr.
New feature I'm going to try to do on Wednesdays now. I'm going to go through former Wizards and
give an update on what each player in season has actually done with their new club.

Nick Garcia - San Jose - Played 81 minutes in San Jose's 1-1 draw wtih Houston
Scott Sealy - San Jose - Played the full 90 against Houston.
As Ives reported Tuesday, there was indeed a salary increase clause in Marco Pappa's contract
with MLS that would have made him much more expensive had he moved clubs. One has to wonder whether
Frank Klopas had the foresight to make sure such a clause was included in the deal with the
expansion draft in mind, or if it was simply standard MLS loan-deal boilerplate.

Thanks to FC Rocky for putting together all the gains and losses in players the Rapids have had the
last couple of days. The 3rd was an MLS roster deadline so it was the usual time in the spring to
cut players.
Yesterday, March 4th, the MLS held a waiver draft for those players that were cut. Brandon
Prideaux was picked up by the Chicago Fire [Red Card on Prideaux, here]
Of note the Rapids also signed a Brazilian player they were pursuing.
